i think welter because i dont think floyd would change division to fight wittaker dont think hes as good as he used to be, wittaker is at welter isnt he?
prime vs. prime I think that FLoyd would win... he faster than anyone Whitaker has fought, and fast enough/has good enough timing and reflexes to hit Whitaker... His defense is almost as good as Whitaker's was, and he is IMO an overall better fighter, but at welterweight he might have more troubles because it seems to me Pernell might be naturally bigger than PBF.
Whitaker would beat Floyd easily, Floyd gets hit when he marches forward and can be countered. Floyd's weakness is his ability to be countered and Pernell would beat him easily. I think even Floyd knows that.
Prime for prime...really really tuff call.
I think that a lot of people are either unfamiliar with Pernell or either they base their opinions on the Oscar fight.
That being said...really tuff to call.
Two fighters that are way to evenly matched...excluding the fact that Sweet Pea was a harder puncher & Floyd, IWO, is more accurate when pressured.
I don't think we know Floyd's prime yet. Maybe when he starts to decline. But I still think there's potential Mayweather hasn't peaked yet.
This fight with bith in there primes would have been great for the boxing purests. I think Floyd would have the edge in power & would definately cause Whitaker problems... but I mean no one really dominated Pernell, not even Tito when they fought & Whitaker was well past his best. Whitaker was brillant both defensively & in attack, hitting you from all sorts of angles. I have to go with Sweat Pea by decision.
its a tough call cos pernell was once considered by some the best p4p it would be interestin to say the least!
yea, Pernell and RJJ went at it for that number 1 p4p spot.
Honestly...even though he's still young...I think that he's already hit his peak.Quote:

Couldn't have been said any better. I swear Floyd is the spitting image of Whitaker when he is in the ring which is why I like him so much. Whitaker is my favorite fighter of all time.Quote:

amat...I know this is off the subject...& you know I'ma movie freak...tell me that youv'e seen the preview on the telee for SOAP?
That movie is going to be hillariously insane. Sam J on a plane fulla poisonous snakes & constrictors...priceless.
"I'm tellin ya we gotta get these muh-fukin snakes of dis muh-fukin plane!"
I'd imagine this fight playing out something like the Leonard Vs Benitez fight.
agreed!! 2007 will be an awesome year if the right fights are made, and to be quite honest this year has not been all that great in my opinion!Quote:

YES! My icon is a little squished but that is a t shirt I have. Haha I swear he took that role just to say that THERE ARE SOME MUTHAFUCKEN SNAKES ON THE MUTHAFUCKEN PLANE! That movie is going to be the best ever.Quote:

The second Castillo fight was a clinic, looks even better now seeing as what Castillo done to Corrales.
but corrales only lost that last fight because castillo didnt make wieght and the corrales camp allowed the fight to continue and it had fair effect, the same happened for the rubber match that was supposed to go ahead castillo didnt make weight but this time the corralles camp didnt go ahead with the fight! and even if he did make wieght i suppose it makes sense cos i wasnt impressed too much with floyd cos it was too close for comfort and they both beat on corralles so floyds not that far ahead of the man imo
Bro the second Floyd/ Castillo fight was so one sided it wasn't funny, I don't think Castillo won more than a round. I don't think the weight issue is really that big a deal, I mean Harry Greb was fighting & knocking out heavies although he was a middleweight.Quote:

Your right bro, neither fight was that great, but in the second Floyd gave Castillo a boxing lesson. Of course Corrales is gonna blame the weight, doesn't make the fact that he got knocked out look that bad.Ring magazine already rates Castillo @ Jr. Welter so a move up seems likely. He'll be doing a favour for himself & the fans, some great fights there for him.Quote:

all the great mexicans seem to be feather in all fairness theres a few up in welter but theyr styles and fights are so good it would bring alot more to the divisions, not that welter need it at the mo u understand just saying it would be interesting, n please dont all start quoting me mexin welters n middles i know there are great im jus saying there could be more ok! peace
Castillo's camp has come up with every excuse in the book for every little blemish on Castillo's record. One of the more irresponsible camps in boxing.Quote:

you're not one of those people that hold onto the past so hard it skews their memory and ability to recognize the reality are you?....PBF wins hands down.....he will go down as on of the greatest fighters that ever lived....Quote:

That would be a good fight.. Pete was one of my fav fighters. I love when he gave Chavez a beating in San Antonio ! back to the topic , I would say prime -vs- prime. Floyd Mayweather would have won. but who knows? would have been great to see .
Ok so I threw this one up so I gotta give my opinion. I think Sweet Pea was awesome, and I mean awesome. No one comes close to him for not getting tagged. I think he would have frustrated (like he did so many in his day) even Floyd. Its such a close one from a purists view. I think prime Whittaker would might just have been able to school Mayweather as he is now. Maybe take a split or tight unanimous. I reserve the right to change my mind later though, especially if we get Mayweather-Hatton. I think you got a mix of styles for a Leonard-Duran I there. If Mayweather turns over Hatton that will go along way towards cementing his legacy.
Some nice opinion all round, cheers.
Totally agreed,CC. Lets' see PBF in the ring with dangermen like Sweet Pea faced and avoid getting hit all night then we can talk!Quote:
