Chaos surrounded the Beverly Hills Hotel in L.A. California as super featherweight superstars Erik Morales (48-4, 34 KOs) and Manny Pacquiao (42-3-2, 33 KOs) met in advance of their third fight on November 18 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. Both fighters wasted no time as they arrived around the same time with both looking very fit.
Morales, who looked particularly slim and fit, arrived with his new Velocity training team which included four trainers and a world rennown nutrionist. "I call you to give me an opportunity," said El Terrible. "Today I will tell you to believe in me. Since I was 23 years old, this is the first time that I am going to be training in great shape."
"When I'm not in front of them, they are saying that they're going to knock me out and that they are going to retire me. I will say to them in their face that the only thing I need to worry about is to come in great condition and make weight. Then we will celebrate on November 18!"
Pacquiao who was bombarded with questions about retirement, a rematch with Barrera, and managerial issues, was calm and relaxed as he approached the podium.
"I have nothing to say about Morales," said the Pacman. "I know he's in great shape right now. I know he will make weight on November 18th and I know he will be in 100 percent condition. It's going to be a great fight! I will try my best to give you guys a good fight and bring a victory to my country!"
Manny Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach commented, "This will be a big fight for everyone. I know Morales wants revenge and Manny has his whole country behind him. We are going to work really hard for this fight."
In regard to 'The Grand Finale,' promoter Bob Arum stated "Tickets to date have been absolutely phenomenal! This fight is headed for sellout and we expect there will be 16,000 people!"
Tickets priced at $50, $100, $200, $300 and $500 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The pay-per view telecast has a suggested retail price of $49.95 and will be distributed by HBO Pay-Per-View.

Re: Morales: Pacquiao- The Grand finale!!!
I really want Morales to pull this one off, but at the same time I crave a second bout with Pac and Barrera.
This is going to require something quite special from Morales, but he is looking far less rotund than recent pictures have shown, perhaps he can overcome his conditioning flaws and give us another great showing....perhaps....

Expect to be surprised. That's all I'm saying. ;) Everybody is saying Pac Barrera II, not Morales Barrera IV. I'm not saying Morales will win (JUST YET). But expect to be surprised. That goes for everyone else too! ;D

I expect an improved Morales performance and think he can win, but that opinion only comes from knowing how good he can be. How good he will be is that unknown variable that makes this so exciting....

If your talking about "conditioning" your dead wrong. Morales' problems never had a rooted in that. HBO thinks so, since they always talk about that and talked about during all his recent fights. When it comes to HBO and Morales.... they can suck my ballzz!!!! heh HBO has been wrong in just about every aspect with Morales... almost every aspect. And when they review a future Hall of Famer with such ignorance, that pisses me off... but even worse, what does that say about HBO? The leader in boxing showcases.
Morales will BE AS GOOD AS HE CAN BE, I'll tell you that straight up. I just don't know if the "fight odometer" has one last classic in store for Pacquiao. I sense so, but sense has nothing to do with it.
Your a cool guy, so I'll tell yah... Morales' problems root from TAKING ON THE BEST in so little a time frame and late in his War Torn career. Currently no fighter, including Corrales, has taken on grueling champions and has been though 12 long rounds with A+ world class fighters consecutively, repeatedly, and consistently. Nobody on PLANET EARTH! Just go by boxrec and check it out. I'll be the first and ONLY to say this. heheh No disrespect to fighters like Pacquiao, Corrales, and Castillo, because those men take on the best and put Mayweather's current resume to shame.
But conditioning isn't the root of it. Morales will be in his best shape, make no mistake.

