WOW :o! When was this CC for the vid man. That was a tense moment, but both guys voices were calm. WHY DIDNT RIDDICK FACED LENNOX????? It be a very competitive fight IMO.
they never fought because lewis wanted more money then bowe even though bowe was the undisputed champion, bowes manger rock newmen sumed it up perfect
he said.....when riddick was goner fight holyfield we never made money a issue, that fact bowe was fighting for the title is what we wanted, we knew riddick could beat evander.........lewis needs to understand bowe is the world champ so he gets the large end of the money, if lewis and his people are confident he'll beat bowe then that should be enough to take the fight, he'll make the large end of money when he's champ unless they know he cant beat bowe so figger wer better make as much from the fight coz we'll never be champ
its not word for word but you get the point
Riddick seems pretty laid back
Could you imagine tyson back in the eighties if Lewis told hi,m he was gonna knock him out, in fact Mike would probably just have laughed in his face
didn't actually know that side of it, CC for the info I just assumed Bowe didn't have the heart.. Always thought it was weird since Lewis was still a little green around then and Bowe was a beast.. One thing that doesn't make sense though, is why did Riddick throw the title away like that... Surely if Lewis was demanding too much money then it could have gone to a purse bid or something else.. Im actually clueless here, I assume Lewis was the no.1 contender, so Bowe had to either fight him or vacate... If that's the case wouldn't there be a way to ensure Lewis couldn't demand too much of the purse, wouldn't it go to a bid or what not??Quote:

Not too sure about that, Lewis quickly adapted to Tyson's style and frustrated him back in the 80s, when they sparred Lewis had him wrapped round the end of his finger.Quote:

Why dyou think Lewis upped sticks from there so quick ? His trainer was fed up of patching him up and Lewis losing confidence, why dyou think years later Lewis still had a huge fixation on Mike even though hed long since been a viable force ::**
so if you shouldnt believe everything you read then why do you...or should we believe that tale!!Quote:

oh the old... hes asking too much money excuse. ::**
its like the promoters get out of jail free card ;)
riddick was going to have a mega rematch with holyfield with both men getting well over 20 plus million, he'd get less the half that to fight lewis, plus he's courage would have beened questioned if he refused holyfield a rematch, so with lewis making stupid money demands as well the fight never happed
i feel bowe would have ko'd lewis, if mcall and rahman can ko him with one punch imagine what bowe would have done
I would have rather seen Bowe-Tyson myself
Lewis-Bowe right then would have been a hotly contested fight and could have gone either way.
Riddick was 2 years younger YET he was getting the better fights and beating EVERYONE he was put in with...problem is Bowe never fought Bruno, Rudduck, Morrison, etc....the only guy he looked like a World Beater against was Holyfield....
A Holyfield whom 6 years later Lennox Lewis STRUGGLED MERCIFULLY against.
I think Bowe had more confidence at the pro level...anything can happen when 2 guys fight in the pros...amateur fights CAN be telling and they can also be flukes....COTTO-PINTO for one
As an American...I'd like to say this one thing...well...three things.
#1: Love Lewis...always have...always will.
#2: Riddick Bowe was such a dick! Biggest waste of talent period.
#3: Lewis woulda kicked the shit outta that punk.
Only in America baby! ;D
This was immediatly after Bowe Beat Holyfield. Lewis was doing the color commentary, because he had already beat Rudduck, and was suppose to fight the winner, in the 4 man tournament. Lewis looked as though he though Bowe was coming over to shake his hand or something, and I think he was shocked at Bowe bad temperment.Quote:

The only reason they didn't fight wasn't because of Bowe, well it was, but it was because he was Rock Newman's bitch.Quote:

You don't fake your way through that stuff.
Agreed...that shit was like the closing scene of Boogey Nights...I mean come the fwock on...you can't fake that...can you? Don't answer that! :willydance: ;DQuote:

Good vid, never seen it before
I really think that Lennox had the tools to beat Riddick, but Riddick fast hands and power would have given us one of the most beautiful bout of the 90's. It's pretty a shame this on never happened...same with Tyson-Bowe.
A focused Lennox Lewis is pretty tough to beat....but then again so was a focused Bowe
Tyson post prison was a 4 round fighter, he would just not train good enough to go the distance from 1991 to today Tyson had 1 fight that went the distance...Rudduck.
And he had 5 losses in that period too so from 1991 on Tyson would have lost to anyone good: Bowe, Lewis, Holyfield, and perhaps MORRISON.
Golota was one of the better guys Mike was able to beat.
yes he joined after 2nd golota fight but he left marines after 1 day because he didnt think they would treat him so hardQuote:

well i see this fight going two ways lewis manages to fend of bowe with hes jab and keep it on outside or bowe gets inside and ko lewisQuote:

That was right before Lewis was knocked out by Oliver McCall right?
I hate Lennox but that was a hilarious ending. Loved the scrolling words.
The contrast of the both of them... its freaking hilarious!!!
Lennox the "I'm going to knock you out..you know I'm going to knock you out" in the most politist form
Bowe the "I aitn scurred you face a chump he scared of you..we gonna do it we gonna do it." With the fire
That was just funny.
A prime Bowe was a much more complete fighter than a prime Lewis, Bowe fought on the outside and he could bang on the inside (he was almost better there than outside.)
Bowe had a better chin than Lewis also. The problem with Bowe was his attitude toward training IMO.
I duno if Bowe had a better chin afterall he was floored 3 times , Lewis has only ever been floored twice . In terms of talent Lewis far exceeds Bowe. I think Bowe knew it too
What a load of shitQuote:

According to the Lewis/Frank Maloney books, Newman was asking for silly shit like a 90%-10% cut. Eventually Lewis team agreed to a 75%-25% cut but Bowe still didn't wanna know...and Lewis was willing to accept much less than the $9 million he was getting for Tucker ;)
lennnoc has been floored four times in his career
by rahman
oliver mcall
shannon briggs
henry akinwande
ehh wrong bud he was only floored by mccall and rahman and i dont think they fought as amateurs did they ??Quote:
