Joe Louis vs. Joe Frazier
Who wins between two of the most feared punchers in boxing history?
Re: Joe Louis vs. Joe Frazier
Re: Joe Louis vs. Joe Frazier
Louis busts Frazier up, catching him coming in and timing those devastating short puches to perfection. Frazier scores a flash knockdown in the third, but it is one way traffic with only Frazier's courage keeping the fight going. By the sixth, Frazier's face is a misshapen distorted mess.
The ref steps in during the seventh to save Frazier from more punishment.
Re: Joe Louis vs. Joe Frazier
Louis was a MUCH better BOXER then Frazier and because of this he would be able to stop Joe late IMO.

Louis, he's a better boxer and I think he takes the decision

Actually I doubt these two make even the top 10 most feared heavyweight punchers in boxing history.
Foreman, Tyson, Liston, Lewis, Dempsey, Marciano, Jack Johnson, even Sam Peter probably punched harder than these two.
Re: Joe Louis vs. Joe Frazier
Frazier would knock out Louis no question as open as Louis is? He is made to order for Joe.
Re: Joe Louis vs. Joe Frazier
Yeah which is why Joe got KO'd all the time :beat:

I didn't say hardest punchers in history, I said most feared punchers, big difference.
p.s. --Dempsey and Marciano ain't hittin' harder than Frazier.

Either way, Joe would win. Back in Joe's day a Heavyweight's idea of defense was seeing who would fall down first. Joe what little defense he had could duck and slip, and he would reach Joe, I also think he would be the bigger man
Re: Joe Louis vs. Joe Frazier
frazier beat ali....he could def beat louis---a prime frazier would b 2 much for louis --frazier ko10

Ok but even so I wouldn't say either was anywhere near the most feared. Tyson, Liston and Foreman were all far more feared than these two, so was Dempsey and Marciano.
Frazier was overratted imo, he did well against Ali becuase Ali didn't have the KO power to finish him but Foreman absolutely battered him twice. And he was almost knocked out by Ocscar Bonavena.
Louis struggled with a 175 lb Billy Conn. He was overratted too, any of the great champions could have reigned for 8 years if they fought a bum a month like Louis.

Dude, relax, I said they are two of the most feared, meaning they are among the most feared, I didn't say they were THE TWO MOST FEARED.

Sonny Liston should be on the list. He was feared too and I think Tyson was more feared then Louis. Frazier didnt have that aura of invincibility that Louis, Liston, Tyson and Foreman did

Don't you just hate it when you try and start an interesting 'what if' type discussion and some petty little pedantic fool goes through your every word with a fine toothed comb nitpicking on every sentence?
I hate those kind of people personally :P

Re: Joe Louis vs. Joe Frazier
I say Louis bust Frazier up for most of the fight...But With Fraziers come foward style IMO Louis would eventualy run out of gas and get caught...Thats if it wasn't stopped on cuts or something first....No short night for either

Ummm no Joe Louis could crack and so could Joe Frazier.
Sam Peter doesn't hit hard he just hits people in the back of the head
Louis had a HUGE right hand and a great left hook....and he never punched out of position.
Frazier was all left hook and it was quick and powerful
...Sam Peter has NOTHING in his arsenal like those punches.
Re: Joe Louis vs. Joe Frazier
My video shows exactly how Joe and his era fought. In that video, does that version of Joe look like he or anybody else would land anything on foreman or people he fought?
Look up foreman louis advanced on youtube
he and guys from his time look like novices compared side by side to no names Foreman fought, and in no way does anyone from that era look like they would last 1 round vs. guys in the 70s-'90s so why did clearly not sane people say louis wins?
