Amazon touts anti-Israeli views,
On July 4, Amazon spammed its customers with advertisement of Norman Finkelstein's virulently anti-Semitic book, Image and Reality of the Israeli-Palestine Conflict. On May 30, Amazon similarly advertised Beyond Chutzpah: on the Misuse of Anti-Semitism and the Abuse of History. I have never received any other ad from Amazon.
On April 4, in an unprecedented move, Amazon deleted all reviews of Obadiah Shoher's Samson Blinded: A Machiavellian Perspective on the Middle East Conflict. A few days later, Amazon forced its subsidiary Booksurge to terminate publishing contract with Shoher whose book is now available for download from www.samsonblinded.info . Google earlier banned advertising of the Samson Blinded for "unacceptable content." Shoher, indeed, is pro-Israeli, yet realistic and critical of Israeli policies.
Obadiah Shoher, an anonymous politician, abandons myths and moralizing in favor of realpolitik. He argues for raw efficiency of antiterrorist operations and shedding liberal idealism. Shoher asks inconvenient questions and gives honest answers. Amazon does not like that. Anti-Semitic lampoons by Norman Finkelstein are more to Amazon's taste.

Re: Amazon touts anti-Israeli views,
Ok but why here?
We are boxing fans not politicians!
And I'm a member of Amazon, and get virtual daily emails from them and they have never offered me the books you mention.
But thanks for informing us. I'm sure Saddo will be able to organise some sort of pro Israeli rally or petition and together we can close Amazon down! ::**

Re: Amazon touts anti-Israeli views,
Im no anti semite...but the Israeli government has a lot of blood on its hands...and yet the world seems more concerned with the obselete "threat" of the North Koreans...
Israel is commiting acts of terror as we speak....and yet these hypocritical politicians stand by as though nothing is happening....
It all reeks of double standards and sheer hypocrisy....
But what this is doing on a boxing site, I really dont know ::** :-\

Miles if those North Koreans started sending in suicide bombers every day and blowing up your civilians you would be crying out for your government to invade them.
We (Britain) went to war because the Argentines stole our sheep grazing fields on the Falklands. We invaded Iraq because Uncle George asked us to, Isreal are more justified in going to war than we or America have ever been post world war 2.

I disagree completely. North Korea is no threat for a start.
As for Israel, there are steps and procedures. The UN is an organisation that can legitimise any offensive moves. Israel fails to act upon such utilising any such means in order to gather support.
In no way can I support the taking of lives by Israel in Lebanon. This is the action of a so called legitimate government. Its bullshit and sanctions, just like those against North Korea should be made against Israel!

Miles I know North Korea are no threat, what I saying is that IF you living in South Korea had to contend with daily suicide bombs coming from orth Korea you would be pretty pissed off too.
Consider that Israel is only the size of Wales and is surrounded by Arab nations who all absolutely hate them. I mean I can think of no other nation in the world where it's neighbours are allowed to say in political statements that they are committed to their total annihilation and destruction.
Isreal has to conted with Hammas terrorists now as a genuine political party, Hezzbollah as a real and dangerous threat, and with the likes of Syria and Iran who just love the chance to stir things up and armthe terrorist groups against them.
In all honesty I can say there is no country in the world I would be more fearful to live in than Israel, surrounded by enemies on every side, their only ally on the other side of the world, and yet when pressed they back down to nobody.
Of course it's a tragedy what is happening in Lebanon but I guarantee if you were an Israeli and had to contend with the kind of shit they do, day in day out you would be urging your government to sort it out once and for all.

Good points, Bilbo...
Any deaths from such conflicts are futile and pointless and that is the tragedy...
My arguments about all this go far deeper than the current crisis. I have serious issues with the manner and form the Israeli state was even concepted from....the issues we have today have all evolved from the poor planning that occured way before I was born...
I just hope we can have a truce and a chance for things to be patched up ASAP....it will only be a truce, however. These problems are indemic in the region...

