Allan Green-Your views please
IMO scored the most brutal KO of recent times and he has a wicked jab
Think this fella can go on to win a world title and im hearing the he could be lined up to fight Jermaine "The F*cking Fraud" Taylor!!!
I think green can KO Taylor.
I even think Froch could take Taylor ;)
Any Green fans among us?

he's an up and comer but I don't see him beating Taylor regardless of how his last 3 fights have went.....
-
Re: Allan Green-Your views please
Why not?
Taylor does'nt even fight FFSakes
His 2 farces against Hopkins were a disgrace.
Did you not see them?
He's done nothing to prove to me he either has a good chin or he can go in the trenches if needed.
-
Re: Allan Green-Your views please
I thought he was scheduled to fight Lacy in October?
If so, as long as Lacy is fully recovered
Green gets knocked out.
-
Re: Allan Green-Your views please
Don't agree at all ;D
Lacy can't deal with a decent jab and a slick mover as was proved against JC.
He got exposed for what he is..... A one dimensional SLOW slugger.
Green takes him imo 8)
-
Re: Allan Green-Your views please
Fair enough but personally I think Calzaghe made him look much "worse" than he really is
So for the time being I'll give him a chance to frank the Calzaghe form. ;)
-
Re: Allan Green-Your views please
I think your giving Green way too much credit Smash, check out his last but one fight ;)
He has decent power but as with many other punchers would appear to have a dodgy beard, gets a bit overexcited and for me doesnt make enough use of his natural advantages, his great jab didnt stop #1 dad getting in on him ;)
He is a prospect and talk of Lacy Calzaghe or Taylor is too soon for me.
KO of Codrignton was brutal though ;D
-
Re: Allan Green-Your views please
If it happens I think Green takes a few early rounds whilst Lacy settles back in and then horribly knocks out Green at around half way.

I think lacy learned more from the Joe C fight than the rest of his fights combined.....don't forget Lacy was also known to have a great jab....he just froze against Joe......I don't think we'll see that out of Lacy again...
-
Re: Allan Green-Your views please
Im a bit concerned about Lacy to be honest, the vibe coming from his camp isnt good at all. He would still smoke Allan Green though ;D

Look, I thought B-HOP won the first fight....A draw at best in the second for B-HOP..and I thought Winky beat Taylor outright in the last fight...but all of these guys beat Green.....B-HOP and Winky would embarrass him......They didn't do that to Taylor....so I am still going with Taylor on this one.....

Seen it mate ;D
His ex sparring partner i believe who put him on his Ass only for Green to get up and Murder him.
I think you give Lacy too much credit mate.
He's sh*t,and you'll never see him fight to his potential (if you can call it that) after what Calzaghe did to him.
It's very hard to come back from such a bad beating and few ever do mate ;)

Re: Allan Green-Your views please
His non punching ex sparing partner ;)
I dont and never did rate Lacy that highly, I picked him to beat Joe as I thought he had slipped enough, how wrong I was. For me Lacy has the two main ingredients to beat Green, chin and punch ;) I think thats all it would take.
Green should stay at middle for now.

I think the Joe C fight was a wake up call for lacy...he's young enough to recover from a beating like that both mentally and physically....He learned he does have a great chin and now maybe he will open up alittle and throw instead of turtling up like he did against Joe C...

Very lucky the referee didnt step in, then it would have been Allan who?

Re: Allan Green-Your views please
Allan is one of the smoothest fighters I've seen. He looks very comfortable in the ring for only being 20-0. Taylor would be very stupid to face Green coming down from SMW in what is supposed to be a "rest" fight after facing Hopkins twice and Winky Wright. Even Hopkins took "less difficult" fights during his reign. IMO, Green KOs Taylor.

Lacy will be fine True he did get by on his natural abilities Iron Chin and Helacious Power unfortunately that is all he needed in his fights....
Why are people so venemous to this kid is beyond me???? He is classy, in a sport full of thugs, Pricks, assholes and Flaming Idiots he has class is Humble and a good sportsman...
You can look at that fight and say he got his ass kicked, AND THAT IS AN UNDISPUTABLE FACT!!!! You forget that despite the beating he never stopped coming forward 3 min a round for 12 rounds and never quit or looked for a way out...He has the heart of a lion to go along with his power and chin...You dont learn those qualities you are born with them, however you can learn to be more defensive minded and Box to set up his power shots
The Boxers that never quite comeback from beating like that are the ones that think to highly of themselves and are Cocky and believe their own hype Like that QUITTER AND BABY PRINCE NAZEEM HAMED...Jeff didnt do any of that was always humble and mature....
Back to the original thread... Lacy KO'S Green easily...Donny McCrary KTFO Green but Green was Eatin up that homecookin they were serving in his back yard My Mothers China Closet is Sturdier than Allen Green's chin.. Lacy by round 5 Lacy can take Green's shots, Green cant take Lacy's

Any punch can be devastating if you don't keep your chin tucked.. Green did 2 things wrong, he dropped his right hand and he had his chin in the air. But I don't think it's adversity you should be looking at, but rather the fact that he got up, and dominated the rest of the fight.

