Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s record!"
Baldomir: "Mayweather is making same mistake as Gatti and Judah"
http://www.secondsout.com/USA/news.cfm?ccs=229&cs=20176
By Ant Evans: WBC and linear welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir believes that Floyd Mayweather Junior is already making cataclysmic miscalculations, just one week after they signed for their WBC/IBO/IBF unification match November 4 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas (HBO).
With manager Javier Zapata serving as translator, the journeyman turned world champion told SecondsOut: "Already Mayweather is making the huge mistake of underestimating me and making plans for what he is going to do after he beats me. But he's not going to beat me."
The 35-year-old Argentine continued: "When I fought Zab Judah in January, he was disrespecting me by already having signed to fight Floyd Mayweather in April. But I beat him badly. I could tell in the first round, as soon as I hit him, that he couldn't beat me.
"Then, with Gatti (July 22), he was (apparently) already agreed to fight Ricky Hatton after he beat me. But he didn't beat me - I knocked him out. I took his best and knocked him out.
"And now Mayweather is already (committed) to fighting in February and again against Oscar De La Hoya in May. He won't get to Oscar De La Hoya as an unbeaten fighter. He won't even get to February."
However Baldomir, 43-9-6 (13KOs), said that he doesn't feel angry that he continues to be overlooked and extended little respect despite two impressive wins already in 2006.
Baldomir is a journeyman turned world beater out of the mould of a Glen Johnson. Even though he has only been stopped once - 12 years ago in a fight against Paulo Alejandro Sanchez - and has gone unbeaten since 1998, his victories over Judah and now Gatti have surprised many to the point where it is as if Judah and Gatti lost the fights, rather than Baldomir winning them.
"Respect will come as I keep on winning," he said. "I wasn't angry when Judah still got the Mayweather fight after I beat him. As you keep winning people have to respect you eventually."
However, Roger Mayweather, who will be training nephew Floyd for the November fight despite serving a 12 month ban from actually working the Pretty Boy's corner, said that his fighter will certainly not be underestimating Baldomir.
"Baldomir is a real fighter," Mayweather told SecondsOut. "I don't care that people say he's big and strong - that don't mean nuthin' in boxing if you are skilled - but you have to respect what he's done this year. He beat Zab. No excuses, he beat him good. Then he knocked out Gatti, but then didn't do it as quick as Floyd did it (w rsf 6 the last year).
"But we will be preparing hard for this man. He's beaten two named fighters this year and that's the criteria we have for agreeing to fighting someone. You got two name fighters on your record - we take you seriously."
When asked whether that was the reason Team Mayweather elected to fight Baldomir rather than vocal WBO champion Antonio Margarito, Mayweather asked: "Can you spot two named fighters on that mother-f*****'s record?"
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh ha ha ha ha!!! The man's got a point.
As far as Baldo's concerned...he's a natural big bwoy & he may MAY give Mayweather a fight...I hope Floyd starches him though...even though I got respect for Baldo & what he's done...Floyd is still my guy!

Baldimor is a good fight... Margarito is not... I'm sick to death of Floyd haters and their new found mouthy hero...
Floyd is A class, he is C class... I don't care how exciting he is to watch, or how much he runs his mouth, or how much you hate PBF...
He hasn't earned his shot like Baldimor has.

I think Mayweather Baldomir was the correct fight. For Margarito the correct fight has got to be Paul Williams. If he can take out the 'The Punisher', and judgin by his performance against Sharmba I think he could knock him out that will give him some more bargaining power.
On the other hand though, I guess people would just say well who has Williams beat?
But still ,thats the best fight out there right now for Tony

Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s record!"
I wish that Baldomir kick Mayweather´s ass.
-
Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s reco
This was definitely the right fight for Floyd, he's fighting the welterweight champion of the world. Why should he face Margarito who is only a contender when he can fight & win the world championship? Floyd takes Baldomir to school.
-
Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s record!"
I think Baldo is defintely the correct fight too. (even though i cant see him winning in a million years)
I like Floyds "new" critera for picking opponents.
-
Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s reco
i hope baldi catches him good. I really do.
pbf is fast, and it will be tough for baldi..but i hope it happens.
-
Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s record!"
I agree with everyone here, this was the correct fight, and Baldi deserves his shot at the best before Margarito
-
Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s record!"
I hope that runner gets his butt kicked,
Hope he gets taught a good lesson for running for most his career.
I should kick his butt, that little muppet #@!!?#@!#@!!?#@!#@!!?#@!

:coolclick: bang on!

Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s reco
mayweather was right not to choose margarito. he's right. there are no name fighters on his record
-
Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s record!"
Mayweather fights and beats Margarito for 8 million everyone will be aware and exposed to the hype job he is and Mayweather will get nothing from it once it's exposed how not on the level Margarito is to Floyd.
He fights Baldomir for more and wins he's the recognized 147 pound champ.
hmm...
-
Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s record!"
If we all step away from PBF ..its easy to see that Baldomir deserves this match up more so than Margarito...
Baldomir is a stand up guy - and he's a blessing for the sport....good luck to him...
(still think PBF wins UD)
-
Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s record!"
Margarito is merely the guy everyone WISHES would beat floyd. Same with gatti, he was the guy everyone HOPED would beat floyd. So to get their own hopes up they must hype up the guy they are supporting. Margarito would lose against mayweather, tko or ud. I dont like mayweathers attitude sometimes but i cant look away from the mans unbelievable skill.

When asked whether that was the reason Team Mayweather elected to fight Baldomir rather than vocal WBO champion Antonio Margarito, Mayweather asked: "Can you spot two named fighters on that mother-f*****'s record?"
Whats in name? Anyway?
But check this out and hear me out.
OK...OK....OK......So when PBF elected to fight Sharmba Mitchelle, who had Mitchelle faught in order for PBF to fight him at 147? Here I'll tell you Chris Smith who was 19-1-1 thats who Mitchelle had faught, plus Mitchelle didn't bring shet! to the table.
Then PBF decides an already done with ZAB, who had just lost to Baldomir and WAS NO LONGER a champ in any way shape or form. But the IBF decided to leave the belt with the looser because the IBF didn't get their 'cut' of the pie.
So now a legit Welter whos been there almost his entire career who has a belt (better then NO belt like Mithchelle or a tarnished belt that ZAB brought into the fight) is ready to fight him and is calling him out can't get a shot. Please. Who had Manuel Gomez faught prior to Tony? Doesn't matter fact of the matter is he had earned a shot and Tony gave him one. As far as names on his record hes faught everyonr who has chosen to fight him, it's not his fault Mosley, Baldomir & ZAB didn't want to boogie. Hes just looking for what he deserves and thats a shot. Think if he aint shet! and all that you PBF lovers & Tony haters say he aint how is he ranked among the best and #2 (on average) in mostly EVERYBODYS Welter. list?
'nough said. 8)

Memphis you can lock this thread up now. ;)

Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s record!"
Fighting Margarito back then didn't make sense and now that there is Baldomir there isn't any sense fighting Margarito now either. Margarito needs to stop bitching and keep fighting so that he can earn his right to fight the P4P#1. Baldomir came, saw, and conquered and that's why he gets to fight PBF. Margarito came, saw, did a lil and started bitching.

And fighting Mitchelle did? ;)

Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s record!"
Fighting MItchell or Margarito made equal sense back then. Matter of fact people knew more of Mitchell than Margarito. Margarito is a good fighter but he and his fans need to stop bitching.

My man lets keep it real...You are right it made more sense to fight Mitchelle who had only 1 fight at Welterweight beating a 19-1-1 fighter and previous to that fight had been TKO'ed by Tszyu @ 140. Offcourse it made more sense. What he was looking for was a easy victory at 147 so he could win his debut as a Welter. against a guy who had fought just once at that weight. Instead of fighting a REAL Welter. You are right it did make more sense to fight Mitchelle.
-
Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s record!"
But nobody knew about Margarito. I didn't find out about him until I joined Saddo. On the other hadn I watched Mitchell 3 times.
-
Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s record!"
So your saying it makes more sense that he faught Mitchelle who you knew (from 3 previous fights at 140) then him fighting a legit Welterweight Champ?
Check this out. Hatton was at 140 he moved up to 147. You mean to tell me it would have made more sense to you if he wold have faught lets say Arturo Gatti or Juan Lazcano rather then fighting Collazo a belt holder and a legit Welterweight?
Come on lets keep it real.
-
Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s record!"
I don't know the reasoning behind PBF fighting MItchell or Hatton fighting Collazo but I know that I'd take the fight that makes $ense, money wise.
-
Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s record!"
Read my signature below not the ZAB one. ;D
The 2nd one. Does that make $en$e?
This was before ZAB-PBF and after ZAB-PBF had faught.

Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s record!"
I am sick to death of people sayin Floyd has to fight Margarito!!!!! Why? where do u people get the idea that margarito would beat him!! Who has he toni beaten? nobody! He's way too slow and pbf would see his punches a mile away!!!!!!!
Any of these boxers would easily beat margarito - judah, baldomir, collazo, spinks, cotto even a faded gatti would still beat him!!!!!!!!!
-
Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s record!"
I dont think anybody at 147 can beat PBF right now. PBF is going to take Baldomir to school and then take him home after the lesson. Oh how I hope Baldomir does put on a good performance and at least scares PBF on a few occasions. Dont think its going to happen but that is why they fight in the ring and not on paper.

