James Toney puts rumors to rest!!!!

As James “Lights Out” Toney continues to train for his upcoming September 2 main event heavyweight showdown with Samuel “The Nigerian Nightmare” Peter at LA’s Staples Center, he continues to snipe and sneer at his critics who continue to harp on his weight and spread rumors that he isn’t training. But he is not losing sleep over them or his nightmarish opponent. Rather he has visions of what the future holds with a victory.

Toney, sweaty and surly, briefly entertained – and summarily dismissed -- a group of reporters today following a closed -
- and apparently rigorous -- workout at trainer Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Hollywood..

True whites are those who experienced the same cultural heritage of the classical civilisations and Christianity, i.e good old Brittania, the good ole land of the free and the brave America, and the Western European nations like Italy, France, Holland and Germany.

The Russians and Eastern Europeans have a completely different heritage and cultural background to Western Europeans, i.e Atheism rather than belief in God, Communism rather than capitalism, Islamic influence rather than Christian etc.

So to me none of the Russian champs so far count as a White champion from a western American, British perspective.

This isn't racism it's just awareness of cultural and historical differences.

Until Britain or America produce a white heavyweight champ then there hasn't been a true white heavyweight.

For the Ruskies however, there have now been 4 white heavyweights, but if a British or American white boxer won the title he wouldn't count towards their total.

Well done, it's rare to meet somebody on a forum who can understand that acknowleding racial differences does not equate to being racist.

All I am saying, and at least you can agree is that a Russian heavyweight is as far removed from being of British or American descent than are black Africans or Japanese.

It's not racist in the slightest to say that as an Englishman (or American) we share no cultural, religious or ideological heritage whatesover to Russians, so there has still not been a White heavyweight in the sense that a British or American fan would like to see.

I'm sure if Tommy Morrison became undisputed heavyweight champ, that the Russians would look on him in the same way, that he is American and therefore no more close to being Russian than Evander Holyfield or Mike Tyson. So they wouldn't think , great WE have a White Heavyweight world champion now.


Thats all I am saying, that a White Russian isn't a White British or American and so WE (America and Britain) are still looking for a great white hope!

I am not sure where you are talking about, but I agree with you on this statment. At least with how it pertains to me personally. I am not comfortable in public as it is. You set me down in the middle of chinatown or little italy and I might go into convulsions and die. I do not hate other races, but I am certainly aware of it when I am one of the few people of my own race within earshot.

I have plenty of black friends and way too many white ones, but outside of those two races I hardly come in contact with anything else. In school that was a different story, but as an adult 99% of my friends are black or white.

When I am at a family gathering of one of my black friends I feel funny being the only white person there. Not because I hate them or they hate me, but because there is strength in numbers.

Race wars don't really happen on an individual level but when it's mass against mass. At least not in this country

James Toney is great, I love that about him ! the trash talk , he is just spectacular, the main reason is he back up his sh*^ for the most part thats makes it fun . ... its when guys can't back it , that gives me headache. Toney is pure entertainment. and entertainment does have value !

I respect him as a fighter, boxer and tactition... just think he needs to sort his attitude out... fair points but I honestly think he should be taking the fight to the taller guys.

Because thats how he will win... by getting inside... scoring points and being gone. I think very few of today’s Heavyweight fighters are going to out work James ,most of the Heavyweights look spent before the bell rings. To be honest it’s a Lazy ass division. Toney thinking why train hard? , everyone sucks . You need the Holyfield type fighters to get Toney motivated. fighters Toney respects. Now Sam Peter ought to provide the threat level to get Toney back in shape.

I miss the Evander Holyfield days , Evander made his opponents get in the best possible shape , because they knew they had no chance to win unless they were at their best, You look at today’s guys and you think, fuck it.. I can beat these guys after drinking a case of Beer. No threat Level. Sloppy slow tired looking division , with the exception a few up and comers Chaz Witherspoon for example might provide us with some sustained action .

Side note * Champions like Oleg Maskive will raise the dead ! And with #1 Contenders like John Ruiz. Who needs to train? Its sad but true.

Yeah, the division lacks warriors like Holyfeild.

All of the generation that should be fighting at heavyweight are playing football or basketball... a lot of the division are big athletes there because it's open for them.

America is also populated with millions of people with eurasian blood due to immigrations over the last couple hundred years so if you think our Caucasions are somehow more pure or more simlar to your concieved original Caucasian than those of Eastern Europeans or Russians are; then you have no concept of Biology, History,anthropology, Paleoanthroplogy, ethnology or culture.

Well actually you say I don't have a clue but it's you guys who are clearly ignorant of the meaning of my posts.

I'm not talking about race or genetics or anything like that. All I am saying is that it has always been a popular source of interest in the heavyweight division to find a great White hope as there hasn't been a decent white heavyweight in most of our lifetimes. Marciano was but that was years ago and so doesn't count now.

Now we are in a situation where all the heavyweight champions are white Eastern Europeans. All I am saying is that for Britain and America these 4 do not count as being the Great White Hope because they are all Russian.

As far as I am concerned I have more in common with a black American than a Russian. Christian religion, democracy, freedom of speech, captalism etc than I do with an Eastern European, communism, atheism, no freedom of speech etc.

Now before you telly me that times have changed and the SOviet Union has collapsed and they are now democratic blah blah blah, yes I know, but the point remains that historically they are still a completely alien culture to myself as an Englishman so therefore their White heavyweight champions are not MY White Heavyweight champions, and that until Britain or America produce a White heavyweight champion, then I/WE fellow Brits Americans, have NOT got a White heavyweight world champ.

Just another example, when America sent white men to the moon in 1969, Russian did not share in that space race victory, because the astronauts, although White, were American and NOT Russian. If the astronauts were black, they would still have been American and NOT Russain.
