Taylor vs Trinidad......What do you think??
I know Tito's 2 losses are to the men that Jermain Taylor went 2-0-1 with so you would think Taylor would breeze through him(Hopkins, Wright) but we know, that logic dosent really pan out since styles make fights...With that being said I think Tito's offensive style would give Taylor all kinds of trouble since Tito likes to stand in front press and bang away...I just see him pressing Taylor and giving him all kinds of problems...Were talking about 2 guys that dont make defense there 1st priority but Taylor has yet to get his chin tested by a strong puncher
If this fight was to take place in 6 mo's I will go out on a limb and say we would have a new Middleweight champion

and I would have to go out on a limb(not really) and say JT pounds his a** back into retirement....:)

it would be a world class ass beating for tito at present time
prime tito still loses pretty bad, but he might last 10 rounds

Re: Taylor vs Trinidad......What do you think??
It'd be another big name on Taylors record. A prime Tito would have had trouble beating Taylor.
-
Re: Taylor vs Trinidad......What do you think??
Tito would get his ass kicked.

Re: Taylor vs Trinidad......What do you think??
It wuld be a painful night for Tito , especially now .As someone else said , hed struggle against Taylor even in his prime . Bad intentions was an improving fighter when he was up against the top 2 p4p fighters Winky and Nard yet he still emerged as champ . Thinsg are only guna get better for him as the comp gets lower and these close decisions hes been having are shortly guna start being replaced with blowouts and sensational wins as he slowly establishes himself as the dominant middleweight . Tito would be a good starting point .

I aint a tito hater . Far from it . I thought he was da man at welterweight . He won me money against Oscar and id say he p4p number 1 round about the time he fought Vargas . However im being a realist here. JT is approaching his prime . Tito is 2 divisons above his natural weight and a good few years past his best .
The inactivity will have done him no good and I feel we have to lok no further past their common opponents to see how the fight would go . I know this isnt the formline on how to judge fights but compare their respective fights againt Winky. Then look at how Tito handled Hopkins and how Taylor handled Hopkins .
Id probably be cheering Tito on if teh fight did happen but bad intentions would have too much IMO at this stage

Re: Taylor vs Trinidad......What do you think??
Jermain Taylor is a boxer who might not have as great of a defense as Hopkins & Wright have...but he does have a workable defense & he's getting faster on his feet too.
Trinidad stands straight in front of you & throws bombs. Sure he'll get some points for his jab...but it's almost non-existent against the likes of Wright & Hopkins & it'd be nullified against Taylor.
Tito's done what he's gonna do people. The past is the past. Even though these oldies/inactives/but goodies come back...their repeats are generally lack lustre.
Taylor by TKO in the late rounds.
Tito is custom made for Taylor & a booster for his record.

Re: Taylor vs Trinidad......What do you think??
I have to agree with Game Taylor is much bigger and Taylor would be able to handle Tito, I say he wins late TKO. I think if Tito were to come back he should do it at 147, or 154, I think he would do pretty good in those weight classes.

Re: Taylor vs Trinidad......What do you think??
first of all, whats the sudden interest in Trinidad again??? lol
nah but most of the people that are saying that Tito would get his ass handed to him are just saying that and with no arguement to back it up, i mean i'm not saying that he'd beat Taylor, but i know that Taylor is overrated, he's good but he's not as good as we all thought he was going to be, despite his 2-0-1 in his last fights, IMO i have him 0-2-1 and you can even argue the fact that it could be 0-3-0, he has not looked really impressive at all in his last outings, his chin isn't granite, it's slightly suspect to tell the truth, everyone knows that Wright doesn't have much power, he landed his biggest punches on Mosley and Sugar never even really was wobbled, Hopkins 11th & 12th round dominance of him in their first fight wasn't just cause Taylor was tired, and even if it was Tito can lure Taylor to bang with him, and to me that's where Taylor's night will go horribly wrong, if Tito trains as hard as he did for Mayorga (and believe me he trained damn hard, trained for a good 5 months before the fight happened), he could very well pull an upset, and with the level of competition at 160 Trinidad can very well be a force once again, if you look at the division closely it's not as lively as you may be drawn to think, most of the actual boxer's in the division have good balanced skills yet not very much power, and then the bangers mainly have a Mayorga eske style, i think that Trinidad isn't as finished as many think, he has no real reason to come back, his place in history is already set, and he is a legend in his own right, but he could come back and very well retire as a dominant champion at 160, especially now that there is talk that Wright might be going back down to 160, in conclusion i think that if Taylor doesn't try to box, his overrated power won't be able to keep Trinidad off him for the full 12 rounds, and don't really see him hurting Tito that bad without getting tagged with a HUGE left hook, which i think Jermain won't be able to take very well, so yea my opinion is that it's a pretty even fight