Re: Morales: Pacquiao- The Grand finale!!!
16,000 sold out crowd=16,000 fine asss pinays and one lucky man sitting all the way in front RINGSIDE baby! :-*
-
Re: Morales: Pacquiao- The Grand finale!!!
((NOTE: I deserve a cc for that inside track! haha)) ... no seriously I DO!!! From everybody else too!
Go ahead, go to boxrec and see for yourself, compare Morales with all the other bad*sses of the sport. He, Morales, was just unlucky and took on some mean sunsofbiatchez who just never wanted to go down! THEN be honest with yourself and tell yourself, how in the hell can you be in %100 shape all the time when all your doing is getting hit everywhere, time after time, in battles with the best..... how can you keep fighting at 100 percent! The answer is it isn't possible!
Then you go on HBO and they comlpain about your weight!

Re: Morales: Pacquiao- The Grand finale!!!
CC for the read Miles. Erik El Terrible Morales has possibly the best record of any current, active boxer, look at his resume,he does not get the credit he deserves and look,he lost to Pacman, was stopped but what a warrior,he wants a rematch straight away,I don't remember MAB saying he wanted Pac again, that was 3 years ago.. I believe in him and if he comes in 100%,I KNOW he can beat Pac,I'm sorry but overall,he is by far the better boxer. I respect and like Manny alot,he is P4P top 2,but COOOMMMMMEEEE ONNNNNN ELLLLLL TEERRRIIIBBLLLLE!! Ihope he KTFO Manny. And I'd bet anyone on this forum that Erik will do better than MAB does second time around.
Ooooops, just read your post Gyro, you nailed it bro,CC. Erik has been fighting B to A grade fighters all his life,Chavez,MAB,Pac,Chi,Ayala, hernandez,Espades,Ke vin Kelley,Junior Jones,Angel CHacon, mccollough,Zaragoza,Raheem,I could go on all day.

CC backatyah!
As a matter of fact, had Erik Morales NEVER existed, Manny Pacquiao would have been my FAVORITE!!! But the little Phillipine just TKO'd my favorite fighter and talked trash afterwards.
That ain't sittin well with me. 8)

Re: Morales: Pacquiao- The Grand finale!!!
Just to clarify, Morales DOES have a weight problem, BUT his real problem is his unforgiving schedule. He just needs to rest! For a couple of years he's been putting his body through the wringer!
Now he rested a couple of months (I hope that was enough) AND he's fixing his eating habits for this training camp.
-
Re: Morales: Pacquiao- The Grand finale!!!
As mentioned in other posts, i would love Morales to win this one. But on the other hand i would also like Barrera to have another go at Pacman, to right the wrongs of the last affair.
Does anyone think Pac would fight Barrera even if he lost to Morales ?
-
Re: Morales: Pacquiao- The Grand finale!!!
Pac on Morales ----->
Quote:
I know he's in great shape right now
Pac knows that Morales is nowhere near to his ideal weight / shape . I think if Erik was in with Raheem again this time he'd lose and alot of its got to do with his conditioning . IMO hes finished as a fighter and Pacs lucky the fights happening now and not 5 years ago

Making the weight wasnt what I was getting at but I feel that was a difficulty last time out. I feel with this team and the way he is looking now he is bang on target with that. I just worry that the last Pac fight would have had a lasting effect on Erik mentally. He is a proud man and to have been stopped like that must have been tough. And like you say, Erik has been in a lot of tough bouts and here he is marching straight into another one. You dont get much tougher than this.
I like to believe Morales has what it takes but we really dont know how much there is left in him. Its only when Pac really tries to lay it on that we will know if Morales can still let it all hang out and come through. This is the unknown variable I was referring to.
No more doubts, Morales IS going to win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bring itttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!! ;D
CC's to Gyro and El Gamo....interesting points all round...

