Yes! I'm dissapointed in the number of boxers who don't slip and weave as much as they should! Mike Tyson was famous for this.
i love praticing to weave its the best
no doubt its sweet! i love getting into somewhat of jabbing contests during sparring just slipping and hittin back with jabs straits and left hooks but in all practicallity not everyone has such great reflexes or are all to agile to bob and weave all to much, i find it alot safer just to slip seldomly and keep my guard up and keep alert for parry's.Quote:

Yes, and all weaving is done by boxers (it's an axiom)
The Bayeux tapestry in Normandy was woven by Jim Cribb, the famous Bristolian bareknuckle fighter.
;D
X, your humour is about as predictable as Jimmy Carr and as funny as Jim Davidson :P
Where would we be in life if everything was serious and po-faced all the time ..... oh, in Tony's Britain!!
:-\
I bet naz wishes he could weave better when hes behind the wheel of a car
lol ive never heard of naz ever in my life and i downloaded a movie and it was funny cuz it was one of his fights he looked like he sucked.. but he was pretty good i guess but his hands are to low all the time
He can bob his head behind the wheel, but thats about it :PQuote:

Not all boxers weave. Some prefer to cross stitch.
(couldn't resist) ;D
I've seen fights where Mike Tyson would weave all the way, with his legs at a 20 degree angle. It was like he was doing a full squat. It was so low that the opponent couldn't even uppercut. I was a little shocked, but it worked. Think about it, if your that low, what can they possibly do to you beside using a hammer fist on your head (which does very little).
My opinion is this: Utilize all boxing techniques. There aren't that many, as compared to MMA, so you need to be well rounded and unpredictable.
??? :-[ ok, I give up.... I was hoping to find out what weaving means by following this topic, and I have the suspicion that it has something to do with moving (around), but i can't seem to figure it out...
What is weaving??? If it is moving, how?
Thanks for the respons :-*
Bobbing and weaving properly and effectively for a sustained period of time requires super conditioning, It takes a tremendous amount of strength and energy to execute effective over any period of time . That why more fighters try and parry punches and step to the side rather then bend at the knee and weave to avoid punches, what happens if you not primo condition is you get caught in a stall because your not executing it fast enough and thus the canvas awaits ! ;)
So if i understand correctly, weaving is bending your torso (incl head ;) ) to the left, right of backwards without stepping/moving to avoid the punches? Like diving underneath a hook trown at you, but then sideways?Quote:

Ok So Not Everyone Bobs And Weave But If You Dont You Should!!!!!
;D
So Start Practicing
Right On Lion King ;DQuote:

Not always, do you think you are going to see Valvuav Rolling under shots Tyson style? :P
I hear what you are saying though, you should be able to. ;)
;D Not Likely O0
What you see a lot is fighters even some experienced ones , like Jeremy Williams for example . half assing it, by bending at the waist, in stead of bending at the knee , when you bend at the waist your taking your eyes off your opponent momentarily , remember it’s the punch you don’t see that canvases a fighter 9 time outta 10 , that why technique must be mastered , half ass boxing will get ya knockedout !
Notice in this example how Williams bends at the waist to avoid Peters right hook only to pop up and catch the left hook in full swing, he never saw the shot. Williams should have bent at the knee to avoid that right hook , so he could maintain eye contact, ! Jeremy was out for a good 5 min as result of this mistake, an amateur mistake made by a season pro. It just take one mistake guys ! so don't make too many ! ;)

Something to point out and, hopefully, to be noted: bobbing and weaving is not a haphazard hit or miss endeavor. Rather it is something done deliberately and knowingly, with a definite purpose (ie, a specific punch) in mind. For example, the famous Dempsey Triples.
The first began by slipping inside an opponent's left jab and landing a straight right to the heart, then shifting the weight to the right leg (while stepping right and slightly forward with the right foot) to "bob" back under the left (while Dempsey hooked his left to the foe's body), thereby "weaving" to the outside position, shifting the weight to the right foot and throwing a right hook to the jaw.
The second was based off a slip to the outside of an opponent's left lead, dropping the weight to the rt foot and and hooking the left to the body, then stepping to the left with the left foot shifting weight to the left leg and , while "bobbing" back under his foe's left (and hooking the right to the heart), Dempsey would "weave" to the inside position and throw a left hook to the chin.
Point I'm trying to make is that you don't just "bob and weave". It is a series of planned motions for a specific purpose- avoiding his lead by slipping or ducking, then bobbing back under it and weaving your way to a more favorable position from which to land a punch. It is not something you do at random hoping he'll miss you and there is no point in being so low as to be unable to punch, no more than it makes sense to have your feet parallel or shoulders square while doing the "bob and weave". Also when weaving to the inside it often makes sense, depending on your plan (once you get there) to place a left glove over his right glove. So he can't hit you.
Yeah great video mate.Points out alot of things.Quote:

Just shows you that if you are going to do that type of stuff and duck low bodily to avoid stuff, you have to come up guarded with a stiff arm out in the way covering your line before you move into it for protection and as a feeler to where things are now at; or have legs supple enough to be able to shuffle out of range or behind the attacker before you come up, while your still low, instead of blind and still in range.
Glad you enjoyed the clip . I am a believer in watching fight film. I think it is a very important part of the training process. If you can learn from other peoples mistakes all the better, hopefully that’s one less mistake you make. I like to watch fights and see why things happen, understand what leads up to a certain outcome, what a fighter did right , and what a fighter did wrong to ultimately decide his or her fate.Quote:

Dude Lords Gym I Really Hate This I Wish I Had A Trainer Cuz With me Being My Own Trainer I Can Just Sluff Of And Stuff I Mean I Dont Want To BUt I Think About It I Train And I Train Hard But What In The Heck Am I Training For I Cant Compete In Any Competitions And Cant Really Spar With Anyone So What Is The Point Of Me Training Besides The Fact That i Love Boxing But Seriously I Just Need A Freeken Trainer I Want To Be A Great Boxer But Can Never Make It Without A Trainer And A Trainer Isnt Going To Be Easy To Get :-\
BUt Thanks For You Help
Well what are you goals bro? . Dude all I can tell you is work on the things we talked about, polish up a bit, make some vid's email your clips to trainers and so on, I see if I can hook you up with the right folks , get them to sponsor you, and move out of the sticks to boxing camp. ! your going to have to go to them they aren’t coming to you. you know what I mean, its an option. if your serious you will find away, we got fighters that don't speak a lick of English that just show up on the step and want to box. they find away. the Ruelus brothers, camped out on the steps at Goosens joint without a dollar to their name , they both became world champions . . my point is that excuses are just excuses, I am not saying its easy, but it can be done, you got to look deep inside and decide what sacrifices you want to make? I personally think you got some natural talent, and could do some good when schooled properly.
I wish you the best in your endeavors !

Dude I Would Love To Be exausted After A Workout Maybe When I Get The Trainer He Will Make Me Work Harder