You obviously didn't read the entire thread. PBF doesn't HAVE to do shet!! all I'm saying is if your who you & your followers say you are and wan't to be the best at 'Welter' then you have to fight the best at Welter. not Mitchelle.
That night it was suppose to be ZAB-Tony not Baldomir but Zab wanted a EASY build up fight to lead him to a HUGE showdown with PBF we all saw how that plan turned out. ;)
You see I'm not claimig that Tony would destrot PBF or shred him to piece's and neither has he. Your right PBF would see the punches a mile away. So if he wanted a easy fight at Welter. why no Tony? Why Mitchelle?
Anyway all he wants is a shot. Hes a legit Welter and deserved it more then Mitchelle & that tarnished IBF belt that aint worth a shet!!

Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s record!"
I KNOW AND I WISH BALDOMIR BEAT MAYWEATHER, HE's GREEEEEAT FOR BOXING. TRUE FIGHTER.HE FIGHTS COS HE LIKES TO AND FOR PUTTING BREAD ON THE TABLE. HE HAS TAKEN 3 FIGHTS IN LESS THAN A YEAR THAT MAYWEATHER WOULDNT EVA HAVE TAKEN. IM PRETTY SURE ABOUT THAT!!!!! HE TAKES BIG FIGHTS AT THE DROP OF A HAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i understand textbook wise, floyd SHOULD box rings around this guy. but carlos has other qualities that CAN overcome them. he is very strong, big for welter. he wears opponents down with intense pressure. i see this fight going the same way as his fight with judah and gatti.
i dont know why but i got a big feeling that carlos will beat floyd, when i first saw him fight judah and then gatti, i got a strong gut feeling that this guy has a BIGGER chance to beat flyd than most ppl think.
as for margo, he should have a couple of fights against name fighters before he gets a shot at the pretty boy. :)
cant wait. ;)

Re: Mayweather on Margarito "Spot two name fighters on that mother-f*****'s record!"
My dream fight:(in this fight...as in the turn out)
PBF comes out in the first round...  does his usual feel out..  jabs, jabs, hook, jab...  Baldi winds up and catches PBF with a shot that almost severs Floyds head from his shoulders...  One glove goes down and floyd takes a count....
end of round one
2:
Floyde comes out determined...  He never loses his head.  Fights smart....  Outpointing baldi but he is landing the harder shots...  30 seconds left in the round Baldi puts one over the top of PBF's left glove and hits him in the ear...  Knocks his equilibeum off and stumbles him but he retains...  His flurrys dont hurt Baldi but score and as far as punch stats go floyd is ahead @ the end of the round but baldi has worked his way into his head and Floyd becomes tentative as the bell sound and they walk to their respective corners...
3:
Floyd comes out and shows his speed...  Baldi pours on the presure and shows he can stand toe to toe with PBF...  Baldi takes 5 hard shots(for PBF) anf walks through them and plows Floyd ito the corner...  Buries one to the gut and doubles PBF over...  Drops a bomb behind the ear while he is doubled over and knocks him down.  PBF gets up but the fight is waived off.....
Wish this happens ;D :o

Any division, the title Margarito has he got on a vacancy off of a Shane Mosley foe that got destroyed earily. And when he challenged for a title he lost to Santos

I don't know where this "legit" business came from. Last I heard, Margarito didn't get that belt by beating a champion.

Think if he aint shet! and all that you PBF lovers & Tony haters say he aint how is he ranked among the best and #2 (on average) in mostly EVERYBODYS Welter. list?

Well the thing is your 100% correct. and a Cool click is in order ! but that being said unfortunately Tony is simply a high risk factor at this point. the ole risk reward ratio plays in , Margarito is one of those guys that you fight when they become mandatory contenders , not until then . , its hard to turn down equal or more money for fighting a less perceived threat. because in boxing you got to make that money while the pasture is green. The moment your toes start pointing up at the sky, the pastures start getting dry pretty damn quick.

Come on lets keep it real.
I don't know where this "legit" business came from. Last I heard, Margarito didn't get that belt by beating a champion.
He had that belt before. ;)
He lost it cuz HE moved up weight.
Lets just say it was put on lay-away for him. ;D

Yeah, and Baldomir is CHAMPION on EVERYBODY'S Welter list, so what's your point?
Yeah! now he is.
But when PBF decided to say I'm gonna storm through the Welters. and began with Mitchelle (not a Welter) and continued with a loosing Zab. Don't come at me with PBF is the man at 147. Now hes lucky that punk ass Zab wanted like I said before an 'easy lead up fight to PBF' wound up with his foot in his mouth. That night it should have been Tony not Baldomir but he was the lucky one to be there that night, cuz whoever it would have been they would be where Baldomir is right now. Just like Charlie in 'Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory' they would have the golden ticket.
Thats my point. :)

And thats ALL I'm saying. Nothing more nothing less.
People talk about PBF this & that....... He want's to be the KING at 147 'undisputed' champ well theres a dispute. Tony holds a belt in order to be 'undisputed' he would have own WBC, IBF, WBA & WBO.
RJJ undisputed owned....what? 8 belts at one. Thats fwocken undisputed, whos gonna dispute that.
Its simple people quit making it so hard.