Re: Morales: Pacquiao- The Grand finale!!!
i think that Morales is still very much game and can beat Pacquiao just like the first fight or worse, he still has the tools to stop him, remember Manny was wobbled a couple times, even in the rematch
-
Re: Morales: Pacquiao- The Grand finale!!!
Morales has and always will have the size and skill advantage that's why it surpises me alot of people right him off for this fight. It wouldn't suprise me if he wins but it will definitely be near disgrace if he gets stopped again by a smaller framed fighter.

heheh, I know what your saying, BUT I'm betting Manny Pacquiao can knock out any of us fools in here! haha Little Man can HIT!!! With speed to boot, you don't need size or HEIGHT!
The way I'd fight Manny is.... RUN!!! Haha

CC back, it's good to hear all the Morales fans come back alive! ;D
Pacquiao ain't no young buck either! He's been in some tough tussles. The thing about Pac is he's inconsistent, sometimes he shows up UNBEATABLE and the next fight he shows up looking sloppy and tired.

If Morales blazed though Pac. I can seriously see Pac Barrera come though.
People would want Morales Barrera IV, well I should say Mexicans would want part IV. haha But negotiations will probably fall apart from Morales' & Bob Arum's and Barrera & Oscar de la Hoya's hatred toward each other.
And Pac would need a "comeback fight" and Barrera a "redemption fight." People may feel Barrera may have a better chance now that Pac would be a little softened up from Morales and Barrera would be much more prepared.
Hell Pac called for the lighting now he's gotta hear the BOOOOM!!! Talking like he's taking on Mexico, he has to live up to that. haha Pac is so talented that he can actually pull it off too, but Barrera and Morales, even when they lose, if they train right, and are "young enough" they're monsters.
ELLLLLLLL TEEEEERRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIBBBBLLLLLLEEEEEE!!!!!!!! ;D

Re: Morales: Pacquiao- The Grand finale!!!
very good points argued for both pac and EM and that my friends is what makes this rubber match sooo freakin exciting is that anything can and will probably happen. one thing is certain and that is it will NOT be boring at all! from watching this fight in the privacy of your own living room, or at a sports bar or even RINGSIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE directly behind Pacquiao's corner in row lucky 7 ;)

CC to you brod. That's what makes Pacquiao greaaaaat, he beat a great, bigger, and longer-armed boxer, a sure hall of famer, who has all the advantage working for him - it seems almost unfair to me that a bigger guy should be picking on a small guy, but a heck with that, the small boy won anyway. The age? c'mon guys they're only 2 years different and besides, I bet defense-hungry Pac has gobbled up as many power shots as Erik has. That's why he's fast becoming number 1 in many P4P lists. But don't get me wrong, if there is anyone who can beat Pac, it's the great Terrible himself, noone else, IMO. So if Pac beats Erik, I think he will be unbeatable for quite a while. But I'll reserve my judgement on Valero coz I haven't seen his fights yet.
-
Re: Morales: Pacquiao- The Grand finale!!!
C' back Miles, this is an awesome thread guys, great points by everyone,EM and Pac nuthuggers alike. Having just read the article Gyro posted, about EM's fitness,I honestly,a 100% fit EM beats Manny. I just hope he really is 100% fit. His conditioning was poor for the Raheem fight,he looked lazy and sluggish in my opinion. That was however,an excellent point someone raised,Erik has shaken Manny on a NUMBER of occasions,I just hope he knocks him on his ass this time! All I know for a fact is that their previous two fights are two fight of the year contenders(and personal all time great fights for me!) and I expect this to be no different,2 awesome fighters, doing it 1 more time!
i AGREE pACFAN,IF Manny wins this,he will be unbeaten for a long time. I just don't see how MAB will do it,Guzman is super skilled but can he fight at the pace Pac sets, and if he stays on the ropes against Pac,and tries to roll those short, fast, furious punches,he WILL get KTFO and at this time,Valero is too raw. IF Valero reverts to the fooking boxing style I have seen him show beautifully in sparring, give him a year, let him fight other top rated fighters and then he will KTFO pACQUIOA!!!(just kiddin!)