Yes but at the end of the day Israel are the only nation on earth that can claim that God Almighty gave them their land.
Believe or not believe everyone is allowed to choose, but personally I would not mess with God's chosen people. If the whole world turned on the Jews and attempted to wipe them out like Hitler, I'd back the Israelites to win every day of the week.
Ultimately it goes way back to the time of Abraham. He had two sons, one with his handmaid Hagar called Ishmael, the father of the Arabs. And he had Isaac, the father of the Jews through his wife Sarah.
Their descendants have fought ever since and will continue to fight. It's a problem with no solution I'm afraid.

Exodus 3:17
And I have promised to bring you up out of your misery in Egypt into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites-a land flowing with milk and honey.'
If you ever read the bible Miles, it's pretty scary stuff. He promised them the land, then made this rather more threatening promise...
See, I set before you a blessing and a curse: a blessing if you obey the commandments of God...but a curse if you disobey and leave the way marked out for you." (Dt.:11:26+).
"I will destroy your high places and your altars...I will scatter you among the nations. I will unsheathe the sword against you to make your land a waste and your towns a ruin. Then the land will observe its sabbaths indeed, lying desolate there, while you are in the land of your enemies." (Lv.26:30-34).
"For failing to serve God, you will submit to the enemies that God will send against you. They will come as a far-off nation from the ends of the earth, speaking a language you do not understand and they will besiege you in all of the towns that God gave to you. There will be only a handful of you left. You will be torn from the land which you are entering, and God will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to another." (Dt.28).
Then he promises that he will eventually gather them up again and return them to their Holy Land.
Jeremiah 31:10
Hear the word of the LORD, O ye Gentiles, preach in the Isles, that lie far off, and say: He that hath scattered Israel, shall gather him together again, and shall keep him as a shepherd doth his flock.
Ezekiel 37:10-14
Ezekiel 37:21-22
21and shalt say unto them: Thus sayeth the Lord GOD: behold, I will take away the children of Israel from among the Heathen, unto whom they be gone, and will gather them together on every side, and bring them again into their own land: 22Yea I will make one people of them in the land, upon the mountains of Israel.
As I say it's in the bible that they would be scattered across the whole world, then eventually re-established.
Actually it's even more uncanny that God initially led them out of Egypt, where the Pharoah was abusing and killing them and forcing all the males to be killed at birth. It's a miraculous escape that some critics today say never happend, but to me the amazing thing is that it happend again in living memory.
During world war 2 and the holocaust the jews were again being persecuted, rounded up and killed by the another evil Pharoah (Hitler), but again the Pharoh was overthrown and the Jews returned back to their homeland immediately after his destruction.
You have to admit, even for a non believer, it's so accurate it's scary.

The Bible is a great piece of fiction, it has no place within a scientific society...except for those those that somehow choose to need it...and ive no issue with those that do need it in their lives...
Who wrote the Bible, Bilbo? J K Rowling?
Its the same nonsense, it promotes areas of morality but offers nothing scientific...science is the way to understand god, not the bloody Israeli state!!!
They are just people no better nor worse than any others

Re: Amazon touts anti-Israeli views,
Bilbo, you are talking a load of bollocks. I suggest you go and read how Israle was created in the first place with the Balfour declaration etc etc before opening your mouth. Arabs have been living in that land far longer than anyone else and under Muslimrule,Jews were allowed to live in peace in return for taxes, they were respected as the people#s of the scrolls.
The Jews became persecuted in Europe and instead of all those Europeans being made to pay the price,Arabs paid the price. PLacing a Jewish state in the Middle East is like placing KKK in Africa...they would live in peace wouldn't they?? These Zionists~(normal Jews dislike them and argue there was no promise from God) use propoganda etc etc for the rule and tyranny.
If Scottish people were to come from Scotland one day and use a holy book of theirs to justify taking England, you would just stand by and watch your religiion.land/family etc etc get massacred?? Of course not,you would defend it with whatever means you had and as a 500ib bomb does not distinguish between civilian/freedom fighter, neither does a suicide bomb.
Go and trace the historical roots of Palestine and it's original people then open your mouth....and I respect the bible but it is so flawed that any argument based upon it is bound to lose. If you went into 1 Christian shop to get a bible and I went into 1 next door, the 2 would have completely different things written in them

If you went into 1 Christian shop to get a bible and I went into 1 next door, the 2 would have completely different things written in them
Oh god it's you. Are you just following me around the forums?

