Oscar Delahoya being oscar delahoya (a coward)
since oscar went on record and lied in some interview about tito (who he is trying to call out of retirement, to avoid fighting mayweather and adding another loss on his record) demanding 80% of the purse, don felix stepped up and said theyll do it for 50/50
http://boxingtalk.com/pag/article9740.html
to which oscar responded "we must have 70% to make this fight happen"
http://boxingtalk.com/pag/article9739.html
which is the same as mayorga got ::**
am i the only one who remembers oscar saying if he ever fights again, its only gonna be mayweather because he wants to go out against the best?
now hes resorted to calling ageing boxers out of retirement and lying about their demands as an alternative to backing up his big talk and stepping in the ring with certain doom (mayweather)
i think he lost all of his heart when he started making those sappy ass music videos

Re: Oscar Delahoya being oscar delahoya (a coward)
Who knows who is telling the truth here? In the boxing world a person's word usually should be taken with a grain of salt. How do you know Triniad and his team didn't originally want the 80/20? Maybe they realized the absolute stupidity of that offer and they are back tracking. Who really knows. He has always said he has wanted a rematch with Felix. And I truly don't believe he is scared of fighting Floyd. STOP THE HATING.
-
Re: Oscar Delahoya being oscar delahoya (a coward)
I wouldn't say he was a coward but he is certainly shrew and savvy. Have you seen where he says that if Mayweather wants 50-50,the fight is off?!!?!?! I thought 50-50 is EXACTLY what Mayweather wanted? In this interview,Oscar categorically stated that he did not want Tito!
-
Re: Oscar Delahoya being oscar delahoya (a coward)
and no way is he scared of PBF!! No way,not when you move to 160 to fight B Hop or when you have a resume like Oscar's
-
Re: Oscar Delahoya being oscar delahoya (a coward)
i dont think oscar is a coward. i just think his opnion of himself is a little too high. 50-50 with pbf is more than fair. especially since at this point, pbf is the better fighter.
as for tito, where does he come off demanding ANY fight(much less one with oscar) after that DREADFUL performance agasint winky. titi had his day. taht day is over.

Damn it zhubin I thought I told you to leave that hate pipe alone, Felix Trinidad would have never offered that considering he took on third of their first fight and still went out there and won so saying that maybe he did is just not believable, besides the guy gave you the link up top so what are you talking about. And besides Oscar has alway's said he has wanted a rematch but on his terms (meaning 65-35) and now he want's 70%, and cant believe this guy has such a big fan following.

Hes a buisinessman. He knows what he is doing and in no way is he coward. Hes fought more world champs than probably any other current fighter. Hes not afraid of little Floyd

He is a businessman an all about the money, and he will lie, cheat, and steal to be on top. He has critical of people such as Tyson, Vargas, Don King and others inside the ring as well as outside stating that they were not good for boxing, but undercover he will do the same thing's. The sad part is if he were acutually to come out and act like the villian that he actually is I would love him, he would probably be my favorite fighter, but I have seen him recieve the benefit of the doubt too many times.

Well he plays his cards right. I dont think he is evil i think hes good for boxing and boxers. I do think he is shrewd thought and probably as manipulative as Don King, but hey more power to him

What ever you say buddy. Felix should be happy he would get anything to fight Oscar again...considering he got ass kicked by Winky in his last fight and knows deep down he lost to Oscar in their first match. You can't believe he has such a big fan following?!! Of course you don't. You are "hater" in every true sense of the word.

The Trinidad's have been on record fro years saying 60/40 and DK promotes the rematch . Theri terms have always been open and clear . Oscar on the other hand , changes his statements all the time. Just last week he said "let him come in at 160. I'll come in at 152,153 and be faster . " Now this week it has to be 154 . Why all the positioning ? Tito has never tried to get anyone at the right time or when they showed weakness ( Sweet Pea being a possible exception.) . Oscar always has .When Tito came out of retirement , he clearly staed he would fight either Oscar or Hopkins straight up no tuneup. Both declined for monetary reasons. No parlay just declined. Oscar is promoter now. I'll take a retired fighter's word , a man with nothing to prove , over Oscar any day of the week.