You haven't watched many Allan Green fights have you ::**
He always except for his last 4 fights had been a slick boxing counter puncher that was very hard to hit, you don't remember the fight where Teddy Atlas called him 'too passive and too focused on his defense' so then thats when Allan decided to become more offensive.
-
Re: Allan Green-Your views please
The only reason Taylor looked bad was because he fought the greatest middleweight of the last 10 years in Bernard Hopkins, hell even Roy Jones looked bad trying to beat him and Roy is P4P one of the greatest fighters of all time.
From the video Allan Green has no chin, Jermain would crush this guy.....He probably looks good in other videos because he is fighting bums, Taylor looked good also.
It's common sense

2 things
1) Green had his chin high in the air
2) he dropped his right hand
That's an equation for a knockdown no matter how good your chin is, if it's up in the air you're going to get hurt.

As much as Teddy is respected as a Trainer and broadcaster I doubt that is why Allan tweaked his style ::** especially seeing that John David Jackson is Allan's trainer...Fighters do fall into bad habits and start to develop tendencies when they have tremendous athletic ability , they tend to get cocky and ego inflates which leads to important Fundamentals going out the window...Point being is it is way to early to throw this kid in the ring with Lacy, sure Lacy lost, but to the #1 Super Middle in the world for the past 8 years..Lacy will be a caged animal looking to make a statement in his comeback...
If the masses want to serve up Green as Lacy's comeback fight I will gladly have a few Brews and watch the brutal dismantling...Especially seeing a physicaly and mentally well rested Lacy will be showing up

C'MON LARRY "STARR" MERCHANT we all know what the equation is for a KO, we have seen countless fighters take better and harder shots than that.Call it what it is Green is Chinny!!!! The only other fighter that would have gone down from that would of been Wlad Klit, and maybe Glass Joe from Mike Tysons Punch Out...
Instead of trying to purposely go against the grain see it for what it is worth...If the Kid is elusive and keeps people at bay it wont be as big of an issue, but the kid has never been in with a world class puncher, if a scrub can put him on his bottom than a puncher like Lacy will ruin the rest of his year...Maybe this fight will be good as to take all the so called "OVERHYPEDNESS" off of Jeff

it dosen't matter who you are, sooner or later you are gonna get caught flush....It's a question of whether you can take it and shake it off.
Donnie Mcary is a light fisted bum and still managed to almost knock him out, i'd hate to see Green take a punch on the chin by a much higher caliber of opponent.
Anyway, we'll see when he fights Lacy

Hey smashup, not sure if I'd describe myself as a fan as he seems very arrogant but he's definitely a prospect.
I've watched his KO of Codrington a dozen times or more and it keeps getting better! The kid was out cold for 10 minutes!
That shows me that Green can really bang. Sure he got caught by McCrary but in fairness he managed to survive the round, when it seemed for a minute he wouldn't even make the count.
I don't think his chin will be much of an issue against Lacy, against McCrary he dropped his hands and got smoked just like Lewis against McCall and Rahman. No way he is dropping his guard like that against Lacy.
Plus the big difference between Green and Lewis was that Green showed a remarkable rate of recovery. I mean watching him get knocked down I thought he was unconscious but he recovered his senses in an instant, and held out the round even though there was well over a minute or so remaining.
He's a genuine, scary prospect at 168 lbs.

Re: Allan Green-Your views please
Alan Green deserves his shot and I think he will beat Taylor. He did slip up against that old ironworker but that doesn't mean he has a suspect chin. He did get rocked but how many other guys would have pulled themselves off the deck to finish like he did? Not many so I say give him a shot. It is not like they will ever be able to make a fight between him and say Kelly Pavlik or some other up and comer anyway.
-
Re: Allan Green-Your views please
I am a bit biased as I used to box out of the same gym as Green, Lions Den owned by mikey Burnett(ufc middleweight champ years ago)
But I have seen green since his first pro fight. I knew from the min I saw him work in the ring(not to mention the times I was on the other side of that leather) that he had what it would take to go straight to the top. You guys can saw all you want but I seem him beating Lacy, taylor or Joe Cal. Lacy fight has fallen through. Joe cal is on the burner if something else doesnt come along for Joe. Taylor is always an option but not as hot as Joe right now. All I can say is the proof is in the pudding and I bet Allan gets a shot at someone big this next fight before 2007 and I think he will prove alot of you all wrong. Sports writers and many others love to hate this guy for some reason. I dont know why but he has the goods. He has brute strength(have watched him train on the weights) that many many fighters his size, if any at all, poses

