Shannon Briggs just made the biggest mistake of his career!!!
He abandoned trying to get the WK fight and instead signed with Don King, he is set to fight Sergei Lyakovich now. That wasn't the mistake ,signing with King was.

Don King is a snake, that is for damn sure. But why did he puss outta the Wlad Klit fight? He had a real shot at winnin, Wlad's chin is as bad or worse than his own.

I'm not so sure that he pussed out of the Klitschko fight, i mean it's been on the cards for a couple of months now, and in two months the bloody promoters still can't hammer out a deal? Shit, if that's the case then it probably wasn't going to happen. All parties thinking they should get a higher percentage of the dough yadda yadda yadda.

Cool Click. That makes sense and I hope you are right. The mere thought of someone Briggs or any top HW being scared of Wladimir Klitschko makes me wanna puke. Briggs has been fightin some bums that is for sure. Lyakovich has a hard ass head and takes a great shot. Briggs will have to go to the body or like you so catch him cold, getting full extension on his straight right hand to KO him. He better stop him too, cus at 270 I don't see Briggs goin the full 12 and winnin.

As much as I hate don atleast he can get briggs a fight. so maybe it wasnt so dumb of briggs to sign with him. its not like he has much time left anyway.

I'm tired of all the HW champs trying to find any other to keep the title than fighting the other champs. I refuse to watch another HW champ until it is for a unification of some sort.

Lyachovich is a much easier fight than Klitschko for Briggs...& if when he wins...Briggs...it's a much closer step to unification for Klit if Briggs steps up to the plate to bat again.
Personally...I think Briggs KO's Lyachovich...because in the end...that kid aint got shit.

He definately is the best of this crappy bunch. They need to start unifying the division to gain some credability. As long as the champions keep avoiding each other non of them are going to be remembered for much.

Wlad is a joke, really he is. A big one at that too. ;D Lyakovich certainly has a much better chin than Wlad, and greater stamina. So how is he shat? Cus he outgutted and beat a guy who outgutted and beat Wladimir? That makes a lot of sense. People honestly Wlad is nothin to get excited about. I love how Klit fans flip flop between which ever brother is doing good at the time. First it was all about Wlad then after his KO loss to Sanders, and Vitali's above average showing against an outta shape Lennox Lewis, it was all about the mighty Vitali! Then Vitali makes a whopping ONE title defense against a fat slob, and it takes him way too long to KO the slob, and then postpones the Rahman fight 3 times and retires. Wlad then gets a good win over Peter after two sub par fights and then he's God again. Now he's beaten a guy he already thrashed, Byrd, and won a alphabet title, and suddenly hes an unbeatable Powerhouse. I don't buy it. I think Lyakovich will be a tougher fight for Briggs really, he's an all round more solid guy than Wlad, just doesn't punch as hard. The division is pretty much DOOMED IMO, and Wlad sure as hell is not the savior.

I think Sergei goes the distance with Shannon and his saving grace is that Shannon gets tired...this fight will be closer than expected.

Honestly, I never really liked Wlad. Always liked Vitali. Wlad was good...but something about Vitali & his power always hooked me more than Wlad's abilities.
Now...you really have no choice which one to side with...there's only one on the board.

Yup....that is the critical thing for Briggs. If he can get up to 12 round stamina (or even 8 or 9 rounds) it will put him in a fairly good position to compete with Liakovich, and with Briggs' power advantage, it will be up to Sergei to outwork him, and really test that chin of his.

The way Briggs needs to pace himself is to wait Sergei out in the begining...give up a couple rounds that's fine and dandy but COUNTER PUNCH and when you counter you do it with combinations then clinch push Sergei to the ropes tiring him out and putting him in the position where he could become trapped.

I believe that IF Briggs could get up to 12 round stamina then he would the or one of the best heavy weights out there. Good hand speed, good power, and enough chin for todays heavy weights.
