On the Anaerobic days, I go balls to the wall sprint, run, sprint, run, spint run, until I feel like I'm gonna puke (or if i actually do puke)
On the Aerobic days I just casually jog until it's time for me to get ready for work usually about 30-45 minutes,
On the plyometric days I usually do all my exercises to failure (burpees, squat thrusts, side jumps, calf raises, clap-ups, broad jumps)
As far as what I'm training for I don't want to really be a boxer, but I want to look like one!!

Why do you not believe me? Maybe I should clarify.......
I am extremely out of shape so working out to failure doesn't take very long.
I am also extremely focused on losing weight, so far I have lost 17 lbs in 5 weeks.
Thanks to all the guys on this forum for helping with my diet.
So I guess back to my original question......should I take a day off from cardio, or is it
ok to do it everyday. I would also like to see other peoples routines, so I can compare.
This is all very new to me as I have always been out of shape and lazy.
Re: How often for cardio?
Okay the type of work you discribe is crazy considering you are not arobicly fit. by the sound of it. getting fit takes time, you need a sound base to work from which at the moment you havent got. To get it takes time, all you should be doing at the moment is steady state work to biuld your arobic tollerence to a level that you wont injure yourself. all you should be trying for is to feel good. then take it a step at a time, longish walks to start no impact nice little stretch routines, get into a bike spinning class start slow finnish fast. remember the saying no pain no gain, biggest load of bollocks ever spoken.

Thanks for the advice, I will definately take it to heart, although I have noticed a dramatic increase in stamina doing it this way. Maybe you are right though, I will take it easy for a few weeks and see how I feel.
Re: How often for cardio?

Well right now I look like the michelin tire man, so at least I'll get closer!!
Once I get into shape I may look into joining a boxing gym, but that's another story for another day.
Again thanks for the advice guys cc's to AdamGB and scrap
Re: How often for cardio?
I always try to take at least 2 days off 3 at the most. I lift weights 3 days and cardio 4 or 5 depending how many days I take off. With the weights I do lighter weights with 15 reps for 3 sets. I am still trying to build my cardio up so I alternate between running and fast walking on a treadmill for cardio. Not much but seems to work for the time I have.

I would always encourage my fighters by giving yourself 1 day off a week.....I would usually make it a sunday....the body needs time to completely mend and this way you will discourage overtraining....shin splints suck a**....
Re: How often for cardio?
Your heart doesn't know what exercise you are doing just that you're doing something. Mix it up so you don't get bored mentally.
Re: How often for cardio?

im not following any diet plan. other then eating right and portion control w/ about 90 min a day of exercise both lifting and cardio. seems to be working at least for me.......
Re: How often for cardio?
Also, for me personally, I don't count warm-up time. I start the time after I begin to sweat. You don't start burning fat until that point anyway.

i think it has more to do w/ your heart rate....in relation to your age & weight/height.....and burning calories...muscle building helps burn calories....
i like reading this mag its great IMO....http://www.menshealth.com/cda/homepage.do?source=rodale

Aerobic training is guna make u good at..........aerobics. It wont help u to lose any more weight. Not after u have shifted 15 pounds. With aerobic training ur body just gets used to working at the same intensity doing the same thing.
Anaerobic training is great, keep upping the intensity and start lifting weights. A good way to look thinner is to put on muscle. More muscle generates an illusion of less fat.
Keep ur plyometrics at a fast pace as wel
Most importantly keep ur diet in tact. Be very strict with what u eat.
Good luck and keep up the good work.
Re: How often for cardio?
I ahve a question, thought I'd ask it here. I like to go on runs for a few miles,I do go boxing training but only for fun.nothing serious. Anyway, when I am running,I try to include about 5 or 6 uphill sprints, for like an extra burst of energy but I find that I am absolutely exhausted afterwards! Would it be better to jog normally or should I stick with the sprinting? Also,is it better to run thinking of how many miles you have run or how long time wise.?
Re: How often for cardio?
Alternate the intensities and length to keep the body guessing. I would do a minimun of 20 minutes at a high intenisty and a minimum of 45-60 at a lower intenisty. Also alternate the exercise. (Cycling, stairclimbing, running, rowing, swimming, walking.)
I have been taught that the best time to do cardio is upon awaking. Your body has been deprived of nutrients all night and will utilize fat as a fuel sooner.
