Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
Just woundering coz I have a grand (£1000) in the bank I am saving to go and watch this fight if it ever happens.
After Hatton beat KT,and Mayweather beat Gatti it looked a dead sert now I am not so sure.
Its hard to see who is dodging who,I used to think Mayweather was running scared but now I am not so sure.
They both seem happy to avoid each other. :'(

Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
ner i dont think any of em are but the negotiations are goner be a bitch when where what wieght and with mayweather looking to go to light middle and fight de la hoya and on the other hand ricky is having second thoughts about welter , floyd goin up ricky goin down so its a shambles and floyd has plans, ricky is finding it slightly harder to find the right fights at the moment. but its fair to say they dont like eachother ricky tried to introduce himself at taylor-hopkins 1 and pretty boy floyd told ricky im'a getchoo boy n all that , i think it ended up ricky tellin him to fuck off and wouldnt let him past to get to his seat along the row so he was escorted round the block. lol floyd said in an interview that its jus business he says me n ricky can be friends after we fight but until then he dont wana know about pleasantries! lol

I get the impression that Hatton wants the fight more than FM.

Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
I dont think so mate, both moving in different directions at the moment. Hattons team are having enough trouble pinning down second tier opposition at the moment, let alone getting someone as difficult as Floyd in the ring.
Spend your money on Hatton Castillo ;)
-
Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
I dont tink either are dodging anyone...  (hate floyd, love Hatton) But much respect to both.  It is true negotiations would be disgustingly rough between the 2...  I have my fingers crossed as it would be a classic puncher boxer bout and as an American(not a Brit) I will honestly say I want Hatton to knock his FWOCKIN head off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^-^ ^-^ ;D

Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
This fight is definitely not on the horizon for the next couple years and if as is likely Floyd goes up to 154 lb and Ricky back down to 140 lb then I can't see this ever happening.
To be honest I'm not bothered as I think Ricky would get beaten up and dismantled pretty bad. Not even a close fight in my opinion, another Coralles for Floyd.

I have to reluctantly agree but Hatton has a punchers chance as long as he can do it in the first few rounds... :-[

hattons camp arent looking for second tier? if he decides to stay at welter and defend against otkay that is mandatory!! and they are moving in separate directions, mayweather is lookin for de la hoya at light middle and theres talk of hatton droppin back to light welter, i might be confused but that is what you were doubting right?
" believe me when i say this, the best is yet to come" -Ricky Hatton.

IMO both men need a superfight.
The only super fight Hatton has had was KT and FM seems happy to fight blokes coming off loses such as Zab and Mitchal.
I think Hatton has the style to beat FM and FM knows that.
Hatton has lost his way abit after leaving the Warren team.

Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
The boxing world NEEDS this fight. If you asked 1000 which 2 current fighters they would pay most to see get it on then I think more than 50% of them would say Hatton vs Mayweather. It would be the most important fight of the decade IMO, because its UK vs USA, both are hugely popular/liked/disliked by every boxing fan and also because they are a classic stylistic match-up.

Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
Mayweather has no issues fighting the best at 147 and even going up to 154 while hatton tasted 147 one time and has decided to go down.

Why won't Hatton give Collazo the rematch he promised he would is the question you should ask first!
-
Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
When did hatton promise a rematch, ermmm never!
-
Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
He promised a rematch at the post fight press conference!!! ;)

Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
If thats what he said then i hope one day we get to see it, I also think Hatton can do much more as a welter. When he moved up he broke a very tried and tested regime, with adjustment over time I think he could do much better as a welter than he did, and he didn't do badly against a very very good fighter in Luis Collazo. In thime i think people will realise that Collazo is a potential P4P top 10 fighter.

Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
My ideal situation here would be for Floyd to take Baldomirs championship then make 140 pounds to face Hatton with both championships on the line!

I think you are going a bit overboard with Collazo.
He's a decent welterweight sure but he's nowhere near the top ten p4p.
Off the top of my head I can think of at least a dozen welters who would rate above or equal to him, Mayweather, Margarito, Baldomir, Spinks (if he comes back down), Cotto( if he moves up), Zab Judah, (still a top class fighter), Quintana (on a par), Cintron, Williams, Mosely (if he comes down), Julio (still great potential and he says he wants back at 147lb, Ishe Smith (great talent though credibility was damaged by Contender, Clottey (could be a dark horse), and Andre Berto who is definitely a top prospect to look out for and might yet settle into welter division as he rarely weighs more than 150 for a fight.
Considering the potential depth of talent at 147 now I'd say Colazzo will be forgotten within a couple years

I agree with what your saying but put Collazo in with any of the guys you mentioned bar Mayweather & he'd be even money IMO

mayweather has already issued the challenge twice, and hattons team said ricky isnt ready for floyd but maybe in 07 (thats what they were saying at the time, and with the trouble ricky had at 147 it seems like less of a possibility now)

Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
i dont blame PBF tho before this was his biggest fight out there. but if OSCARS and option shiiiiiiiiit PBF should do everything it takes to make the OSCAR fight go happen. that will be his biggest mother pay day ever! 20million reasons. if PBF choses to fight Hatton on his bday in feb then that would be good, but i dont really see it happening until after the 20million oscar pay day.
out of curiousity how much is that amound of money if u converted it into US dollars for us ignorant US folks?