Re: Oscar Delahoya being oscar delahoya (a coward)
The bloke is one of the best fighters off this generation simple as. Its disrespectful to say he's being a coward. If he faught Tito now he would DESTROY him! I actaully think they will sort a ODLH-PBF bout and boy i cant wait for it!
-
Re: Oscar Delahoya being oscar delahoya (a coward)
I am sick of the hype machine that is DeLahoya...... I know he's a promoter but does he have to make a fuckin telenovela out of every potential fight he's going to get in to????
Shut up, get in the ring and fight....... and save the drama for your mamma!

Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!
Now you PBF fans want to start complaining about cowardness? PBF thinks and so do you the fans that hes the BIG man in boxing he might be in the sense of P4P but as far as an attraction he aint. Not compared to ODLH at least, I said this before PBF runs, ran and continues to run his mouth now hes after ODLH so he can pick up a nice little pay check. He knows ODLH will bring more money to him then anyone, I actually think all of this is just mind games by ODLH hes playing around with PBF messing with his head. Maybe trying to get a psychological advantage over PBF.
But anyway whatever the case may be, ODLH has that kind of power to decide who earns what and who fights him.
Now that PBF is on the other side of the blade it's a different story but when hes (PBF) in control as far as who he wants to fight all that is alright. Huh? All you PBF fans dont see nothing wrong with that all you can say is hes PBF, hes P4P, which is true but when dealing with ODLH all that is out the window, If HE wants you to fight him you will, if HE doesnt want you to fight him, then guess what? you wont cuz he brings the money.
So quit your wining and wait and see what happens. But don't worry I know and understand where your coming from.

ageing, what the hell are you talking about, both Oscar and Tito have about the same exact amount of wear and tear, the only difference is that Trinidad has retired twice after each and one of his defeats, DLH on the other hand bit down and won world titles after every loss, unlike Trinidad, I've always said it, a real champion comes back and wins another title after losing, Tito never did it, lost to B-Hop, beat Cheriffi, retired, beat Mayorga, loss to Wright, and retired, end, how the hell can Trinidad have the gaul to say that DLH never publicly asked for a rematch, am i the only one that heard him say it loud and clear on many occasions live on HBO, don't tell me Tito never saw any of the big fights that DLH would say it, i think that Oscar is just spitting bullshit about having one last fight, he'll most likely retire next year, but that'll be after he avenges the biggest robbery in the last 10 yrs in the welterweight division, in May, and probably go on to fight Mayweather later in the year and with the help of FM Snr. he'll go ahead and do what so far no one else has been able to do, and that's school Mayweather, and make the Pretty Boy not so pretty, like one of my friends said in defence of DLH, prettiness fades, but gold lasts forever ;)

Truly the point is..Tito really does not want to fight DLH or anyone else. All Tito was doing is telling DLH put up or shut up. Stopping telling the lies and put your money where your mouth is. Tito knew Oscar doesn't want to fight him and Oscar did exactly what was expected.

Re: Oscar Delahoya being oscar delahoya (a coward)
Not sure if I have commented on this thread...when they get this long...& I've been away from the board for a few...believe that or not...I sometimes forget or miss them...anywho...here goes.
Oscar has nothing to prove...calling him a coward is bordering on stupidity. He's never said NO nor has he backed down from anyone.
Sorry, Tito fans, but Oscar won the first go around & he'd do it again.
As far as Floyd goes...I'm still undecided on the outcome...but I highly doubt Oscar is dodging him.
Personally...I wouldn't be bothered if Oscar retired...he's put in enough time for his fans.

Re: Oscar Delahoya being oscar delahoya (a coward)
Oscar IS afraid of PBF. What's not there to be afraid off? Afterall, what other fighter out there has the chance to make odlh not only lose, but look like an amatuer in doing so? Sure, there are others out there capable of beating oscar but only one that can embarass oscar and he does not want that.
-
Re: Oscar Delahoya being oscar delahoya (a coward)
Whether his is still good is inconsequential. The fact remains that Oscar is without a doubt the biggest draw in boxing. He brings in the casual fans, many of whom will not even know PBF.
80-20 is a little steap, but this may be a starting point so that he can let floyd talk him down to 65%, and everyone will be happy.

For start let me correct you is Felix "Tito" Trinidad, At least the fight against Tito vs B-Hop almos went the distance if ti wasn't for Tito's Dad who was the one that stop the fight, and OScar fight B-hop because tito went in first as he did with Vargas and Mayorga among others then Tito go and fight the guy nobody want it to fight (Winky)since Tito is being TITO dodging no one, Even B-hop wasn't interestd in fighting Winky, why could that be? ::** I like Oscar fighting style but you can't take anything from TITO. After their first and only fight Oscar wanted a re-match and Tito said ok but you got to pay me more let's say 50- 50 adn by that time both where a big public draw so if they did not fight then and now it's all Oscar fault.
And yes Osca is Afraid but not at Tito or PBF I will say at Winky no wonder he sign him in to avoid that confrontation.

Winky is tough fight. He is too defensive and a south paw , you fight guys like that when they mandatory. Wink is not all that crowd pleasing and your not going to look that good win or lose.

Re: Oscar Delahoya being oscar delahoya (a coward)
I seriously think Oscar really wants this fight.
The only thing that is stopping it is Mayweather's demand of 50-50. ;)
Oscar is only calling Tito out to get Team Mayweather to back down on 50-50.
Smart by Mayweather to stick to his guns (then go down to 60-40 after Baldo),
unless Oscar suddenly retires or fight someone else to still earn millions.
-
Re: Oscar Delahoya being oscar delahoya (a coward)
50-50 is fair play.. How can Oscar not like that deal? He would be fighting the pound for pound best in boxing.. should be 60-40 the other way you ask me. ;) I am a huge Oscar fan but fair is fair !

I am curious to see if ODLH can get into Floyd's head...I DOUBT IT SERIOUSLY but am curious just to see if Floyd has taken it to the level of maturity that has progreesed after the legal stuff he had gone through before the Gatti fight....Floyd has grown up leaps and bounds since then and showed tremendous restraint during the Judah riot..That shows me that Floyd has arrived in every sense and to me his out of the ring cotroversies were gonna be the only thing holding him back, was he gonna be a great??? Or afighter with phenomenal potential but let other influences sabotage him like what happened to..
Mike Tyson
Ike Ibeabuchi
Zab Judah..Etc
I'm not kissing Floyds a** by any means but from a fan standpoint I am greatful for how he respects the sport and takes it serious to the point were training and preperation is paramount in his life instead of woman, drugs, excessive partying...So as a fan were not teased by an athlete who gets us excited and then goes off the deep end in one way or another, and we are always left wondering what could have been.....
Back to Oscar getting in Floyds head...I'm Saying no because as a defensive fighter goes he is just as good in that department as Winky, B-Hop, James Toney...All 4 of them have another outstanding quality and thats poise and mental toughness...
-
Re: Oscar Delahoya being oscar delahoya (a coward)
i think that Oscar will beat Floyd but not cause of playing mind games, i think he'll beat Floyd just cause of sheer physicality, De La Hoya is the bigger man in every sense of the word, he's taller, longer reach, and just flat out stronger, add in amazing hand speed as well, and outstanding boxing ability, and i think that De La Hoya will be too much for the much smaller Mayweather, if PBF wins it would be a close decision, the golden boy's chin is way to good for Mayweather to even dent it, also given that Mayweather Snr, would be in De La Hoya's corner, i think that he'll have also the advantage in knowing his opponant better, although Mayweather has the videos of De La Hoya's losses, but due to size and equal boxing talent, i think the Golden Boy would end his career on a high note
