Wright Ouma a possibility???
www.maxboxing.com
As fights are being slotted for the rest of the year, there seems to be a bit of a snafu in early December from what I understand. Somehow two promoters (Lou DiBella with Jermain Taylor and Artie Pellulo with Ricky Hatton) believe they have dibs on December 9th on HBO. Good thing the suits at HBO aren't air traffic controllers.
The newest rumor making the rounds is that on December 2nd, Winky Wright will face Kassim Ouma on HBO Pay-Per-View, which makes some sense (no, not that this fight is somehow pay-per-view worthy) but given that HBO loves to counter-program Showtime and that Golden Boy doesn't mind stealing some (if not a lot of) thunder from Top Rank - which has an Antonio Margarito/Miguel Cotto doubleheader that night on that other network.

Re: Wright Ouma a possibility???
This fight has the interest of senior citizen bingo night at a dance club
-
Re: Wright Ouma a possibility???
Wright Ouma is a mismatch as far as Im concerned... I would give Kasim no chance... And as for Taylor or Hatton on december 9th, it all depends on who mans up and takes a better opponent, because unless it's free HBO, Im not interested in paying for any of the possible opponents Ive heard for each so far. Urango, Urkal, Mora,..... Probably neither of these 2 cards will really be PPV worthy imo.

Re: Wright Ouma a possibility???
I think its an interesting fight and if Soliman banged up Winky's face then Ouma probably will too.
-
Re: Wright Ouma a possibility???
Wright would school Ouma atm period, stupid matchup.
-
Re: Wright Ouma a possibility???
I think winky will win ouma is a good fighter but is not as fast as soliman and he throws alot of punches but winky has superb defense. anyway winky will win a close split descision.
-
Re: Wright Ouma a possibility???
Winky has a very good chance to win this but Ouma is the best smaller guy draw out there after Margarito. Winky has called out Calzaghe but I think Winky has better chances with Carl Froch.
At least Oscar is not protecting his fighters from each other as I figured he would.

Re: Wright Ouma a possibility???
why would this fight happen?
-
Re: Wright Ouma a possibility???
Why wouldn't this fight happen? Ok, maybe it is a bit of a mismatch but why is everyone so opposed to Ouma getting a big shot? I seriously don't get why people want to condemn him to a career of undercards and co-features.
-
Re: Wright Ouma a possibility???
Ouma has been wanting to fight Winky for years from back when winky was light middleweight.
-
Re: Wright Ouma a possibility???
I don't really like winky wright, but it seems he would dominate ouma. Ouma can throw a lot of punches, but they are pitty pat punches with very little power. Wright would shit kick him all night.

Re: Wright Ouma a possibility???
I've seen wright fight (on downloads of course).
He is a boxer through and though.
And he is a good contender, if he is lucky a champion nearing the end of
his carer, or now if he really lucks out.
I've seen his record, he beat Trinidad, drew with Taylor, beat Mosley,
beat Bronco McKart.
:bounce:

I'm not against him getting his big shot. I'm against him getting a big shot against a guy who would outmatch him in every way.

Wright already was a champion and should be champ at 160 aswell.

The problem with Ouma is he dont deter so easily and just fluidly smothers his opponents its kinda like a ballerina dancing in a crowded bar I guess.....will have to see how Wink deals with relentless forward undetered pressure...

Re: Wright Ouma a possibility???
This fight would have been great a while back when Wright was still Jr. Middle champion & Ouma only had one loss & was being talked up big. But now it will only make minor ruffles in the world of boxing. Wright is to good technically for Ouma. Ouma will keep pressing & make it a interesting fight but Wright will win a wide decision.

i agree man i think its fair game that ouma gets a chance to step up and he has some chance if he works for it!
but even if he lost his career wouldnt be over, and im pretty pleased with oscar if he were to make this fight cos he should protect his fighters from one another he should make good fights regardless if both fighters are under his wing!

Re: Wright Ouma a possibility???
If its at 154, great. Its almost like a win win type situation, not many people think he has a chance so a loss wouldn't be a career killer, Winky's not the type of guy to ruin you, he'll just outbox you. And, if you have to have a style to go up against Winky with its much better to be a volume puncher than a one punch at a time power puncher, especially since Wink's getting older.
If its at 160, WTF? If Ouma moves weightclasses it should be to 147, not 160.

hehe thats pretty much strait harsh,:P
but i disagree with poom, one winky is already a ex light middle champion
beating trinidad, mosely and an argueable draw over taylor a huugee accomplishments
these three are among the elite of the generation we live in and will one day be talked of like we talk of some of the old greats imo winky could retire tomorow and obv leave alot of disapointed fans but hed still have a badass legacy!
but jumpin the gun on the retard comment a bit?
so like dont mean to be bringin it up or owt n not sayin either of yoo'd is a C unt but yeh whos a cunt man i duno who u meant. lol
peace

Bro I don't think the size would really be a matter here as Ouma is a big 154 pounder, I just think Wright would be so much better technically!
-
Re: Wright Ouma a possibility???
wright would demolish ouma the type of fighter to beat wright is a fighter with a multitude of fighting styles such as mayweather but then i wouldnt put no money on pretty boy winning

Ouma's not a big 154 lber, he's a big welterweight if he ever competed there.

Re: Wright Ouma a possibility???
Ouma is still an unfinished product when it comes to style and Ouma hasn't found his yet. He looks like a stylish defensive counterpuncher in some fights and a throw 100 punches fighter in other fights. I guess in twists he's a defensive entertaining counterpuncher but in cornrows he's a 100 punches a round come forward fighter. He impressed me more in his 3rd fight back on Friday Night Fights then he did with the way he looked by beating Powell.