Re: Taylor vs Trinidad......What do you think??
i believe taylor wins this one
-
Re: Taylor vs Trinidad......What do you think??
I think JT wins this one b/c of his athleticism..that bing said JT gets hit too often, and it would only take one good combo from Tito to end it
-
Re: Taylor vs Trinidad......What do you think??
Taylor has NEVER been in the ring with or even pressed for that matter by a Bona Fide power puncher and is untested in that regard, if Tito was on his azz 3min a round walking him down feeding Taylor left hooks Tito will chop Taylor down...We havent seen how Taylor reacts after getting his clocked clean to see how he responds..
-
Re: Taylor vs Trinidad......What do you think??
JT bro,I think JT was hurt by B Hop late in their fight! I'm sure he was,I'll watxh it again just to make sure. As for the thread,I think JT is too big for Tito although Tito may land the odd bomb,I think the size will tell!

Thats true . Taylor isnt as masterful as Winky and Bernard defensivley so I suppose its a case of if Tito can land his punches . He did have to sih out a fair few to get rid of Mayorga and he was a blown up light middle . Tito also had to take a count in that fight and Taylor is far from a washed up welter . He is big for middle and I dont Tito has ever met a guy with his power before either .
To win Tito would have to try to cut off the ring , dont waste punches and force Taylor back with power shots . Whats good about Jermain though is he never allows himself to be dominated . He wont take unanswered punches as he always throws back flurries instantly . His jab thrown from a crab like defence would keep Tito at range and set him up for the right hand and lets not forget Tito was down regulary at welterweight .
As for Jermain being hurt by Nard , Yes he was . In both fights . His stamina went late on and he was on wobbly legs . He also almost scored a knockdown in teh 1st fight and if teh ropes werent there to keep B-hop up , he would have got a 10-8 round . We can probably gather from this that if Nard troubled him then Titos power would also but theres no guarentee that Tito can last til the late part of the fight

im pretty sure that b-hop hits harder at 160 than trinidad did, and b-hop caught jermain with a few solid shots.
not to take anything away from tito (hes an all time great in my book) but he sacraficed a LOT of power by going up to middle.
its too bad he made that jump cause imo he would probably still be undefeated king at 154 (assuming there was no rematch with oscar ;))
-
Re: Taylor vs Trinidad......What do you think??
actually i wouldn't say that Hopkins was a HARDER puncher, i'd say he was a SMARTER puncher, just use all 3 (Trinidad, Hopkins, and Taylor's) fights with Joppy as a reference, Trinidad clearly did the most damage, i think at 160 he could beat
Sturm
Catillejo
Miranda
Abraham
Eastman
Soliman
and possibly Taylor
if not him and DLH could easily rule the 154 division again, just like they did the welterweight division

I get what your saying bro,
Hurting a fighter is one thing capitilizing is another, the last few years Nard was ultra conservative even when having someone hurt he wasnt gonna take a chance of opening up and getting caught...
When Tito catches Taylor and hurts him you better believe he is jumping in with both feet and will try to finish the Job with reckless abandon.Thats the kind of agression that will rattle Taylor and I feel gives Tito tha advantage
-
Re: Taylor vs Trinidad......What do you think??
yea Taylor doesn't really react too well to getting tagged, just watch how he would get when Wright had him on the ropes, and that's that Wright has really no power
-
Re: Taylor vs Trinidad......What do you think??
trinidad doesnt belong in the middleweight division.....his power doesnt help him against bigger guys who are more agile then he is....
-
Re: Taylor vs Trinidad......What do you think??
no one at middle is really all that agile not even Taylor, he usually just skips his way into punches so yea... don't get what you're saying, his power is better than pretty much all the middleweights right now
