"Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather and Carlos Manuel "Tata" Baldomir square off for the WBC welterweight championship in an HBO Pay Per View event on November 4 at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The announcement was made today by Dan Goossen, President of Goossen Tutor Promotions, which is promoting the event in association with Sycuan Ringside Promotions. "First of all, we're ecstatic to see the 'true grit' abilities and determination of the modern day 'Cinderella Man' taking on the likes of Mayweather, clearly on the road to becoming one of the greatest of all time," Goossen declared. "Secondly, Mayweather-Baldomir on paper, conjures up thoughts as a 'Fight of the Year' candidate and from a sports fan's perspective this bout represents the linear world welterweight champion in Baldomir going against the pound for pound best in Mayweather. Mayweather continues to face champions in higher weight classes. This spectacular extravaganza will determine if 'size matters' when Baldomir tries to impose his will and strength on Mayweather or will the "Pretty Boy" show the world once again 'size doesn't matter' when fighting the best pound for pound fighter in the world?"
Cory Spinks' manager Kevin Cunningham had previously told the press that a November 4 bout between Spinks and Mayweather was "99% done."

Re: "Pretty Boy" will show the world once again "size doesn't matter"
Floyd will be Boxing a statue that nite, Baldo is slow as shat and as agile as a piece of construction equipment....Problem though is Floyd will be hitting a Rock as well that Somebitch is like the terminator he just keeps moving forward....Dont know if Floyd can KO him maybe cause Floyd has the Stamina of an Ethiopian marathon runner he'll be mixing it up by standing in the pocket and Rolling and countering and Making Baldo swing and miss then potshotting and having Baldo chasing him allnite he might Tire Baldy out and put him away late.... it will prolly look like this :jabbing:

Re: "Pretty Boy" will show the world once again "size doesn't matter"
Ahh Another fight to be excited for :) I've been waiting for him to sign a contract for a while now. Hopefully this will get him some good PR. Eventhough everybody wants to see him fight Margarito :P This will be a good fight for his reputation because instead of going up in weight real quick he's gonna fight one of the top guys in the division and gain some recognition.

Yep...pretty sure it is.
This is the fight that I wanted Floyd to take. Should be great. This would be one of the better fights out there...based not only on what my guy (PBF) has to gain...but also based on what Baldo brings to the table from a fan's point of view.
He's on like a 21 fight winning streak & he has been impressive with his recent wins...excluding the two draws...Baldo is the best competition out there technically. He brings much more cred than anyone else out there.
You never know...this could turn out to be FOTY. Stranger things.

Also...did I mention that the WBC, IBO, & IBA Welterweight straps are all on the line?
Baldomir will probably throw out the best performance of his career. This should be one hell of a gutty fight & if he shows up half as determined as he was against both Gatti & Judah...Floyd is going to have a ruff night.
I love the thoughts of it. ;D

Ah it sounds like a real classic, and i been disapointed with alot of fights that looked good on paper as of late, and i believe alot recent champions have been undeserving, but if anythings goner bring out the best in the welterwight division its this fight , gold on the line two bad bad men, its all there, baldo is a genuine threat for floyd so his game has gotta be on,
and at this stage in his career baldo cant let slip its as good a time as he'll ever get .
what is it november 4th? roll on winter:p

Lol.....I was thinking the same thing, but i'am suprised this fight is happening. It made more sense for PBF to fight Spinks since he said that he wanted titles in 5 different weight classes b4 he reached 30.Oh well....atleast we get to see a better fight.I expect Baldomir to do good in this fight,or atleast better then Floyd's other recent opponents.

Re: "Pretty Boy" will show the world once again "size doesn't matter"
gdgd this is the fight we wanted to see, noone cared about spinks
-
Re: "Pretty Boy" will show the world once again "size doesn't matter"
I'm not falling for it. This fight is a mismatch Floyd will win easily.
-
Re: "Pretty Boy" will show the world once again "size doesn't matter"
stranger things have happened but that PU$$Y floyd only takes fights he knows he can win so he must(and his camp must) see something that makes him think he'll win easily :-\

Re: "Pretty Boy" will show the world once again "size doesn't matter"
Well I know that that neither Gatti or Judah can hold a candle to Centon right now!

Cintron isn't that good, he may have been considered dangerous but Margarito took his heart and Cintron won't ever be the same. Whatever he was he isn't anymore. I think his career is basically over. And if Estrada can get him hurt and almost out I think Gatti and or Judah would beat him worse.
-
Re: "Pretty Boy" will show the world once again "size doesn't matter"
Well i think Cintron did a better against Estada than Mosley did.
-
Re: "Pretty Boy" will show the world once again "size doesn't matter"
Although not my favorate boxer, I do respect the skill of Mayweather. That being said when is he going to take a chance and fight someone that poses a threat, instead of fighting all these guys that he is expected to beat. Cotto or Delahoya. In my mind Miguel Cotto is the best pound for pound at this time.

Mayweather gets his ass handed to him by Mosley! Mosley will knock that little punk out within 7.

You lost me on that one...why does posting something that someone else wrote make you think that I'm delusional?

Re: "Pretty Boy" will show the world once again "size doesn't matter"
PBF will give baldozar his ass on a silver plate and make him eat it. ;D lol j/k but i do belive that PBF will this one but by 12 ud baldozars chin is too good. did u see how hard he got hit by gatti!!! he didnt even budge unless PBF goes to the body and we all know how good his body shots are ;) so it maybe by ko who knows. it will be a good fight.
-
Re: "Pretty Boy" will show the world once again "size doesn't matter"
I'm predicting a hard fought UD for PBF. Baldi's chin is effing granite nothing seems to phase him. Unless like someone else said PBF goes straight to the body all night long then we might see a TKO but I highly doubt it.
-
Re: "Pretty Boy" will show the world once again "size doesn't matter"
man this is gonna be one hell of a fight
i cant wait to finally see my man mayweather have to shed some blood and sweat
yes mayweather will land many shots but he's gonna have to do the hit and run thing
cause punches in bunches wouldnt be wise against a guy that huge
baldy is pretty good with countering too and he's got punching power.... he knocked out gatti didnt he?
yes floyd will most likely go to the body but he's gonna have to be careful when going there (keep your hands up floyd and get out of there as quickly as possible)
im pretty sure floyds gonna eat a few haymakers that night.
i hope to see floyd pull it out like never before............
or floyd could completely dominate...........
or baldy could land one too many haymakers and KO floyd.
i just want to see a great fight.

Re: "Pretty Boy" will show the world once again "size doesn't matter"

what exactly has cotto accomplished to be #1 p4p?
i like the guy and think hes gonna be great in a few years, but i would like to see him fight some marquee names
-
Re: "Pretty Boy" will show the world once again "size doesn't matter"
PBF will beat Baldomir almost as easy as Clottey did.
I hate to admit it because Cotto is one of my favorite fighters but like Floyed he has been protected by HBO in order to milk him of all he is worth. The difference between Cotto and PBF is that Cotto's last opponents turned out to be surprisingly tough as nails.
