come on stick your necks out ppl im interested!
I still think its prime Roy Jones Jr. ... nobody ever p4p could havebeaten him IMO. People who would give him a close fight though would be Pernell Whitaker, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Mike Tyson
sweet sound opinion, im just waiting for the ali clan to arrive and sing theyr praises at me. lol :P
I gotta go Robinson, he was an uncrowned champ @ welter for about 4 years before actually getting a shot. Then put on top 5 time middleweight champion. Had to go against that.
obv i should make some picks, stupid ov me
i reckon:
roy jones jr - prime
ray leonard
(could well be PBF in the future but not now)
obv i suppose ali needs to be shown his respect, though i have my opinions.
b-hop
TITO :o
yer robinson is a fair pick i think ive seen like two of his fights but the way other boxers describe him as an influence i.e b hop i think he deserves his status
that and he went to war with lamotta who has to be up there somewhere along with marciano!!
Bro is your post about the greatest ever or who you've seen? Ali is aguably the best ever heavy, & possible amoung the top 2 or 3 ever. But for the greastest fight of all time I'll stick with Robinson. I fighter I'm sad I didn't get to see more of was Salvador Sanchez, I think he had the potential to be one of the greatest.
well technically to an extent it'll have to be that you've seen but i mean i like to think ive seen most of the best and defining fights so i can base my opinions on that, im not fussed about the answers whether you want your fighters to be p4p or best in a certain weight class.
also i'd stick de la hoya up there somewhere i like the man!!
i need to get me some kip. im out. peace.
P4P Compared to the rest of their era (just for you BK ;))
Ali, Robinson, Whitaker, Leonard and Louis are the greatest fighters ever imo. My GOAT list is a little different though because that factors in accomplishments.
MY FAVOURITE FIGHTERS ARE AS FOLLOWS
Jack Dempsey
Joe Frazier
'Iron' Mike Tyson
Chris Eubank
James 'Lights Out' Toney
I'd say its between a prime Roy Jones and Sugar Ray Robinson.
I hope that GOAT list has Armstrong in that top 5 at least?Quote:

In the boxing world any answer other than Ali or Ray Robinson would get you shot or stabbed in some dark alley.
My personal favorites are:
1. Tyson

3. LaMotta
4. Foreman
5. Hagler
6. Graziano
The 6 Fighters I despise are:

Sorry but I don't think Ali should even be mentioned in the same breath :)
Now where is BritKid so he can shove Charlie Burley down our throat :lickish:
If Whitaker had any kind of punching power we would not be having this debate, he would be the greatest of all time, what do you guy's thing about a Leonard Vs Whitaker fight. I think Pernell would have took it but it would have been close.
Truth is, P4P is a waste of time.
A good big man will always beat a good little man.
Armstrong was a World Champion/title holder from 1936 to 1940. In 1937 he went 27-0 (26) against opposition with a combined 1,000+ wins...Quote:

Our Sport has a bad enough rap now. It needs Ambassadors, Its why Tyson just about creeps into my top 10 HWs list. The man did nothing good for the sport outside the ring, despite the fact he was a phenomenon in it.
Ali was too. I never get tired of watching The Thrilla.., or Rumble.. Ever. Add what the man has done away from the ring that reflects well on the sport and my mind is made up.
Favorite fighter is tough, theres been alot I've liked watching. Gatti is/was off the scale. Like watching a Rocky flick only you know the digs are for real. Tyson was great to watch when he was mauling someone.
I like the S Sanchez line. How do you think Sanchez would have done with MAB?
To me there is SRR and then there is everyone else.
Yeah he died aged 23 in a car crash, but had compiled a 44-1-1 record, with wins over Danny Lopez twice, Wilfredo Gomez & Azumah Nelson.Quote:

You mean he held titles at 3 different weights at the same time!Quote:

Just consider that Mayweather and Roy Jones would have held titles at 4 different weights at the same time if the same rule applied ;)
Carlos Monzon

As there was only one champion per division back then I didn't think that needed to be stated, but no one else had or has ever done it. Jones was only Lightheavy world champion & Mayweather was Jr. Lightweight & Lightweight world champion. Jones & Mayweather have never fought at those weights again since moving up. Armstrong let the featherweight title go, but defended the lightweight title against Ambers (who he lost the title to) & Feldman, & continued to defend the welter championship. The feat was pretty remarkable & may never be repeated again.Quote:
