Oscar offers $6million to JT for Winky rematch in December
http://doghouseboxing.com/chee/chee_0823a06.htm
According to a report out by Ron Borges of the Boston Globe, De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions, representing Winky Wright, have made a substantial offer to DiBella Inc of $6 million dollars for a December rematch with the middleweight champion, Jermain Taylor.
At this time Team Taylor is not interested in facing Winky this year again. Taylor's team did however leave the door open for a possible rematch in April 2007.
Further the report by The Boston Globe indicates that Taylor will be back in action on either Nov. 25 or Dec. 2 of this
year in his hometown of Little Rock, Arkansa. The opponent's name being kicked around is against former junior middleweight champion Kassim Ouma.
Source of Information: Ron Borges, Boston Globe
I wouldn't begrudge JT for not taking this fight. He has fought Winky, and B Hop twice and deserves a break. He still has his 0 in tact and in my opinion is the best young star for boxing. Great heart to take those fights(even though I think he lost 2 of them, different matter),fights all comers, threats, doesn't belittle his opponents and ask,how have they fought, just fights them and just a gentleman really. Also Winky did say he did not want a rematch straight after the fight and I'm saying all this but I'm NOT a big JT fan.

Yeah I think Jermain deserves a break. He's been in some razor close fights and needs a lamb to slaughter to celebrate his championship in front of his home town fans.

As long as a rematch ain't to far off I'll be happy! This fight needs to be made!

Re: Oscar offers $6million to JT for Winky rematch in December
highlight of their first fight
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97YA8...elated&search=
well basically taylor landed some thudding shots in the fight, not surprised winky wasnt too keen for a rematch straight after their fight. taylor is a hard fighter to beat.

Re: Oscar offers $6million to JT for Winky rematch in December
YES! This fight NEEDS to happen. It has to. Any other opponent for either fighter just does not make sense.
-
Re: Oscar offers $6million to JT for Winky rematch in December
I would understand if they want it in April though. Because I didn't even expect Taylor to take the first fight, but this fight has to happen sometime real soon.

Disagree, I had Winky up 1 going into the 12th, and Winky didn't do squat in the 12th for me to give him that round. At least Taylor was busy somewhat busy during the 12th.

Re: Oscar offers $6million to JT for Winky rematch in December
I personally have no interest in a rematch. It's just going to be like Taylor-Hopkins 1 and 2. If there was a rematch Wright would simply not do enough and Taylor will win again.
I see it being a very similar fight to the first...of anything I see Taylor improving and winning clearly by a few rounds. A guy like Taylor is always improving, while Wright really has no more room to travel to the top of his potential.
While the first fight was close, keep in mind Winky was the challenger and he was not fighting like it. I know Winky's defense is his best asset and it is incredible, and although it was a very close fight Winky just fought too defensively.
I think Taylor vs. Ouma will be a MUCH more entertaining bout. Ouma is too fresh but he's not gonna stop coming at Taylor and we will get to see Taylor's power cause Ouma's going to be taking some BIG shots. Really now, Taylor's past 3 fights have been against guys that specialize in making their opponents look bad and he still held his own. A rematch with Wright will prove nothing. Like I said, it will prove as much as Hopkins-Taylor II did showed us a similar fight to the first.

Firstly Taylor didn't win the 1st fight it was draw. But your right the fight would be similar. But I see Wright performing better this time & taking a UD. It would prove who the best middleweight in the world is & that's more than enough reason for me.