Dumbass the Scots claim the land of Scotland not england. :P
But I guess yeah if the Scots had been expelled by Edward Longshanks after he conquered them and sold off as slaves all over the world, but they kept their identity, remained Scottish and held fast to the belief that one day they would get their land back, then after enduring an horrific ordeal and massacre at the hands of a deranged tryant with 10,000,000 being killed and the remainder homeless and destitute then yeah I'd be all for inviting them back to Scotland and to become a part of Great Brittainia again. ;)

Look up in the history books the Jews were there first. They got kicked out and sold as slaves in Babylon, then 50 or so years later they managed to come back and reclaim their land.
Then they were conquered by the Romans and sold again as slaves into all of the Roman world and beyond.
Even if you don't believe in Jesus you would still have to agree that the whole of Western civilisation owes much of it's identity to the Bible and thus the jews.
Jerusalem was built by the Jews, it was and alway will be their holy city.
Look at any ancient atlas of the middle-east you will see Israel right there ;)

Re: Amazon touts anti-Israeli views,
WRONG!!! The canaanites are the earliest known inhabitants and are thought to have settled there after 3000 BC. Out of the canaanites came the Philistines:their descendants are the Palestinians. Heck check this:"land of canaan"(Numbers, 34:2; 35:10) ;D

Yes I know that they were but they are no longer around Game, they became extinct along with all the other ancient tribes thousands of years ago.
But the Israelites who were kicked out of their homeland by the Romans never went away. They've just been in captivity a long time.
Those who moved into Israel in the intervening years were essentially just squatters and when the deed holders returned they were kicked out.
A bit harsh maybe but then they shouldn't have squatted their in the first place.

Re: Amazon touts anti-Israeli views,
Yeah but you missed the point....the Philistinians who came out of the canaanites where there before and the direct descendats of the Philisitnas are the Palestinians.

Well as I said the Israelites were the original inhabitants of the land formerly known as Canaan. The major cities like Jerusalem were built by the Jews and so in returning to them they are just reclaiming what was rightfully theirs.
I guess if the Cannanites were still around and wanted a claim then they would probably have to be heard but seeing as God ordered Joshua to slaughter them all man woman and child then I doubt we will be hearing from them¬ ;D
Plus who cares about a few stinking Arabs anyway. They remind me of the sandpeople in Star Wars. Annakine had the right idea :P

Well America for one and seeing as they are the only world superpower I guess thats pretty much the only friend they need.
Plus the Arabs stink cos they are always messing with their camels and live in huts and caves. The Israelis are civilised and smell of the money which they are always counting.
I know who I would rather be sat next to.
Oh and plus if you are sitting next to a jew you dont have to worry about whether he is going to blow himself up, although thinking about it I would still be worried that he might be a missile target :P

Depends mate. Ask me during the day and I would say no.
Ask me now at 10 pm after I've had a few and I'll give you a racist answer you don't want to hear.

This is the anything goes board so I'm guessing we are allowed a bit of stupid banter.
Don't worry about any Arabs being offended, the few who do have the internet will all be on Al Jazera.com looking for American soldier beheading clips, they won't see this.
Damn I'm drunk tonight :P

And I ended up damn drunk last night too. No more days of holiday so hopefully I shall cut that one out! ;D
But back to my main points before I started raving about science and the Bible....
Israel is a state that gets away with more criminal acts than should be tolerated by any efficient world watchdog. Why does it get away with it? Because its sole ally is the sole superpower on this earth...
Israeli politics is ethically dubious and though im a free Western man, I can fully sympathise with the concerns of many Arabs in the region.
Israel is an anomaly in the modern geographic world and any chance it had for garnering any sympathy from me has long since vanished...
And CC's for both Bilbo and Game for keeping it all interesting! ;D
