Hagler
Hagler! I remember watching it and wondering at the end how the hell they got the decision so wrong. I was convinced Hagler won it by a wide margin. I rewatched recently and had Hagler winning 7 rounds to 5. Either way Hagler was ROBBED!!!!
Hagler won the fight. Leonard bought the judges
Leonard won that fight imo.
I think of all the opinions so far I was the only one to see it live. AS i was about 38 at the time not 6 or 10 and the 6 people who were with me including 2 world champs thought Lenoard knicked it.
No offense but if you were 38 then I guess you are now at an age where you memories are fading fast and we consequently shouldn't take anything you say seriously.Quote:

I was 13 at the time and thought Hagler won the fight....I watched it as recently as 6 months ago and STILL think Hagler won the fight...Quote:

Well of course you would at 13 memory sticks in the mind. Be it right or wrong, but the impression never alters. Selective ideals, nothing new dont worry about it
The exact same for me. 13 when I first saw it, rewatched it within the last 3 months and still think Hagler won. I watched it on TV by myself and when they announced the decision I remember looking around the room wondering what the hell just happened. My first disappointment with boxing.Quote:

I scored it on the first 1:30 and last. the last 20 seconds couldn't sway me unless there was a Knock Down or something major...none of that happened....Hagler won the fight....Quote:

Now there you are I know now which type of fighter you prefer. The guy who goes forward wins it for you every time I bet, tell the truth
I still like Hagler....I wanted him to win sure...never lost money just lost a little more faith in the judges.Quote:

I'm not frustrated by no means....Hagler beat him Orthadox and he would have killed him had he stayed Southpaw the whole fight. Kinda like ODLH only different handed....Quote:

i watched the fight yesterday, and loaned the tape to a friend today... the thing that really frustrates me about the fight is that i thought that there was too much holding AND running AND low blows by leonard. i believe you should have to take the belt from the champion and you can't do that by holding everytime the champ comes near you, or by throwing a shot and then running away. the referee should have deducted points for the holding, cause he was telling leonard that he was holding. he actually warned him about 20 times...! at some point the warnings have to stop and the penalties have to follow. i simply can't reward someone for throwing three clean shots and then running for 10-20 seconds and then throwing a few shots and running again. how is that beating a champion? when hagler hit leonard, leonard was getting hurt. had the fight gone another round leonard would have been KOd, had the fight been 15 rounder, which it was supposed to be, hagler woulda won. HAGLER UD
exactly....and let me be the first to congratulate you on your 1000 post....CC bro!!!!!!Quote:

Marvin.....Unless you believe Forrest beat Quartey
Leonard won ... He hit Hagler more, and IMO looked more impressive... However, the second Hearns fight he lost blatantly.
I didnt think he looked that impressive. He slapped and ran all night. When he did flurry it was at the very end of every round. Granted this strategy did win him the fight from the judges, but they just flat out got it wrong. IMO you cant win a fight by running all night and slapping anytime you got close to the other fighter.Quote:

Actually the black eye for the sport wasn't the decision, it was Hagler's actions in retirement instead of trying to get the victory back
cc Starr exactly Haglar acted like a spoiled chump & spat the dummy. Leonard won that fight it wasn't even that close in my opinion, sure Hagler came on strong near the end, but it was his own fault for giving into Leonards every demand & fighting 12 rounds instead of 15. Hagler would have scored a KO if he had stuck to his guns instead of bending for the big payday!Quote:

And theres no way flurries at the last seconds counts as taking a round either.Quote:

it had to be that way or leonard would never have fought Hagler!! Hagler made that fight happen!!Quote:
