Looking around in this forum I did't find an acquaintance-topic, so i'll introduce myself like this. I hope that's ok!
Who am I?
Well, as you can see, my nickname is Killerqueen. It's a nick given to me by my trainers. "You're a killer, you're a queen, a real killerqueen," thus Chris and Steven. I'm a 34-year old Dutch woman (so pardon my sometimes not so correct Enlish ;) )who started boxing two years ago this Januari.
An old age to start, and yes, i wish i started about 15 years earlier, but did'nt so there you have it.
It doesn't stop me from doing all that i can to be the best boxer i can be though. I train three times a week, and two days i run. I've been in two demo-matches so far and won both (first one on points, second one de towl was trown in at the beginning of the third round ;D). When I started boxing I weighted about 107kg, a year later its 81kg so that's a nice benefit.
On september the 16th I have my first official fight and I can't wait. I can only fight officially for one year because the Dutch bond only allows you to box until you're 35 (i'm talking amateurboxing here). So in that year i'm going to fight as much as possible.
After that year i might start the trainerscourse for children. We have quit a few kids running around here, but the trainers áre not in the opportunity to do much with them, which is a shame. Our boxing school is completely run by volunteer (diplomated, that they are) trainers with long boxing records in amateurboxing, and the two headtrainers who started the union "Haagse Directe" six years ago have also been profboxers for a couple of years. But in normal daily live they all have regular jobs, so hence the lack of time. In amateurboxing they bring a lot of Dutch champions, and i'm hoping to be one of them around April next year 8)
Now, why am I here? The boxingcommunity in the Netherlands is rather small. So i thought, let's check the 'outherworld' and see what's out there. I don't know that much about the boxing world yet, and have but a slight idea about how's hot and who's not in (pro-)boxing. I hope to get wiser here :)
