baldi vs margarito on Dec.2nd...maybe?

i know its in spanish..... but its basically saying that it might be baldi vs tony.......tonys rep says that there are money issues between baldi and PBF...... ::** it seems that baldi wants 3mill and pBF wants 5mill.....apparently the promoter does not feel confident that this fight between baldi and PBF will sell many PPV's....so now there is talks of unification between baldi and tony.....thats what it says im just translating...take it for what its worth..... ;D

Re: baldi vs margarito.....maybe?????
ohhhh and it would take place on dec.2nd w/ cotto on the undercard at 140 or 147 w/ an opponent to be named later.....hope someone can find an English version.....
-
Re: baldi vs margarito.....maybe?????
Until Margarito steps up and beats a top guy, he just another fighter in the division . I hope this fight is made , there is a whole list of guys that would match up well with Margarito, lets see if Tony is willing to get in the mix , step up and become legit. He is receiving lots of praise for a fighter with 4 losses on his record. And opponents that are mid level at best.

Re: baldi vs margarito.....maybe?????
for some reason i think baldi vs PBF will not come off. i dont know, maybe money now or money in the future (odlh) will keep this fight from happening......so baldi vs tony sounds good.....i think more then likely PBF will end up fighting mosley.IMO

I don't know bro, reading that DLH interview I got the distinct impression Oscar is waiting for Floyd to capture Baldomirs welterweight title so that his match with Floyd would be for a world championship.

plus he'd have to starve himself down to 147 to grab any WW title anyway, which i'm positive we will be unwilling and unable to do.

Agreed...but then again...so is Baldomir & look what he's doing with what he's got!
I am by no means a fan of Margarito...but I'd love to see a fight between ole' Iron Chin Baldomir & Margarito then the winner against Floyd...better yet...I'd rather see Floyd Baldo with the winner to Margarito.
-
Re: baldi vs margarito on Dec.2nd...maybe?
Now that is more of what I want to hear, some common sense. Margarito Baldo unification and then winner gets Floyd would make perfect sense. If Floyd was smarter,he would want that fight too as it would most likely occur on the Cotto card in December, imagine the exposure etc. Everyone would know who the champ was and Floyd would make his $$$> It's a shame Floyd isn't smart ;D

Even better, Floyd-Hatton with the winner to the winner of Margarito-Baldomir.

Re: baldi vs margarito on Dec.2nd...maybe?
I think Hatton may want another fight at Ww before taking on Floyd and I don't think it would be in his best interests to fight Margarito adn Baldo would be tough too.

I guess it's less the actual belts and more the fact that after beating Baldomir Floyd would have to be regarded as the man at 147 and so a fight at 154 with Floyd moving up would be more appetising. Nobody could accuse Floyd of not unifying a division if he beats both Zab and Baldomir, sorry but Margarito doesn't mean fuck all.
If he beats Floyd it's a disaster, if he loses, well he was just another Jeff Lacy and Floyd won't get much credit anyways.
Far better to fight and beat Baldomir for little risk, then fight De La Hoya on Cinco De Mayo day next year. Remember Oscar retires next year on May 18th, the day of Our Lord's Ascension into heaven. ;)

Agreed--he doesn't belong at WW and his days are numbered if he stays there. I'd still like to see the Floyd fight because there's no size issue there, but I don't think it would be too close anyway. It would shut people up though.

Re: baldi vs margarito on Dec.2nd...maybe?
how about hatton take on baldomir and floyd take on tony and the winners fight each other for all the belts, plus floyd will still make his 8 mil.And we can see if hatton can take a punch from baldomir since collazo almost had him out.

I know it's an unpatriotic thing to say coming from a Brit but I think the Collazo fight unnerved Hatton and he's lost his bottle.
I mean to be talking about moving back down and the possibility of going after his old belt and fighting Urango smacks of someone who was going to swim the channel then dipped his toe in the water and thought 'Hey it's a bit cold!', and got straight back out again.
When Floyd suffered a similar fate at the hands of Castillo at lightweight there wasn't a hint of him moving back down again. Instead he gave Castillo a rematch, beat him convincingly and move onwards and upwards.
I get the feeling Ricky is not going to do that though.
No shame on him if he doesn't, I mean not many people are cut out to be multi division champions but I do think Hatton's status as a top p4p star is in jeopardy.

DLH talk about moving back to 147 only a few months back when Mosley also dropped back. Also he said he didn't care about belts. " I would rather fight for that ring belt" & " If you wanna look up who the champion is, then go to the ring magazine".

I agree completely. I already don't think of him as a top p4p star. If he drops down, he should fight Castillo--if he beats Castillo, he makes my list.

True he should drop back to 140, a Hatton/ Castillo fight would be huge.

Re: baldi vs margarito on Dec.2nd...maybe?
Oh man I almost forgot that this forum is heavily influenced by the cable networks full of their poster boy minipromoters. Thus they hate the man that makes Floyed look like a sissy.
Only an idiot or a pretty boy lover would be so blind as not to see that HBO is protecting certain fighters in order to milk them for all they are worth.
Professional boxing is all about risks and money and for a boxer to turn down 8 million dollars, a fellow champion who's been hounding him, and multi shouts from the fans is a case that will definately go down in the history books---Floyed was no Leonard, was no Ali, was no De la Hoya but Foyed was a protected primadonna.

Re: baldi vs margarito on Dec.2nd...maybe?
Wow! I sure hope Baldomir gives Margarito this well diserved opportunity.

I would give Margarito props if he beat someone good. someone other then the C level opposition he has been facing , hell Margarito lost to a C+ fighter Danial Santos . I'm not sold yet, Margarito’s next fight is against a fighter with 9 losses. jeez, looks to me that Tony is one of those fighters that just pads the ole record and then thinks he is deserving somehow of the honor of fighting P4P the best fighter in the world. . Hell if he would beat a Zudah or Collozo, i could understand making a case . id would even settle for a Ben Tackie or Juan Lazcano then we can better gauge him. I always hear these excuses from Tony "nobody will fight me"… Shit wave that 8 million dollars at Joshua Clottey , or Paul Williams and see what happens. Ben Tackie is always on call, he aint going no where. Step up Anotnio and stop crying !

Re: baldi vs margarito on Dec.2nd...maybe?
You make a good point but I am sticking with my suspicions and I also agree that Margarito should jump at williams and Clottey's public challenge. Yes, these two guys are a huge risk but they are only going to get better and they would be great preparation. Colazzo/Margarito would be great too.

I agree that Tony needs to step up but I disagree, you CANNOT call the guys he has beaten bums,I have gone through them a million times and am sick f talking about it. Also,he has 4 losses,WOW?!?! How many does Baldo or a Gatti heck even Judah have?> 3 of his losses came as a teen and 1 was on cuts in a fight he was winning against an 170 plus pounds guy! AND MARGARITO HAS CATEGORICALLY STATED THAT HE WILL NOT BE FIGHTING RIVERA!
Once he does beat Clottey and hopefully Collazo,I want to hear what people say then! AND I DAM SURE WANT THIS FIGHT TO COME OFF!

Personally, I want to see Margarito Baldo the most but Clottey would be a good fight too and I'd be disspointed if Tony did not win. He is ultra hungry for the big names so I want to see teh Tijuana Tornado leave behind a trail of destruction with Clottey,Quintana,Collazo and if Williams keeps running his mouth,Knock him TFO for good measure.

You make a very good point , A fighter tends to read his own headlines when he in against the mid level guys then all of sudden takes that leap from C to A+ . gives them something the think about why they stretched out looking up at the lights.

Bro if Margarito beat all those guys he would need to call out DLH & Floyd, they'd be chasing him down!!!

Re: baldi vs margarito on Dec.2nd...maybe?
For some reason, I think PBF would still be a bit hesitant to fight Tony. I don't know,I'm not saying he's scared but it's just weird, the whole $8million thing and now he wants $5mill from Baldo. I can't wait until December this year, alot of these things will be cleared up!!

I'll admit theres something weird about this whole 8 million thing, but Floyd has consistantly fought tops guys, I feel Floyd will fight Margarito when he feels the time is right. In the mean time theres nothing stopping Margarito from fighting the other top guys like Collazo & Hatton, 2 fights that would definately strengthen his cause.
