'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
http://www.secondsout.com/usa/lusal....s=473&cs=20037
Following his seventh round win over Stevie Johnston last weekend former WBA junior-welterweight champion Vivian Harris has called out Britain's undefeated Ricky Hatton.
In n open letter to the WBA welterweight king from Manchester, England Harris said: "Hatton has made it clear that he is coming back to the junior welterweight division and who can blame him after my Brooklyn homeboy, Luis Collazo, nearly beheaded him in Boston?..
We can fight at 147, where you hold the WBA title, or at 140 or even in-between. The weight doesn't matter. I just hope you don't make me wait, lol.
Every week it seems there is another press release coming from promoters Dennis Hobson and Arthur Pellulo about how Hatton is being ducked and dodged by so many people. Let's make this crystal clear, I am not ducking Mr. Hatton.
I will fight you Ricky in Manchester, England, or Manchester, New Hampshire. The venue does not matter. I respect you but I want that title belt you have and, if you are the man I think you are and your fans in both the USA and the UK think you are, you will give a positive answer to my challenge.
If you think you are more vicious than me, you know what to do. Instruct Mr. Hobson and Mr. Pellulo to ring up Big Gary Shaw (Harris's promoter). They know his number. This would be a fight fan's dream matchup. Let's make it happen, Hatton!
July 31, 2006.
Beat a guy who comes in on two weeks notice that is clearly in the wrong weight class...& you think you own the world! ::**
Get 'em Vivee!

Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
Hatton would destroy Harris. The only thing that would be vicious would be the pummelling "Mr" Vivian has to endure...
-
Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
I can just see Hatton delivering a bodyshot to that frail little frame of Vivian's. If this is at 140 sweet mother of god it'll be a slaughter.
-
Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
i think hatton can take out vivian but will he get any more respect from all the hatton haters if he did?
-
Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
Harris reminds me of Margarito. Always running his mouth, but proving nothing.
-
Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
Hatton wud snap him in 2......seriously. It would be nice to watch but i doubt hatton would get loads of credit for it. Stil its a better option than Urkal.

It is definitely a better option than Urkal. Cotto or Castillo are the Hatton fights I'd most like to see.

Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
Hatton would knock him out
-
Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
yeh i dunno whats up with the hatton haters they must know that styles make fights and hatton just had trouble with collazo's style, and hes tough no doubt but ricky out punched him and out boxed him, check the punchstat. but this gimp vivian has no chance hatton would smother him from the off and he'd spend the rest of the night on a knee sucking wind.

Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
Funny, you try to diss Vivian in some way but you neglect to look at Hattons next opponent, the Urkal who Harris beat years ago and knocked out in the rematch, definately the lower tier of 140 that Hatton is fighting ::**
Agree with wacko on Harris though, he may have "looked" impressive if given the right opponent..
*cough* Calzaghe *cough*
-
Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
WOW bit of a statement there bout calzaghe! lol time will tell bout him i guess, well i dont know bout ukral i havnt checked him out yet but u know how it is with mandatory challengers. . . rarely do you get an upset
-
Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
I'd pick Hatton to win but even with as bad as Vivian looked against Maussa he's a contender at 140 with the talent having dropped off a bit with people like Floyd moving up. Its a more intriguing fight than Urkal or Urango.
-
Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
Didnt Harris have to opportunity to fight Hatton along time ago for a very handsome pay packet?
-
Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
yep i think he did it was mayb a year before the kostya fight i think cos hatton had a spell where a few of his fights fell through i think it was harris sharmba mitchell and another geezer

id be gobsmacked if hatton urkal went ahead, hatton wants a bigger name urkal will be a last resort, urkal is a fighter u dont look good against so i hope it dosent happen cos the even more hatton haters will jump on the bandwagon
-
Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
I thought it was already confirmed that Hatton would drop the title and not fight Urkal?

Yup he's after smaller fish now.
Dropping back to 140 he's chasing Urango instead ::**

Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
a JLC fight would be good though,as would a Chico fight if Chico moves up. The best thing for Hatton to do would be to clean out the division, get all the belts asap and then call PBF out to fight him@140...that would be a dream scenario as I think Hatton knows he cannot hang with the big boys at 147.
OR,there could be a shock announcement and Hatton may land the fight with Baldozar.

that's what i'm saying. he should fight JLC (and lose) or Cotto (and maybe win).

Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
For those of you who may not know or can't remember, Vivian harris wento out of his way to duck hatton like a stone cold little bitch.
Hatton dogged him for months and eventually after the first Urkal/Harris fight harris was making noises like he would let it happen, then at the eleventh hour he turned on Hatton, claiming there wasn't enough money in it, took a £250,000 pound pay drop and rematched with urkal.
Scandalous.
I hoipe Hatton makes Harris wait like a dog outside a store tied to a railing in the hot sun sweating, and then beat on his pathetic little weasel ass when he feels like it, for the price hatton dictates.
I hope he gives maussa a rematch before he fights Harris.
I still would like to see him beat the living daylights out of Harris just for good measure.

lol well said, but i dunno bout some peoples opinions im not sure its proven that hatton cant hang at 147 i think it would be fair to see how he does with a couple more fights i got an inklin collazo mite hav jus been an awkward style for ricky! and i'd like to see baldomir hatton i figure it'd be a war, and plus the big fights are at welter cos floyds there and baldomir and margarito are there and cotto's comin to welter! n if cotto's movin up then theres no one in light welter i like nemore! lol peace.

Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
I'd much rather see Hatton face Castillo, but Harris would provide a much better test than Urkal. Hatton should fight @ 140 a few more times. Castillo, Cotto if he's still there, Witter depending how he goes against Corley.

Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
Harris is a good sharpshooter who seems to have problems keeping his opponents at a distance sometimes, which is a big problem. He also has stamina issues, confidence issues, and Hatton would unquestionably break Harris and probably brutalize him. And this comes from someone who rates Harris as one of the top JWW in the world.

correct and i and a fair few others believe that hatton is probably one of the fittest and finely tuned endurance and stamina wise in the boxing world right now

Good points, but I think Harris would make it interesting for as long as it last. Definately not a walk in the park.

Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
Very true, but Stevie Johnston showed that Harris is open for the second shot after you throw the first, I think if you're ever at distance for Harris' right hand then he catches you with it he will knock you down, much like Tszyu but not half as tough, I see Hatton bullying Harris the same way unless Harris fights like Wladimer
-
Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
u know hatton is a bully fighter, hes right on the inside even a bit dirty to be fair sometimes and he throws almost exclusively to the body on the inside, so granted given the distance harris could drop some1 with the right, but it'll take alot of movement and power in the early rounds, and also thats when ricky is most vulnerable i.e eammon maggee's flash knockdown of ricky his only pro knockdown that i can recall!! so he'd have to work hard early and pray imo

You got it girl... but Harris is ten times a better fighter than Wladimir. He's like watching a robot.

Dude the guy is intertaining & can fight some, I mean he clocked Forrest & fought with him toe to toe for 12 rounds in the second. But he seem to wanna prove how tough he is all the time a keeps sticking his chin out for his opponent to hit. If he actually put as much effort into beating his opponent as he did talking sh*t he'd be dangerous.
-
Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
Yeh i guess it makes good t.v but hes the definition of the guy u love to hate, i mean he lost 100 grand to tito in a side bet cos he was so confident, i mean he says the crazyesy stuff in press conferences and wasnt he accused of bieng a rapist a few years back, man i cant get enough of the guy taking beatings thou , he gets beaten with style ... ish :D

we'll just have to see about that....you know where I stand and I think this fight is alot closer than the Hattonites are willing to admit....Hatton got called out...how will he respond?
-
Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
I'll say this, I don't question Vivian's ability cause he has some. But the question on my, and alot of other peoples mind is how much can the frail body of Harris take? I just don't think he's built to take punishment, much less the punishment Hatton can give. It's hard for me to visualize those skinny little legs holding him up for 12 rounds against a body puncher destroyer like Ricky. Thats my opinion anyway ( hear that smashup, opinion! :) )

Re: 'Vicious' Vivian calls out Hatton
Whatever question marks may hang over ricky hatton at Welterweight, he doesn't have them at light welter, he's the boss and he will push anyone around and bang them up.
Outs ide the ring he's a very amiable fellow, but once he steps throiugh the ropes he completely changes.... He's like one of those scary trolls with the Don King hair that some folk hang from their rear vision mirrors. :o

Almost true, but I think Castillo would take him.