John David Jackson has only been in his corner since last fight.
Scotty Burnett was his trainer before that and before him it was Ronnie Warrior

Re: Allan Green-Your views please
Ok...so I'm not one to do this and these aren't neccisarily my views on Allan Green but since the Lacy-Green fight is being talked about...here is what I think of it.
A few thoughts on this one from someone who is a fan of both but Lacy moreso then Green.
1. Lacy doesn't have any confidence issues. I don't think we'll see anybody other then the fire breathing super middleweight that had all of us picking Lacy KO against Calzaghe. Why do I think this? Well look at his opponent. He takes a beating of Tex Cobb-Larry Holmes proportions and comes back and takes on the hottest guy in the whole division, a guy who Calzaghe was entertaining for his next fight. Doesn't exactly sound like the pick of a broken fighter does it? I mean it's not like he's marching into unchared territories. Fighters have lost....even choked before Lips Sealed He has a real strong camp behind them and they won't let him wilt under this pressure. He's way to valuable to them. So that's my first thought. He's worked with the best people in the business after this loss and I don't have many worries about his mental makeup. He'll be fine and I think the Green pick is a testament to that.
2. The fight is going to be won at whatever distance they fight at. Green is faced with the task of keeping Lacy on the outside and scoring with the big 1,2. No one has been able to keep Lacy outside as of yet. He kind of has a dumbed down peek a boo style with a lot of side to side head movement that has let him slip straight jabs and rights in the past to let him get inside. So how do you keep him on the outside? It's something no one has done yet so it'll be interesting to see how Green handles this daunting task. If the fight goes on the inside then it is Lacy's fight to lose.
3. Lacy won't be KO'd. He's been hit with nearly 100 punches a round from a fairly hardhitting champion. The guy has one of the better chins in boxing and Green is going to have to be smart for 12 rounds without ever getting caught on the inside. Does Green have the smarts and the experience to do this? Does he even have the ability to stay safe for 12 rounds while still winning? That'll be interesting to see. But Green is going to have to be virtually perfect fight because Lacy won't be squandering any oppurtunities imo.
4. Great fight. Great fight for fans. We have a guy who is making his first BIG step up while another is looking to get right back on the map with a victory over the division's hottest prospect. The buzz surrounding this fight is going to be incredible. And we got one giddy Lacy fan over here.
-
Re: Allan Green-Your views please
And Smash, you're discrediting Calzaghe's victory talking about Lacy like that. Listen, as someone who has seen every single professional fight of Jeff Lacy, I can say that Jeff Lacy CHOKED when faced with adversity. Not taking credit away from Calzaghe becuase he brought that adversity but no way do I think that fight should have been such a blowout. He was exposed against a slick fighter with a good jab and quick movement? Mate most of the time Calzaghe was just bullrushing and dominating on the inside. He beat Lacy at his own game. No way should that have happened. It wasn't him fighting at his potential, it was a shell of Lacy. Green is in NO way a world beater. He doesn't cut it against any of the elite comp out there imo, even Kessler ;) Give him time and he will but he isn't equipped to fight an inside fighter yet. And I don't think he is good enough on the outside to keep Lacy outside. Beat Taylor? Taylor gave Hopkins two of his toughest fights ever, and imo came out with 1-1. Then he came out with a near victory against Wright. Meanwhile Green KO'd a 9-0 guy, almost lost to some guy named Donnie ???, and beat the #1 Daddy. Not exactly a world beater.

What? No you shouldn't. If he was fighting someone like Lacy or Calzaghe then you disregard the knockdown. When he gets his clock cleaned by Donnie FOOKEN McCrary then you look at the fact that he got his clock cleaned. You disregard the fact that he got up and did what he was supposed to do 5 rounds earlier.

You got it bro, Green has a lot of talent but you gotta question his chin & focus after the McCrary fight.

Re: Allan Green-Your views please
I wouldnt be so concerned about his focus. Needless to say he wouldnt be so loose against a bigger name, but the punch resistance does concern. Its ok to say anyone can get caught and hurt, but that guy had no power and the shot wasnt executed well, it was a decent thump and no more.

Your right bro, I just think he was to cocky, but he always seem to fight that way, with his hands down & all. That's where I question his focus, I hope he learns from that knock down.