Re: Oscar offers $6million to JT for Winky rematch in December
*Draw is what I meant. How would Wright perform any better in a rematch? The only thing I can think of is that he would have to become more active and aggressive. Not only is this not his style, it would also leave room for Taylor to connect with his shots. Wright got his head jerked around a lot that first fight from Taylors punches penetrating through his gloves, if Wright opens up those shots are going to connect clean. I wasn't much of a believer in Taylor at first. I was screaming bloody murder after his first fight with Hopkins; and I still think bhop won that fight. But after the second fight bhop did the same thing; which was not do enough. I think Taylor has a lot of talent and there's a reason elite fighters like bhop and Wright can't do enough against him, it's not just luck on Taylor's part.
Also, if a rematch with Wright did take place I strongly believe that Taylor would win convincingly by a few rounds. Emanuel Steward is going to know exactly how to train Taylor for a second fight against Wright. As I said, while Taylor is still improving Wright has already reached the pinnicle of his game and there isnt much room for growth left.

Sweet bro your opinion, but I thought Wright had won & even gave the last round to Taylor.
-
Re: Oscar offers $6million to JT for Winky rematch in December
Taylor will fight him I am 100% sure. Jermain is a man who will take on the best of the best.
Winky is a tought guy but he just looked like a welterweight in there vs Taylor just in size. But props to Wright he fights tough and has a style that's extremely hard to deal with
-
Re: Oscar offers $6million to JT for Winky rematch in December
IWHO Taylor lost the first Hopkins fight, won the second, & lost the fight against Wright.
The thing is he came out smelling like a rose...& we all know what most roses grow & thrive from...you guess it...the very thing that was synonymous with the Wright decision: BULLSHIT!

I think Talyor id doing great as well, I also thought he lost the 1st Hopkins fight but won the 2nd. I feel he lost to Wright though. I don't think Stewart will make to many improvements Taylors balance was still crap in the fight with Wright & his hands were still kept low, plus he looks like he's gonna fall over when throwing a straight right! But Taylor is still the undefeated world middleweight champion so I gotta give him hi props. I just feel Wrights defense will be spot on as usual, plus if he gets that jab working he can win the fight around that!

Re: Oscar offers $6million to JT for Winky rematch in December
It's not Jermain's fault...he didn't judge the fight
Why all the hate? Taylor is a good fighter, a tough guy, and he takes on big challenges

Why all the hate? Oh puh-leeze Lyle. You know I like Taylor, he just didn't win the fight...it's not just the judges...it's the whole deal.
Wright beat him...but anyone in their right mind knows that the honey pot aint gonna go empty unless it get's broken...HBO won't allow it.
It's not hate...but if you (not YOU personally) can't watch a fight & read outside of the lines...you never get the whole picture. He hasn't been an effective champ at 160lbs. I love the kid...I got high hopes for him...but he's not breaking any approval records with me anymore.
He lost against Hopkins once...the second time he won...but he didn't earn that draw against Wright.

yeah, but I think he could find a better lamb than Ouma though...that could be a decent fight...

I always say there should be an instant rematch as soon as a draw is announced. They need a clear cut winner.

you are correct in that statement....but Taylor is not judging the fight. Winky deserves his due. Winky has fought and built himself up way to high to have this hanging over him.

CC galaxy. I've noticed Taylor's balance issues as well. He also keeps that right hand real tight at his side..I don't know what that's all about. It looks like he's keeping it flexed or something.
I think if taylor straighten's out his balance and timing and fights like he did the first fight against Wright it will work wonders. I noticed Taylor showed a pretty mean looking lead left hook a couple times, but always seemed just off with it.
I still think he still has some confidence issues, but I think a KO will clear that up for him as well.

The longer Taylor has with Manny the better he'll be and the harder it will be for ANYONE to beat him

that's why he is putting off the fight with winky IMO. He will have trained with Manny for well over a year by that time.
-
Re: Oscar offers $6million to JT for Winky rematch in December
Well true...but Ouma is going to give him a shot at adapting to the style Manny wants him to fight with which I am sure is more like how Tommy Hearns fought

I'm all for the rematch...but I think that he should fight a B or C level fighter in December.
I think Ouma's gonna be a harder fight than he's getting credit for too.

TAKE IT JERMAINE! doesnt have to be his next fight but it needs to happen and if JT manages to win this one convincingly then he will have me as a big fan!
