Does anyone ever mean the washed up bum Ali? Does anyone ever mean the Meineke Muffler hypin' George Foreman or the fumblin' for his mouthpiece Mike Tyson?
If someone says "in their prime" one more time I'll go nuckin :puke:' futs!

If you look at the 'Prime Lewis v Prime Tyson' thread, everybodies arguments about Tyson are based on him after he came out of prsion, i.e not prime ;D
Agreed.
The problem is that many people on this forum are of different ages and only remember (first hand anyway) different elements of a fighters career.
Somoen who is under, say, 18 will not remember the animal that Mike Tyson really was and the fear he generated around the worls at the time. Me personally, if I had not seen videos etc, may think of the great Muhammed Ali as a boring clincher who stole decisions he should not have got.
I suppose pople have to rpeface their comments with 'prime' because of ten the prime period for a fighter is so short as well?
On the downside, however, when was Archie Moore's prime, or Sonny Liston for example

It's all a misprint - people actually mean in their "Primo" as the greatest heavyweight who ever lived is used as an example of a man at his peak.
;D
Ah i'm sure you would of wanted to see that music thread that we had a while back.
I think I mentioned Stone Temple Pilots or something Scott Weiland related and Lyle immediately came back at me with 'What has Scott done? He's never had a solo career! He's done nothing and will never be nothing! Unlike a prime Elvis!'
Swear to god it was the funniest shit I've ever read. Wish I could find it somewhere on here :(
Yup I guess in 30 years time we will be referring to fighters at their peak as being 'in their Valeuv' :-XQuote:

Well of course all the people who say Tyson would beat Rocky Marciano and Jack Dempsey SHOULD sayQuote:

And don't even back away from that because those are the reasons Tyson would beat Rocky and Dempsey...uh oh I just done opened a can of worms
Nah he would've beaten him because, contrary to what you believe he had so many more tools than both those fightersQuote:

Apparently they do if they say that all you needed to do to beat Tyson was stand up to him and that he needed to intimidate you to beat you.Quote:

It was the fact that he was an awesome fighter- I agree that from Douglas onwards he was just a good heavyweight, but before that, no matter how short the period was , he was great
Nice to get this one started again ;D
I am with you mate I cannot stand this in your prime crap if you get beat you get beat no excuse lol...I agree if i was a boxer and lost a fight I would not go around sayin oh I was not in my prime...It is up to you and your judgement to know if you are in a good condition to perform...Quote:

Well Tate was addicted to CRACK...Douglas beat Tyson, his goal in the division was accomplished, he took the Holyfield fight to make money. Mercer got Hepititus C and he fought guys like Holyfield and Lennox Lewis during his prime....where were the big boys in Tyson's prime???Quote:
