ner man that fight is one of the best!!
because oscar was extremely impressive and it was controversial!!
i dont think i could imagine it any other way!, i wouldnt have wanted it any other way! because at the time and still now im a huge tito fan and a big oscar fan... so at the time i was glad tito was still undefeated but i know that csar had no shame in it becuase it was an awesome boxing lesson for about 6 or seven rounds!!
also harrison-williams was a disgrace...
williams and skelon are no hopers and wont cut it for world title match status!!
in a way hopkins taylor was a bit disapointing because they were so close and bernard didnt take over the fight like a know he could have and should have... the only thing to make up for that now is that i really hope jermaine makes a real go of his career and becomes big so it doesnt look as bad on bhop :P
cant really think of any others...though i know theres lots more!

Who said that??? Whoever it is should go to the hospital immediately because they need to be checked out for a number of things: Glaucoma...some sort of psychiatric ailment like Bipolar, Szchiophrenia.....I don't know but whoever said it doesn't know who Audley and Danny are!!!
Molsey-Vargas II
Tyson-Holyfield I & II
Tyson-Lewis
Miranda-Abraham better live up to the hype or else someone is gonna get smurfed up real smurfin bad!

Re: FIGHTS THAT DIDNT LIVE UP TO THE HYPE ??
Lewis -Tua maybe wasnt over hyped but man that fight sucked ..lewis was a bird pecking at a slug remember after the fight "if tyson wants to test i put him to rest"i'm like fine wine i get better with age" <--and everyone was like "man i cant wait to see Tyson fight Lewis ..tysons gonna kill him" <--how wrong we were

Re: FIGHTS THAT DIDNT LIVE UP TO THE HYPE ??
Taylor-Hopkins II (everyone expected more action, but it was just as boring as the first one)
Jones-Tarver III (worst fight I've ever spent $50 on)
-
Re: FIGHTS THAT DIDNT LIVE UP TO THE HYPE ??
You want one....
Tyson vs Seldon(Scaredy Cat)

Agreed.
Oscar - Hopkins gave me the bother also...I liked it while it lasted...but it wasn't what it was cracked up to be.

mr tzsyu has a monster punch ;)
but floyd did well
zab won a couple of round and didnt get knocked out!
i never expected a war so i wasnt disapointed..i knew floyd would justs box and eventually stroll it\!!

Along the same lines, the rematch between McCall and Lewis. First and hopefully the last time I'll ever have to see a grown man start crying like a little girl and decide to stop fighting.
Yes I know Cory Spinks cries like a little girl too but on the whole he waits until the fight is over :P
-
Re: FIGHTS THAT DIDNT LIVE UP TO THE HYPE ??
Well don't watch anymore Audley Harrison fights Bilbo!...you never know....and someone might spill their nachos at a James Toney-Kirk Johnson-Danny Williams fight...there would be some crying going on there....fat fucks

jones tarver three was slow and it looked like roy was just there to get payed never realy committed himself to winning the fight just strolled along and made sure he wasnt knocked out...
not that im dissing roy i love the guy but it wasnt a good fight..
also jones-toney i wouldnt have changed for the world,
roy proved that he could outwork toney and somewhat look a step above toney who was 'the man' at the time! i mean no knockout but no way i would say it disapointed

i agree on chavez whittaker two BIG names.... step up against eachother... should have been some wild entertaining shiz....wasnt bad .. not hreat though
but why did tito -oscar suck?
i can't see why people didnt appreciate it... i mean yeh it was controversial but it far from sucked!!
oscar put on a supreme boxing lesson... its one of my favourite fights!!
it was purely conrolled by oscar sticking moving utilising his jab... using his strait right against tito after tito's camp had said hes just a left handed fighter.... it was good boxing..
just because it was a shame about oscar not keeping up the lesson and the decision bieng dodgy doesnt mean that it sucked...

It was supposed to be the fight of the century. It was a boxing lesson for half the fight, then running. These guys were in their prime. If it was a fight and they both tried to decisively win, it would have been great. ODH tried to win an easy decision. He didn't go out to stop Tito, and he ran the last half. Very disappointing regardless of the decision. I wanted to see a fight like Morales-Barrera, but it was nothing close.

lol i see what your getting at a bit clearer now.. yeh i agree, but i think oscar is a little bit too smart to get into a through and through war with tito like erik did with marco ( love the trilogy ;) )
not taking anything away from oscars power or chin, but tito had some god given power but it was taken away from him during the oscar fight due to the lack of power he could generate whilst oscar was moving so greatly...
plus no offence to my man tito but he is a very one dimensional fighter.. never intends to take a step back unless forced ;)

Re: FIGHTS THAT DIDNT LIVE UP TO THE HYPE ??
ODLH vs Hopkins hands down! man they hyped that up to be HAGLER HEARNS for the new millenium. larry merchant kept saying that over and over right before the bell. shiiiiiiiiit they even gave OSCAR the gift win over Felix Sturm to guarantee it man.
RJJ vs Tarver III i agree with cuz my boy RJJ although showed that he still had the goods to win, showboated rather than trying to beat Tarver.

