Who would you say is that closest thing we have ever seen to perfect in the history of sport?
A few fighters come to mind, the likes of Leonard, Ali, Hagler however IMO the closest thing to perfect was "Sugar" Ray Robinson.

Roberto Duran,
Remember he was a lightweight yet he was able to mix it with the likes of Marvin Hagler and beat Iran Barkely to win his fourth title when way past his best?
Could Hatton or Mayweather challenge Jermain Taylor? I think not 8)
Duran was only 5 ft 7 as well by the way, same as Hatton.
Monzon was pretty special too.
So you saw Ray Robinson fight in his prime?Quote:

The most perfect fighter of all time... an interesting one.
I love Duran, hes my favourite fighter of all time, but as an answer to this question Im not sure. Would the most perfect fighter of all time let No Mas happen?
Take that away and hes close.
take that away and you still have the Hearns fight
True. However are we going to online allow guys without losses onto the most perfect fighter of all time list?Quote:

I think you gotta go with Robinson, pretty much dominated at welter, then 5 middleweight championships
I'd agree, and dont forget, one round away from the light heavyweight championship which would of been possibly the most awesome feat in boxing history, that happening in that era.Quote:

Than how can a fighter who no one ever saw fight in his prime be consider the most perfect fighter?Quote:

Am I'm wondering how many people that post here went to those events. While I recognize Robinson's greatnest I can't call him the most perfect fighter, cuz I never saw him. The most perfect fighter i ever saw was a 168lbs Roy Jones Jr. The 168lb pounder. Not the 175 one. At 168, I think Jones was unbeatable.Quote:

I got the perfect 3 fighters. All within weight range. Roy Jones for the over all skill and talent package. Marvin Hagler for the chin and over all toughness. And Sven Ottke for the political connections. BAM. Perfect fighter.Quote:

(dont even say Tarver or Taylor had the answers cuz its laughable ;D)
The original post says in the history of the sport, people did see Robinson fight, & a lot has been written & recorded about him. So in the history of the sport I gotta go with Robinson, but who I've seen, maybe Leonard. Just remembering his fight with Benitez, he was in with a prime Benitez then, & totally dominated.Quote:

Well considering i didnt see Robinson fight maybe i should take my comment back. Maybe Leonard then IMO, Duran was great but wasnt perfect as he couldnt change his style as effectively as others. Roy Jones has a shout at 168-a true phenomenon. Hearns with a chin mite well have been the finest fighter we ever saw....
roy jones wernt unbeatable by any means he was great fighter but he was a bit chinny. where has ray robinson was good all rounder never really had a weakness.
Thats funny that Robinson quit in his lightheavy weight championshipQuote:

Only Ramirez would grant him a rematch with the other two being cowards. Not only would he beat his opponents but he would shut them out to where they wouldent even win a round, if he would have had any kind of power in his hands people would rate him as the greatest fighter of all time, either way I will still go with him.
CC I wouldn't say he was as dominant as Roy JOnes Jr. or had all the offensive skills necessary to be the greatest all round fighter ever, but he was up there.Quote:

so i'd say ali
and chavez because that little guy could fight, he had a heavyweights chin in his prime on a 135lb frame
