Why is there no talk about making this fight happen. Seems that neither of these guys have made a fight happen for their scheduled fight day.

They had a deal but then talks were kind of ruined after Castillo flaked out on Corrales. I think that in the minds of Cotto's camp, Castillo is damaged goods.
I think with Cotto moving to 147 it makes it harder to make this fight. But I'd expect a great, great fight. Although Castillo is a monster at 135 I think Cotto would win by decision if the fight was made now.
Arum is pissed at Castillo, who is still waiting on the hearing where he must likely get suspended and hefty fine.
Castillo really messed his chances against Cotto up.
Cotto hasn't officially announced his move yet.....If things play out right this fight might be under way mid 2007.Quote:

Dude I don't know why everyones on Castillo's case all he did was not make weight. It's not like he bit his opponents ear, or threatened a ref, or pulled a sucker punch after the fight. He just didn't make weight it's not that big of a crime. Sure we missed out on a great fight but remember Corrales was the one who called of the fight. Looking at Castillo on those scales he would have been an easy mark for Corrales. The dude looked totally drained.Quote:

Oh and the reason he cant fight cotto in december is because bob arum wanted NOTHING to do with it at this time. Sweet bro I know what your saying, but it wasn't Castillo who said no to fighting. I know what weight classes are for but people make to much outta the weight difference. Walker & Greb used to fight heavyweights! Corrales should have gone on with the fight but made a condition that Castillo could not gain more than so many pounds before fight time. Sure everyone missed out but Castillo was willing to fight!!! A fine I'm happy with a suspention is crap. He didn't break no laws, just didn't make weight.Quote:

4 1/2 pounds is considerable when you think about it. Remember that after a couple hours he actually came back heavier (143 or something). Chico did the right thing to walk away. It was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful and that's not even considering the attempt to cheat the scales.
I don't know why Hatton or Cotto would trust this guy to live up to his end of a contract with them. Who's to say he coud even make 140 now?
147 is more realistic but he'll probably come in at 153 for the weigh in.

Ain't no one lost faith in Miguel. Cotto is on the fast track to stardom! If he was to fight Castillo,as long as he stayed on the outside,he would outbox Castillo. Fight does not look like it will ever happen though.
Castillo's definitely been dissapointing, I don't even think he tried to make weight for the second fight and I also thought that helped him out. If you have one guy drying out to make weight and the other guy not, the guy who's not is gonna have a strength advantage. So I don't know why he even agreed to the third fight.
I'll still enjoy watching him fight, he's an exciting fighter, but he needs to get his shit together and move up to 140. He should be punished, but it won't make a huge difference, even if its a year suspension it would just be in Vegas.
Back to the original point, I'd favor Castillo to beat Cotto at 140 in a good fight, but with Cotto moving up to 147 its not really looking like a possible matchup.
