I didn't include Douglas-Tyson since Buster got dropped, and didn't include Jones-Toney since Toney was overweight. Just fighters who's opponents were favored and simply no excuses.

Even though he's not on the list (this is why you should always have a 'other' column' Joe Calzaghe vs. Lacy.........im not a calzaghe fan but he dominated and hardly stepped a foot wrong.....there is no such thing as aperfect fight unless a fighter ddoesnt get hit for 12 rounds and lands every punch he throws....joe didnt do this but who else has....nobody
You should of put Hopkins vs Tarver rather then trinidad.. I voted for Whitaker vs Chavez altough Chavez was past prime.
MAB forced Hamed to work harder than he was prepared to do to stay in the fight.
CC. Agreed.Quote:

Never has the been more convincing one sided beatdowns of top world champions.
Oh and Allan Green against Jaidon Codrington was pretty flawless. I mean to leave a man for dead unconcious on the ropes after 30 unanswered punches with just 18 seconds gone in the first round.................it don't get much better than that!
I voted Hopkins/ Trinidad because coming in Tito was a huge favourite!!! But Hopkins/ Tarver should be on the list as well.
Winky vs Trinidad should also be on there.
True, as should Wright Vs Mosley 1Quote:

yeh i agree man, i mean hopkins was the first to execute a perfect game plan to beat trinidad, and he did it with his own style instead of following the blue print already left by de la hoya had he not ran for the last few rounds and oscar was the closest at the time, but with winky he could have tried to fight tito like bernard cos bernard was the only one that was actually succesful at the time, but he stuck to his own gameplan, executed it brilliantly and it was a flawless victory, that was done in his own way!Quote:

Roy Jones-Toney, Reggie Johnson
Buddy McGirt-Simon Brown
Meldrick Taylor-Buddy McGirt
Whittaker-Chavez
Barrera-Hamed
Winky-Trinidad
The best Buster could have fought would be if he didn't get knocked down.Quote:

in addition to the fine fights already mentioned, I'll add one more that deserves honorable mention, shavers on norton, 1979.

Just one more from the old days. I don't know if it was perfect per se but it sure was inspiring, Sugar Ray vs. Wilfred Benitez.
Ok, last one, I promise: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oD99VbFzqAg&NR
I think Mayweather/ Castillo 2 should also be on the list, Castillo had no answer.
Hopkins gets my vote on that list.
Have to give shouts to Floyd against Chico. Also give Lewis props against Tua, even though it was a little boring.
As far perfect fights go(even though they were short), have to mention Tua against Ruiz, and McCline's 1-punch win over Grant..
I voted Frazier for Ali-Frazier I. Mainly because that's as perfect of a performance anyone could have had against Muhammad Ali. It would be unrealistic to expect anyone who's ever lived to do to Ali what Hopkins did to Trinidad, which is win every round. Frazier perfectly executed Eddie Futch's gameplan, imposed his will, and even dropped Ali. This might have been, IMO, the greatest win in boxing history, even greater than Ali beating Foreman, because I rate Ali higher than Foreman.
We all saw what Foreman did to Frazier right??
It wasn't pretty.
Foreman was the much MUCH more dangerous opponent as his elongated career would support.
Ali was two fights back from a three year enforced lay off, he was at a low ebb when Frazier broke his jaw in the 15th round.
For me Foreman -Ali; the 'Rumble in the Jungle' is about the most perfect fight anyone could have fought in those conditions. The sweat flying off Ali's head when Foreman whacked him for 7 solid rounds of beating was landing 4 rows back. It was a stunning display from a fighter most folk thought was going to be physically murdered by the awesomely powerful Foreman.
I remember watching it as a kid with the whole family crowded around the TV and the neighbours and their kids, Mums and dads and grandparents, everybody was scared that Ali was going to die at the hands of the hardest hitter boxing had ever known.
It was like time stopped.
That has never happened to me since on any sporting occasion.
The whole world tuned in to see the Rumble in the Jungle.
He proved us all wrong and came out the champ, for a second time, by a decisive knock out.
It wasn't just boxing, it was history, it was like a hollywood story, except it was real.
So many people wanted Ali to get smashed down before that fight. it was viewed that he would finally get his come uppance for being a loud mouth, a conscientous objector etc.
After the fight he won many hearts, and many more people, who still hated him had to admire his courage, chin, durability, talent and cunning.
There have been other perfect fights out there, for sure, but this one above all others, with the build up and the tension and the two totally different combatants , was unquestionably an execution of the perfect fight.
I think Lewis' beating of Tua was a more perfect performance then any of those. Did Lennox even get hit?Quote:

Definately Floyd, Lennox and Bernard have let off some really excellent exhibitions.... Probabaly Mayweather/ Gatti being the most pleasing on the eye (Sadistic Boostard 8) )

Personally the most punch perfect fight I saw was IMO Chavez's peak performance, his 11 round destruction of Edwin Rosario.
And if we are talking perfect punches, you can never beat Ray Robinson's 5th round KO of Gene Fullmer in their second fight.
Ray Robinson was meant to be at his best against Tommy Bell when he finally won the World 147lbs title.
I always admired Duran's destruction of Ray Lampkin, although he was not that impressed himself, with his:
"I had been in shape, they've be taking him to the morgue" (not the hospital).
So maybe Duran's victory over Carlos Palomino was his best...
it could be argued i guess that if oscar had fought perfectly until he stated runnin away from trinidad in the latter rounds, though i think it was the first round, a middle round that they scored for him aswell, but they could easyily be argued to be oscars, it was great to watch a half a match worth's of a boxing lesson thhough, i love watching a great tactical bout.
rocky marciano vs jersey joe walcott 2nd fight
CC - one of my favourite punches ever. Up there with Bob Foster on Dick Tiger and Jersey Joe on Ezzard CharlesQuote:

Agreed. On a sidenote, have there ever been two great of pure boxers matched together like that in a title fight? Don't think so. Those 3 fights are something all boxing fans should see.Quote:
