Leonard would have whipped him....Duran would have whipped him too
Pryor was good but not on their level
I think Leonard definately avoided Pryor, a fight with Duran would have been brillant. Pryor would have beaten both IMO.

Ray always took the easy fights, Hearns, Duran, Hagler ::** ::** ::**

Bro Pryor is one of my all time favorite fighters, I've got footage of all his fights that are available. Even a lot from his amatuer days so I think I've seen enough footage. I think Leonard would have had the best chance, because he might have been able to out smart Pryor, but theres noway I'd see Pryor being out fought. Remember Pryor had to move up to Jr. Welter cause all the top lightweights were avoiding him. At his best Pryor was unstoppable!!!Quote:

I agree with frozen. Leonard definately avoided a prime hagler!!
im not sure if it was that because he retired in 1984 and dont tell me he waited for the right moment until hagler was on downslide because hagler wasnt on downslide he was just coming off one of best two wins of hes carreer the classic war with tommy hearns and classic war with john mugabi and remember marvin hagler was favourite in the fight with leonard. leonard just didnt allow hagler to brawl him and just edged it on the cards. and if anyone wouldnt of been there best for that fight would of been leonard because he hadnt fought for 3 years
I think Pryor would of won he crack the heck out of hearns in the amateurs. Sugar ray ducked him as well as others and does anyone remember the conference when Pryor said he wanted a fight with Ray and Ray was like this is my show.
I doubt Leonard ducked him. He was too busy fighting Hearns, Duran et cetera before his retirement in 1982 and Pryor was head long into drugs when Leonard came back in 1984 and 1987.
look what I just found!

You must be a true boxing fan because most cant even remember one od Rays opponents let alone 3 talk about an over rated fighter.....lolQuote:

And I suppose Duran Hearns and Hagler were all coming off terrible losing streaks, and had shown very little dominance.Quote:

Leonard takes pryor out imo.
I agree with the whole statement until you got to the take Pryor out part..Ray would out point him but not take him out ( I was assuming you mean KO or TKO if I am wrong I apologize in advance )Quote:

I felt at the time one of the best fighters Pryor ever went up against was Alexis....I loved Alexis, he was one of the most respectful fighters I have ever seen in the ring.. Pryor's cornerman cheated the first fight, but if you ever got to see the second fight, you would have gotten to see the one thing that made Pryor good and that was Skill....The man had SKILL...
SRL avoided him because he knew that Pryor would beat him and beat him into retirement.....
I think SRL would have done the same thing he did to Hearns and that was make pryor wait five years then fight him when he was starting to get out of sync....SRL avoided Hearns for a long time before he would ever fight him, why?? Cuz Tommy would have knocked his ass clean out....
So yeah, I think SRL avoided Pryor as he did other fights he could have fought when the time was right for all included...
SRL did only one thing I felt was smart and that was to make people hold out, build up the money and then get em while they were old....
Good Luck,
Coach
If all boxers knew that all they had to do was fight the last thirty seconds of a boxing match, you better believe that alot of others would have done it also....Quote:

Good Luck,

i think hes talking about the when he retired in 1984 and comeback in 1987 and hagler wasnt shot like i said in my other post he just come off two best wins of hes career against tommy hearns and john mugabi and ray leonard hadnt fought for 3 years so he done very well to beat hagler
Sugar Ray would seem to duck people (Hearns and Hagler) but mostly it was Angelo Dundee cooking up the pre fight build up
but Pryor called out Leonard publicly and Leonard told the public that he wouldnt be fighting Pryor
STYLES MAKE FIGHTS ....i'm sure Leonard felt he could out-slick Hagler
but Pryor was accurate and very very fast and unlike most swarmers wasnt 100% brawler ...i think it makes perfect sense that Leonard could see himself winning over Hagler but not wanting to chance it over Pryor
Pryor-Hatton would have been awesome to watch,Theyd beat the $hit out of eachother lol
I can't really see how anyone can say Leonard ducked anybody. Who else boasts victories over three of perhaps the top 10 p4p guys in the history of boxing?
He would have beaten Pryor the same as he beat Wilfred Benitez

Good post until you say Pryor Hatton would have been an awesome match... Ricky would get killed.Quote:

it would be great fight i dont really like choosing because i liked both fighters
i dont think its fair people saying he fought people when they were past there prime the guy is a legend he fought everyone except pryor but if u remember leonard retired so many times i really dont think he would of ducked pryor when he fought guys like hearns duran and hagler
Bro Pryor & Leonard used to be close friends but once Leonard hit the big time he shunned Pryor. Pryor wanted help from Leonard to get exposure but Leonard wouldn't help him. Pryor asked him on numerous occasions for them to make a fight if he wanted it to be purely business & Leonard kept on saying it's a possibility but never took it further than that. IMO Leonard avoided the one guy who would show him up.Quote:

O Well!
Yeah ducked is pretty harsh on ol' Leonard, conveniently avoided or maneuvered around maybe?Quote:

Yes, Leonard avoided Pryor.
I rated him just above average as a boxer, but higher as a business minded person....Quote:

I felt that his win over Hagler was what brought a huge black eye to the sport, Hagler was the only one that seriously worked to win that fight....SRL waited till the last 30 seconds of each round to do his work....
SRL sits comfortably now because of sound business choices, not for his boxing skill....
Good Luck,
Coach
Ducked is the right term...Leonard was an all-time great and so was Pryor, except you couldn't market aaron, he was a nightmare...Leaonard knew he would take a beating and make little money for it, so why?....
where did u hear they used to be freinds ??? r u sure they didnt just make eachother aquaintence a few timesQuote:

Hagler won tha tfight, no question...if you think the opposite, quit boxing, or at least pro boxing, the amateur boxing with the "touch counter" suits you better :lickish: ;D