Re: Morales: Pacquiao- The Grand finale!!!
Where have you been, brod Gamo?! I've been looking all over for you and missing your usual daily breads, I mean threads. This place isn't the same without ya, and I'm sure many others were looking for you to. Well anywayz welcome back - 'please graciously accept my cc as a welcome gift.' ;D naw, I'll make it this ;) this time around.
Oops, those clicks are dangerously close to each other but don't worry, I got it right; glad they weren't bomb buttons.

Re: Morales: Pacquiao- The Grand finale!!!
hahaha, bro,I wasn't here for 1 day and it felt to me as if something was missing,I love this place! Have a cc bro,I had to make time for the girls yesterday man! I'm going to back to university soon but I'll still make time to post alot, will just have to finish assignments off quickly so I can talk boxing with you guys :-[ ;D
Bro,I just watched Morales Pac 1 and 2 and those were my extremes for boxing happiness and sadness. Both fights were incredible,so much skill courage and machismo on show! I'm soooooooo nervous about the third fight!!
So Pacfan, what are you going to do when this fight is over, are you still coming online as often?? Or will you cut down until Pac's next fight? And what about when Pac is retired? You better still come online bro! >:mad ;D :D

Re: Morales: Pacquiao- The Grand finale!!!
Got your message, thanks a lot. I didn'y know about the (top secret), pretty cool ha. But I'll have to pass those coz I'm here in a rural area so I'm still using the old modem connection which is supposedly to be running at 56k but actually running at 5k (hey, guys don't laff).
Gals! Ya, that's about the only reason that can get the good El Gamo out of here. I bet even the nagging of your mom won't get you out of this place, 'hey son Gamo, get outta there and do your chores,' I can almost hear it (just kiddin'). I've noticed that almost everytime I come here, I see you smiling there at the roster on the top so naturally I've got used to it. So when I didn't see you there, I felt something missing. Well anyway, glad to see you there today.
So you're planning to juggle your studies and your activities here, boy, that'll be tough. Talking of college reminds me of my strict dad, who was one of the pioneer computer experts and who played violin on a Japanese orchestra, always dismayed by his brat son (yup, that's me) who never went college or even finished high school. So good luck to you there, I hope you can manage both.
The Mor-Pac I & II, ya I know what you mean. Those were real tearjerkers! Those were total wars! can't imagine they'd be doing it again. If I were them, I'd made up some excuses. Feel sorry for their brains. But your boy seems to be pretty fit, that's really scary :o.
I haven't decided how often I'll be coming here. To be honest, I've been neglecting some of the things I should be doing since I came here, but this place is addictive! My folks here are already complaining, 'Pacfan, (no, that's not my name) you've been wasting your time sitting there for hours, get out of there!' I'd love to stay here, but we'll have to see. But it's almost sure I won't be totally away, unless of course Pac loses and I go into a fit of depression, :'( .
-
Re: Morales: Pacquiao- The Grand finale!!!
the second fight was no blow out by any means so to think that Pacquiao will blast him away in 4 is crazy, i think a fit and well conditioned Morales will out box and out brawl Manny Pacquiao and either get a well earned large margin UD or stop Pac Man in the around the 9th or 10th

Thanks very much and nice meeting you, sir. You can count me as friend, bro. :D Brazil...hmmm, the only thing I know is one of your telenovelas was shown here few years ago. I think it was titled 'Sonho Meu.' That was pretty good drama.

You otta be kiddin,' I can't even go near the Larios fight and you're asking me if I'd be there. That only happens in my dreams and believe me it did happen in my dream! The closest I can get is go to the nearest movie theater and watch the fight there live. But the most likely thing will be as usual I'll be climbing up my roof fixing my antenna and bear with my good ol' tube - signal barely reaches here in my place.
Lucky guy! Just don't forget to describe yourself esp. what you'd be wearing on that day. 8) I'll be watching out for ya, that's for sure. Maybe you ought to carry a placard saying 'Pacfan, it's me!' ;D And I'll guaratee you, you'll be getting CC's for 5 straight day.......that is..
If Pac wins. ;)
