Debate: MAYWEATHER or PACQUIAO NO.1?
LOOKING AT PACQUIAO & MAYWEATHER AS CARS
Los Angeles, CA-In some sects, especially with Latinos and Blacks, they don’t have hot rods. Quite the contrary as the “low rider” is more of a show car that is cruised at low speeds. While in a race I obviously want the supped up roadster instead of the slow crawler. In the world of professional boxing, Floyd “Pretty Boy” Mayweather is the low rider, while the octane king is none other than Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao.
THE LOW RIDER VS. THE INDY 500 CAR
Mayweather looks good, sounds good, rides smooth, and is thus far is unscratched. On the other hand, Manny Pacquiao is the car that that has came in second on a number of occasions at the track. Manny has beaten Indianapolis 500 type fighters, while Floyd has for the most part outpaced pace cars. The big difference between Pacquiao and Mayweather is their class/level of opposition. Based on that alone, there’s no comparing the two!
CAN YOU HONESTLY COMPARE THE FOLLOWING?
Looking at the last ten fights of both men, we have Floyd facing Zab Judah, Sharmba Mitchell, DeMarcus Corley, Arturo Gatti, Phillip N’Dou, Henry Bruseles, Victoriano Sosa, Jesus Chavez, and Jose Luis Castillo twice. OK, compare “Pretty Boy Floyd’s” murderers row with the last dime to face Manny Pacquiao. Fahprakorb Rakkiatgym, Serikzhan Yeshmagambetov, Emanuel Lucero, Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Marquez, 3-K Battery, Hector Velazquez, Erik Morales, Erik Morales, and Oscar Larios.
IT’S NOT ABOUT LOOKS, MORE LIKE WHO YOU BEAT!
What you notice is that while they’ve both faced world-class fighters, Floyd, with the exception of Castillo, and he was lucky to win the first time, hasn’t fought guys while they were at, or even near the top of their game. Zab was coming off a decisive loss, Sharmba was leftover lunchmeat when they met, Gatti was toasted prior, and the other men Floyd has engaged, they’re not even worth mentioning again. Pacquiao’s knockout wins over Hall of Fame “cinches” Barrera and Morales, and his draw with Marquez, these are significant outings befitting a fighter dubbed, the “best pound for pound” in the world.
BOTH PACQUIAO & MAYWEATHER ARE FAVORED
Floyd will fight the World welterweight champion, and there’s only one, Carlos Baldomir of Argentina on November 4. Manny will chew on what is left of Erik Morales after they do everything but shrink his head to get him down to 130 lbs. Who knows, Floyd Mayweather may go on and retire undefeated, or he might crash and burn. The same can be said of the Pacman. Regardless, when judging the opposition Floyd doesn’t come close to the fiery Filipino if you’re talking “p4p” today, September 1, 2006.

Re: Debate: MAYWEATHER or PACQUIAO NO.1?
those are my sentiments exactly.. Floyd looks the goods but simply hasn't proven it above light weight even Wright, Para, Hopkins and Taylor should be above him as it stands today. But in saying that if Mayweather wins the Welterweight Championship from Baldomir I will finally concede his claim to the spot ;)

Re: Debate: MAYWEATHER or PACQUIAO NO.1?

He has looked good or great because he hasnt fought anybody that could really test him. Where as Pacman has fought people that could beat him hence his losses. You can argue either way with Floyd on whether his opponents really were not that good or that he just made them look that way. IMO its a little bit of both but more of quality of his opponents.
IMO Pacman is number 1 with Winky #2 and PBF #3. Winky and Pacman have losses but its because of their competition not their lack of skills.

Totally agree. It should be PACMAN as #1. You should see all his fights. His losses were because of technical problems. Compare his fights where he was at his best condition (where there were no problems eg. weight, gloves, etc. )and you would agree that he is really a terrific fighter and deserves to be #1.

Re: Debate: MAYWEATHER or PACQUIAO NO.1?
im a fan of pacman and im fan of mayweather and i think mayweather is p4p king at the moment
-
Re: Debate: MAYWEATHER or PACQUIAO NO.1?
First off I have floyd at #1 but it really depends how you look at pound for pound. If it about who you've fought and beat lately then you gotta go with pac but if it about who's the most skillfull then you gotta go with floyd.
I for one can't put pac over floyd for one reason and that is cause pac now fights at floyds old weight and imo floyd dominates pac, mab, morales and jmm at 130. So is pac really beating people that floyd couldn't beat. I mean if floyd was still at 130 none of those guys would of dared to even move up

Re: Debate: MAYWEATHER or PACQUIAO NO.1?
While Pac has grown on me over the years & has beaten two top P4P fighters...he's still a step back behind when it comes to the number one slot.
Mayweather still takes it, IWO. No matter how many people try to take the wind out of it...a win over Baldo is pretty impressive considering that he's running undefeated longer than both Wright & Pacquiao.
I do feel that if Pac blasts Morales out of the ring that he should move up a spot...& Wright down a spot...even if Wright beats Ike.
That's a tuff call for me to make...but I can't sit here & pick favorites alla the time...if you get me.
Accomplishments are accomplishments...& IWO...beating Morales is more than beating Quartey.

Well if PBF cleans Baldo's clock then you'll get no more arguement from me Wack in my eyes that earns him the spot. ;)

The thing is...that bwoy's got a pretty thick skull & Floyd's got some pretty brittle hands...so if Floyd goes 12 with him...will everyone rip him like they did Calzaghe after he fought Bika?

Depends on how he looks, if he looks good going 12, no. I assume he will look good and it will go 12.

I assumed it was a given that PBF would go the 12 a win by decision. I expect Baldomir to make it as tough as he can, but I will be surprised if PBF loses more 4 or more rounds. But it will all depend on how Floyd looks.

Re: Debate: MAYWEATHER or PACQUIAO NO.1?
After Pacman beat Morales with his awesome speed and strength, my vote is on Pacman. Isnt it Pac also beat the hell out of those 3 boxers who beat him on rematches?

Re: Debate: MAYWEATHER or PACQUIAO NO.1?
PBF without a doubt!...1st.Pacman lunges with his punches...he is often off balance....he bounces as oppose to sliding and stepping! What holes can you spot in PBF's game?As for Winky he can box and has good defense BUT he throws pitty pat punches and he stands flat footed at times...
Speed-PBF-Pac tie
Ring Awareness-PBF
combinations-PBF
Defense-PBF-Winky tie
Stamina-PBF
expirience-PBF-he was BORN into the sport
Power-maybe Pac...?

Re: Debate: MAYWEATHER or PACQUIAO NO.1?
After knocking out taller and bigger Jorge Solis this year, I think Pac is leading the p4p race.
If PBF wins convincingly afainst ODLH, then PBF and Pac will tie in first place.

sorry man but that list of yours doesn't mean squat! ;) pound for pound means if they were at any given weight would they beat the rest of the division.
In the 1988 Mike Tyson wasn't the fastest, didn't have the best ring awareness, didn't have the best combinations or defense, wasn't the fittest and didn't have the most experience but you could have put Iron Mike in any division and he would have cleaned house.
Floyd looks the part and I belive he has done enough to earn the spot but only because he is a multi division champion, not because he looks pretty against lesser opponents.

Floyd has looked good against just about All of his opponents....its only after he beats them that they become "bums".
Corley,Corrales,JLC,Hernandez,Baldo....all IMO were good fighters.Floyd would beat Pac plain and simple.Pac has a loss in his prime...Floyd doesnt.

Pac gets his 1st title the WBC Flyweight, skips 2 divisions to pick up the IBF/WBO Super Bantamweight titles, moves up another divsion and picks up the IBF/WBA Featherweight titles bla bla bla...
THEN... FOUR & FIVE DIVISIONS higher than his 1st title weight faces Marco Barrera, Juan Marquez, and Eric Morales.
Compared to these 3 all Floyd's Welterweight opponents are bums! ;)

Re: Debate: MAYWEATHER or PACQUIAO NO.1?
Fraud Gayweather is overrated, overranked, overhyped, and untested.
He's been ducking Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley, Antonio Margorito, and even his fellow overrated fighter.. Hatton.
Pac meanwhile has been fighting best of the best. He dropped his taller/bigger opponent lately.
I'm not hatin' y'all. Just stating the truth and being objective.

Re: Debate: MAYWEATHER or PACQUIAO NO.1?
Mayweather is easily P4P number 1 after his win over Oscar. Pac is at2-4 imo as Rafa Marquez and B Hop hav been doing more.
-
Re: Debate: MAYWEATHER or PACQUIAO NO.1?
i got bhop #1 again, forget pac floyd and winky BHOP IS THE TRUTH 42 AND GOING STRONGER!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Re: Debate: MAYWEATHER or PACQUIAO NO.1?
B-Hop cannot be #1. He has to prove more. Defeating Winky means little.winky is not the P4P best.
