Abraham-Miranda press conference and pictures

At noon today, an entertaining press conference before the middleweight world championship fight between champion Arthur Abraham (Berlin) and Edison Miranda (Colombia) on Saturday in Wetzlar came to an entertaining end for the reporter and photographer. Before the obligatory posing photo the challenger ran his finger over his throat in order to show Abraham that he wants to give him a real clobbering. The world champion replied to the unkind gesture by raising both middle fingers at Miranda.

Miranda´s team repeatedly had liven things up during the last weeks by verbal attacks. Even today, the Colombian self-confidently presented himself at the microphone. “I´ll win this fight – prematurely in fact. I´ll knock Abraham down. And I have a question: Where´s the belt, anyway? It´s only two days for you to have it. Seize the time and take a few cherished photos. On Saturday the belt will belong to me and you´ll never see it again.”

During the challenger´s dialog of almost ten minutes, Abraham appearing amused listened to the translation from Spanish and whispered into his manager´s ears: “Mr Sauerland, the fight won´t last as long as he´s talking now.” Unlike his opponent, Arthur did not need many words at the microphone..

“Miranda rather should have become a teacher than boxer. Telling the children something at school – that seems to be his thing. Fortunately, there are just three meetings left – the weigh-in, the fight and afterwards, I´ll visit you at the hospital one time.”

Miranda´s manager Steve Benbasat who had called Abraham a “one-dimensional boxer“ in the run-up put his statement into concrete terms today. “We have watched videos. Abraham has a few weapons but that won´t be enough to beat Edison “Pantera” Miranda.

Meanwhile, Arthur´s coach Ulli Wegner has not the slightest doubt that Abraham leaves the ring as the champion. “It´s about a world championship – that means against a strong opponent. But Arthur is one of a kind. Miranda never has felt such a punch. Arthur will smash him. He wins by k.o.!”

Even the new entry of the former Smurfs´ boxer was one of the press conference´s topics. Abraham is going to walk into the Rittal Arena as “King Arthur” after the entry as a Smurf has been prohibited for copyright reasons. “Thinking about the music something really special occurred to me," the champion tells. “But that remains a mystery up to the fight."

This should have really been an HBO or Showtime fight, or shown somehow in America. Should be a good fight.

Abraham best slap this guy! he is fighting in Germany so i can see a UD for him ;D

man i never noticed this fight!! didnt know it was on, just passed me by, but looking at that it looks to be a bit of a war to go down!!
i like abrahams three meetings left line!! love a good comeback and thats one of the best ive heard!! think i might have to use it sometime!! :P

Abraham was kinda giggling when he held up his fingers. Didn't look too confident and Miranda had a look on his face like 'I'm gonna f*ck you up!".

Abraham has no one other than Eastman on his record and he won that fight by UD....I just hope Miranda can land his shot because if he does I HIGHLY doubt Abraham's ability to take it

Pavlik had trouble against Zuniga, Pavlik hasn't fought anyone near the caliber of Ikeke or Eastman.
Just leave Pavlik out for now 'till he fights someone that matters.

Fair enough Mick, But the boy has potential!

Pavlik does have potential and lot's of power. But since he hasn't beaten anyone decent I don't see Miranda 'risking' a fight with him since there won't be enough money involved.
Miranda will call out Taylor/Wright for some big money, but since that is at least 6-12 mths away, I expect him to take 1-2 safer fighters until he can really cash in.

I, myself, would love a Miranda vs Pavlik battle, but it might be even a better build up to have it 1+ years from now.

Miranda is going to do a tap dance , on that Araham snatch box ;)

Taylor is on another level than these guys....anyone who beats Hopkins and hangs in with Winky is damned good

No, basic boxing skills will always defeat a big mouth with a hyped resume. Only a lucky punch would be able to win this fight for Miranda soft-drink; remember Lacy (Lacy landed only 4 punches in that fight against Calzaghe's 1006), Sam P and fat cat Toney

There is 1 thing that worries me, thats that Abraham stands still and waits tooooooooooooooo long on his opponent. He did it often against Eastman and also against Kofi. He lets them get off and only covers up he doesnt use his waist or feet to move out of the way. Instead he stands still.

Now add that to Mirandas power and pressure/coming forward style and it could be over for Abraham pretty soon.

When he leads with his right hand he is about to come with a left hook. If Miranda's team scounts that then Abraham will have some problems

He also seems to have a tendency to drop that right hand when he jabs. If Miranda throws something over that jab that could smell for some trouble.

after abraham, its gonna be taylor. winky will get destroyed by this colombian, the guy is too big too strong, and the way winky blocks the punches by covering up, with miranda's power he'll knock himself out- worse than he was in the past! miranda has already beaten a world class fighter, some1 who fought for the title, some1 not even hopkins could stop - eastman. he was winning the fights on the cards too. he has a good amatuer background. 132 fights and 128 wins. most of the wins were knockout alot of em were first round ones too! this guy has serious power, p4p probably more than lacy!

Miranda's chin still hasn't been tested. Since the temple shots Eastman landed could wobble anyone. Ask Vernon what happened when Mayorga hit his temple..or more or less ask Mayorga what happened when Oscar tapped his.

If Miranda can take a punch, and avoid the counter right of Abraham, he could win.

Not entirely sold on Miranda.

Eastman was his usual, lazy old self against him in that fight - you could hear McCraken telling Howard in the corner to pull his finger out his arse and work.

Miranda was shaken a few times during the encounter and didn't seem too...polished.

Perhaps he could beat Poppa smurf with a good power shot, but should avoid the big middle-weight guns.