No, thats the question YOU should ask first. No one else gives a fuck.

Hear that first guy, wants to save a $1,000 to goto the scene!
If his reading this, bet it on Mayweather!

Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
With PBF moving to 154 for the Oscar fight and probably his next fight too, unless Hatton comes to 1147 after the Oscar fight,I don't see it happening, unless Floyd drops back to 140 at some time but that's alot of weight jumping! As for Collazo,he's a dangerous opponent and I admit,I did not think much of him at first but I think he's a good fighter.Hatton did promise a rematch and Collazo said he would go to England but I don't see it happening!
-
Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
IMO that should have been the fight to make. Hatton Collazo in the states isnt that big, but take it to the UK and its a winner.
-
Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
Mayweather should grow a pair and have his 'tune-up' with Mosely. But I don't think that will happen any time soon. A shot Gatti, who even at his prime, could not compete with the skills of Mayweather, is nothing to write home about. For fuks sake, Gatti had to battle against a game but B class fighter in Mickey Ward. I think he lost a lot after the previous beatings. That being said, even a non-injured and primed Gatti would have been no match for Mayweather.
Is Mayweather becoming another RJJ? SEEMS TO BE TAKING THE PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE!
GROW A PAIR FLOYD; you're a rich man already. Give the boxing fans what they deserve and stop being such a penny-pinching twit.
That is, if he is brave enough.

Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
You know what I see Floyd following DLH like a lost little puppy. He's going to have to run a gauntlet to get to him (through Mosley or Wright or Ouma) and if Floyd looks good in doing it Oscar will whip that huge carrot from under his nose faster than you can say retirement. De La Hoya will laugh his arse off all the while.

I have heard quite a few people say the same thing, not the gauntlet part but the part about Oscar not fighting him. As funny as I would find that,it'd also too hard to believe,I mean, why? He would be lsing out on 1 MORE HUUUUUGE payday!

I'm in 100% agreement!

Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
hatton needs to fight mayweather, so us hatton fans can laugh when flloyd gets knocked out with a hatton left hook to the body in the 11th round, if hatton wants 140, and flloyd wants 154, go 147!
unfortunetly i think greed and a lack of bollocks will stop this fight from ever happeneing
-
Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
I'm no longer 100% sure that this fight is going to happen...it would appear that Floyd is on the rise & that there are too many other showdowns out there that Floyd can make some insane cash at.
I wonder if it would prove any points if Floyd went & stenciled his name across Collazo's forehead convincingly? ;D
-
Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
This thread is a little silly. Everyone knows that Hatton got Floyd's name out of his mouth even before he almost lost to Collazo. As Frozensolid said, the word before that fight from hatton's camp was that "hatton isn't ready for floyd yet," maybe in 3-4 fights. Then he almost lost to Collazo, said that 147 was definitely not his weight, started talking about moving down, refused the rematch he promised to Collazo, and used the excuse of "I have to fight mandatories (to keep this belt that no one cares about--right after giving up 3 belts in another division)" while lining up potential fights with no-name bums. And now we find out that Kostya's shoulder was seriously injured and required surgery when Hatton beat him. Personally, I don't have much interest in seeing this fight. Hatton is a B+ fighter at best, and this would not be a close fight.
-
Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
Mayweather is Roy Jones the 2nd.It reminds me of the way Jones avoided Nigel Benn like the plage to take fights no body wanted to watch.
If Hatton is such an easy fight for FM why dose he not make a load of money for an easy nights work.
I challenge anyone to say they were excited about FM last 3 or 4 fights.2 unbeaten fighters in there prime seems to me a natural fight to happen. Unless someone is a bit chicken
-
Re: Will Hatton vs Mayweather ever happen???????????????
PEOPLE!!!! HATTON DOESN'T WANT THIS FIGHT!!!! After he watched PBF destroy Gatti in person, front row and center, he wanted no part of this fight. His own team has been saying for almost a year now that they won't be ready for PBF until 2007. So why are people acting like PBF is ducking Ricky? Ricky's team doesn't want this fight yet.

Have you not kept up with the news or read any of this thread? Hatton stopped asking to fight Floyd even before he got exposed by Collazo. This fight is not in high demand, and Hatton has abandoned his gift WW strap to run as fast as he can away from Collazo, PBF and the rest of the WW division. There's no question that "someone is a bit chicken."