Re: FIGHTS THAT DIDNT LIVE UP TO THE HYPE ??
hey guys read what someone said about lewis vs vitali fight Why do fights seldom live up to the hype these days? I don't know about the rest of the boxing fans who witnessed tonight's heavyweight championship match-up, I can only speak for myself, and I will leave no stone unturned, as it's usually my style.
The Lennox Lewis - Vitali Klitschko bout turned out to be one of the worst heavyweight championship fights I have ever witnessed. It was like watching two huge robots trying to take each other out with one big punch; a feat that -hard as they tried- neither was able to accomplish.
Lennox Lewis came into this match in what seemed like very poor conditioning. He was the heaviest ever, soft around the middle and very sluggish. He looked sloppy, unable or unwilling to throw combinations, his stamina was questionable, and it was pathetic to see the man who calls himself "the last of the greats" gasping for air as early as the second round.
Vitali Klitschko didn't do much better. Here is the fight of his life, his opportunity to become the king of the hill, his shot at putting to rest the "quitter" label that has been hunting him since the fight with Chris Byrd. You would think he would have tried harder, he would have come in sharper, but to no avail. One punch at a time, loading up for the grand slam, when he couldn't even get a hit up the middle, give me a break!
To round out the situation, they hire a referee, Lou Moret, who is at least a foot shorter than either combatant, many moons older and just not on top of things. He allowed a lot of unnecessary roughness, never had control of the action in the ring.
Fast forward through the stoppage and all that ensued. Enter Larry Merchant, HBO's baddest of the bad, with microphone in hand and a definite chip on his shoulder.
Merchant approached Lennox Lewis in a very confrontational mode, acting more like a disgruntled patron than the professional he is getting paid well to be. He taunted Lewis, and kept pushing the issue of whether Lennox would admit that Vitali has heart.
I am not sure what Merchant's point was, or why he needed to make a point in the first place. I do know this... Larry is losing his objectivity and I fail to understand why HBO is not addressing this problem. It's not the first time for Merchant but the progression certainly seems to be worsening.
Merchant and Lewis engaged in a tug of war over the microphone which provided much needed comic relief for yours truly. Following the stinging interview with Lewis, Larry went on to the Klitschko corner, and wasted little time singing Vitali's praises, thanking him for "a great fight."
I don't know what fight Merchant was watching, perhaps he is having Bobby you-know-who problems, perhaps he plays favorites, perhaps he just doesn't care that people know he is playing favorites. I say perhaps HBO should pull the plug on Larry Merchant. He is stepping over the line, his objectivity dwindles with each broadcast, and tonight he was terribly antagonistic towards the man who -whether we like it or not- was not only the victor, but also reigns as undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
The verdict... Lennox Lewis stops Vitali Klitschko in 6 rounds. The Ukrainian suffered two cuts over his left eyelid which deemed him unable to continue in the eyes of the ring physician Dr. Paul Wallace.

Re: FIGHTS THAT DIDNT LIVE UP TO THE HYPE ??
i didnt think fight was as bad as he was saying i thought it was quite good fight
-
Re: FIGHTS THAT DIDNT LIVE UP TO THE HYPE ??
Lewis-Vitali was AWESOME....1) It was on regular HBO 2) The original fight was supposed to be Lewis-Johnson 3) Vitali was "untested" at the time
I will admit the pace slowed near the end but that was a great fight both fighters swung for the fences and stood their ground.
Hatton-Collazo wasn't too good
-
Re: FIGHTS THAT DIDNT LIVE UP TO THE HYPE ??
I guess it's all about opinions and we all have our own.
Mine is that i enjoyed the fight and wished we could have seen a rematch. One of Lewis' toughest fights imo.
;)

I thought Hatton-Collazo was exciting ! punch for punch.

Re: FIGHTS THAT DIDNT LIVE UP TO THE HYPE ??
Well yeah but the punches didn't do any damage, and I wanted Ricky to KO Collazo.
Luis is one ugly bastard, with his graveyard teeth and everything
