Kostya Tszyu Dwells on Ring Return
Tszyu Dwells on Ring Return
Anyone care about this?
I'm sure that there are quite a few...the thing is...will any of it matter if he doesn't rematch Hatton?
-
Re: Kostya Tszyu Dwells on Ring Return
Tszyu never tries to avenge his losses or fight someone who gave him a rough time.
-
Re: Kostya Tszyu Dwells on Ring Return
Tszyu in the mix at 147 would be interesting. The Welter division is what the 140 was 2 years ago and the likes of Cotto moving up and a return of KT would really fill up the upper level of the division.
Tszyu against Cotto, Mayweather, Margarito, Hatton, and even Mosely have great appeal IMO.
-
Re: Kostya Tszyu Dwells on Ring Return
I'm not sure if he could come back, he might not be the same, but it would be great for the sport if he could come back strong. A near-peak Tszyu would have a good chance at being no.1 at 147, and with his style he probably has the best chance of anyone in the world to upsetting Mayweather
-
Re: Kostya Tszyu Dwells on Ring Return
Tszyu's only hope of beating any of the premeire 147 pounders would be to knock them out since he isn't outboxing either of them. And memo to Kostya....STAY AWAY FROM BALDOMIR!!!
-
Re: Kostya Tszyu Dwells on Ring Return
The reason to come back is because true fans know he can still be a great boxing force if he works at it mentally, physically and spiritually.

Tszyu has never been out-boxed in his life.
-
Re: Kostya Tszyu Dwells on Ring Return
He would never outbox Shane Mosley either ;) Besides Kostya doesn't win by outboxing boxers, he uses his accuracy and timing, both of which are some of the best in the game. But he can't outbox anyone either. if he could he would have done it to Hatton or Urkal ;)
-
Re: Kostya Tszyu Dwells on Ring Return
Tszyu's timing would be more than enough to beat shane. Tszyu wouldn't need to outbox him he can just wait for him to start throwing his 500 tickling little jabs and wing his right and it's Mosley-Forrest 1 all over again. I imagine if he did come back he would be gunning for Floyd right away though, for Kostya it would be an easier fight than some of the smaller fights at 147

Coming back for the fans would be getting off on the wrong foot, he has to want to do it for himself now.

Re: Kostya Tszyu Dwells on Ring Return
I would really like to see Tsyzu retire. He is already one of the finest light-welterweight's of all time and i would be very happy to see him bow out of this sport and enjoy the rest of his life.

I agree with you, sure it would be nice to have Tszyu back in the mix but the layoff & his current age may be to much for him to perform as his old self
-
Re: Kostya Tszyu Dwells on Ring Return
I would hate to see Tszyu retire like he just did. I mean people are going to question everything then. I think he should win one more title and then retire

Well, he's the same age as Roy Jones Jr. and he did pretty well last night. I think after 1 or 2 tune-up fights he could be very competitive against PBF. It's been over a year since he has fought though. The thing about him moving to welter though is, he has never fought at 147 and he is almost 37 years old, a jump up in weight that late in life, sounds like an invetation to punishment. I would really like to see him in action again before finallizing my judgement. He is one of my favorite fighters of all time though, I miss seeing him in action. After all he coreographed the Judah dance!!

Please Roy fought a nobody, Tszyu got nothing left to prove. Sure the way he went out against Hatton was disappointing but says a lot about where he is at this stage of his career

I wouldn't call Ajamu a bum. If he was a bum he would have been knocked out. He's never been stopped, never been down. I think Ajamu is good, he's not on Roy's level, but a bum he is not.

Just cause he didn't get knocked out doesn't make him good. There are lots of fighters that haven't been stopped but can't fight a lick. Ajamu is a good sparring partner at best

Re: Kostya Tszyu Dwells on Ring Return
I'm just saying Ajamu is good he's just not on Roy's level.

Sweet bro, truthfully Tszyu is probably in a better position than Jones at this point, but I'd much rather see him hang em up

I don't think Tszyu should retire. I mean losing the decision to Hatton wouldn't be bad but he was stopped on his stool and I don't want that to be the final image of him. I want to see him come off a loss like Hopkins and look spectacular against a top opposition like Cotto. And then retire. He deserves that

Sure he desreves that, but I would have never thought I'd see Tszyu quit like that! I think all the injuries & layoffs have taken there toll. I don't think he would have the same desire he once had.

Re: Kostya Tszyu Dwells on Ring Return
He may, Tszyu is a smart man. If he came back he'd have a reason. he would never come back if he knew it wasn't to the benefit of him and his family, if he came back he would have desire.

What's that saying about it being hard to get out of bed in your silk bajamas & go running at 4am in the morning... or something like that. I think Tszyu realised this in his fight with Hatton. I think he got to used to being on top. A younger more dedicated Tszyu feel would have beaten Hatton.

Tell that to Oscar De La Hoya

And thats why Tszyu has to come back ;)

Re: Kostya Tszyu Dwells on Ring Return
Well I blame Johny Lewis for the Hatton loss!! He should have known better than to let an aging Kostya travel to England and fight a strong undefeated PREASURE fighter at 2am in the morning. I still believe Kostya could KTFO of Floyd if he has kept his timing. ;)
Gatti and Kostya could still make for a good fight (PPVnumbers) ;D but if he were to come back i would only like to see him against Floyd or Cotto.

I absolutely agree with this part of your post, but not the rest. Fighting Gatti would be pointless apart from making some easy money, & Floyd would whip his ass

What about Cotto vs. Tszyu in their first fight at 147?

Be a good fight for Cotto, but I don't think Tszyu would put up much resistance @ this point!

Hmm yes, since cotto has been getting rocked in every fight lately...whats one of the best right hands in the game gonna do to him?
-
Re: Kostya Tszyu Dwells on Ring Return
Who's saying he could land it? he couldn't manage it against the defensless Hatton ;)
-
Re: Kostya Tszyu Dwells on Ring Return
He should come back.
I think he can still beat most at 140 and 147.

Id rate hattons chin better than cottos and tszyu did land it, just not enough and didnt follow up. Tszyu can still beat alot of guys in the division, id like to see a rematch with hatton in the US.
-
Re: Kostya Tszyu Dwells on Ring Return
Hatton's chin may be better than Cotto's at 140 but remember,we have yet to see Miguel@147 and Hatton was rocked to hs boots by 12ko Collazo. As for Kostya,a legend, awesome fighter, but in my opinion, took too much time off when coming back from that long layoff to beat Sharmba, very very poor tactics to fight Hatton,in the UK, on UK time and now ANOTHER long break,I don't think it bodes well. If he really wants to come back, take a tune up,see how it feels and then assess the situation.
If he jumps in the deep end straight away, and loses, whoever beats him will have their win discredited with claims that it was an aging KT etc etc

Agreee totally, i hope he retires. I would of liked to see him come back but too much time off. He said he lost desire during the prep for hattons fight which is not a good thing. He got nothin left to prove, he will go down as one of the best for sure. :coolclick:

Oscar did worse, he took a fucking dive against Hopkins. He had enough energy to thump the canvas but not to get up?? Please...
Tszyu gave his heart and soul against Hatton til he could go no more... DLH dived for his 20 million.
