Skelton v Fraudley - 09 December
And so this is it....the massive fight that Matt Skelton decided to take instead of a World title fight against Oleg Maskaev. The barnstorming moneymaker that will make both these fellows household names. Excuse me for my sarcasm, but I just think Skelton has dropped the ball on this one big time.
For Audley, this is clearly a very good fight for him. He takes on a 39 year old brawler turned boxer, and not a very convinving boxer at that, for his old belt. The fact that he ever held the belt at all is really a sad indictment of what that title has become, a stepping stone.
For Skelton, he seems to believe that the Commonwealth strap is, however, the pinnacle of his career, and has settled never to have a world title shot, or that he will be to old when that shot comes around, and he needs all the money he can when it does. In general, a very disappointing choice for Matt Skelton and a final crack at some sort of credibility for Fraudley, which he certainly doesn't deserve.
Roll on the saviour of the British heavyweight division....jsut make it soon.

this has the makingings of a snoozer...
but im just not too sure it will be... Audley's had the taste of the money and fans given to him on a plate by the BBC without having to prove himself in the pro ring.
that has all gone and he may just be hungry enough to want it back.
if he sucks in this fight its over rover... and he knows it ;)

I think it's a bit harsh to say he has dropped the ball on this one, did you read Warren's news of the world article? Apparently the offer from Russia was pathetic, what would you do travel to Russia get paid for your air fare and a bit of change, or fight for £100k or so on prime time tv? Skelton knows his limitations he probably has less than 20% chance of winning in Russia, but he is 39 and the money for a guy with his talent is obviously and id say for a man in his situation in it for the money, i dont blame him for that and it's easy for me and you to say be a man go to Russia fight for the World Title? But what happens if he gets knocked out looks horrible where does he go from there?
-
Re: Skelton v Fraudley - 09 December
well, go to russia, the risk is higher but so is the reward. Lose to Audley, where does he go? Win, only his bank balance is better off (minus management fees of course).

Yes his bank balance, he will not win in Russia, he wont knock him out he wont win on the score cards, imo he has made an ok division i cant hold that against him.

Well, fair play for holding to your guns, but surely as a Skelton fan you would have been made up seeing him get a world title shot? To see him get in the ring for a world title, hell, I'd have been drooling to see a brit heavy get a title shot for the first time in a while. But Audley....doesn't get the blood going does it, it doesn't strike me as a possible firecracker of a fight. If Matt goes back to his brawling roots, he should take it at a canter IMO.

Maybe, do you reckon that Skelton might come in thinking he's the boxer again, as he did against Williams, because I reckon that would just give the fight to Audley. Skelton has to go in there to destroy Audley, and if that is his mindset...he will.
-
Re: Skelton v Fraudley - 09 December
He'll do it with ease ;)
Audrey own brother can't stand him... ;D
He don't even fight,he does my f*cking head in.
Thats what his bro Rodney told me in the pub a few weeks ago :-\

It's a good point mate but audley seemed to freeze up against danny williams. I think skelton will initiate the attacks but will audley show some heart and fight back.

It is hard to believe that someone who won Olympic gold has managed to achieve so little in his professional career. Who knows, he might finally live up to his promise and maybe show some heart. If he was going to show it, it probably would have been during one of his previous defeats, but who knows, he may have something else left that he hasn't shown so far.

Re: Skelton v Fraudley - 09 December
Matt definetely will KO deFraudeley. This guy Matt for his 40th year is 2x in better conditions. Danny has beaten Fraud, Matt beaten Danny after a dodgy rematch. That shows everything for me.

Re: Skelton v Fraudley - 09 December
probably wil be like watching paint dry but i will watch it.
come on skelton

Re: Skelton v Fraudley - 09 December
I can't believe that Warren is inflicting the spineless conman, 'Parcel Force' Harrison on the paying British fight fan again! >:mad
Is anybody actually going to pay to see him stink the arena out AGAIN? :badass: :zzwhip: :cwm15:

Come on, surely there will be a part of you that will revel in seeing Audley absolutely destroyed by the old Skelton, who will just swat off Audley's punches like his fists were bumblebees

Actually if Audley went on an offensive onslaught he would win

Can you imagine the spineless 'Parcel Force' Harrison going on an offensive onslaught?
He doesn't have the power to KO a greenfly & after Skelton has headbutted him a few times, he'll probably jump out of the ring in total terror.

Mate...it would be like one of those WWE evenings...where Audley is wading through the crowd and Skelton chasing him. I would like seeing Audley thrown through a table ;)

Re: Skelton v Fraudley - 09 December
harrisons going get his ass kicked tko or ko for skelton or easy ud
-
Re: Skelton v Fraudley - 09 December
Honestly, Audley got nothing. Before he won that common wealth strap from Richel Hersisia (Holland) They were just making commercial (BBC) for him to attract ppl to come and see becoming a supposed champion. Thats it!!
On the other hand, This was and still is the only defeat for R. Hersisia, who was in a terrible shape that time, (could you have seen those fats hanging around his belly) and despite his size. But i dont think he should be fighting as a heavyweight.
Hersisia looks now in better condition and if they meet again im sure Hersisia will win.

That's what I think too, but wouldn't it be nice to Harrison put up a really good fight, and show some character. I think his early fights where he steamrollered bum after bum just didn't give him enough challenges, and when he did come up against a fighter that came forward, and didn't wilt at the first sign of his jab, then he realised he didn't like fighting. Danny Williams did it and now Matt Skelton did it. Isn't it tragic that the best heavyweight in Britain will be a 40-year old brawler who has very little refinement, and blew his chance to step up and take a World title fight against the most accessible of the champs. We need a revolution, and his name is.....I dunno....Tony Booth's on a 3 win streak :p

Re: Skelton v Fraudley - 09 December
i cant believe skelton. what a twat. he turns down a world title to fight that shitty audley harrison. hes an idiot. ok now that i said my bit if these two guys were to fight it would be a easy win for skelton

Re: Skelton v Fraudley - 09 December
Skelton knows he has to win this after seemingly passing up a title shot to face Parcel Force, (money talks, eh?), otherwise he will look an absolute fool and would be a laughing stock.
Even if Harrison has a bit more grit about him, I will be absolutely shocked if he does anything of note in this fight.
I expect Skelton to come out in brawler mode (as per the 1st Williams fight), instead of tactical mode (2nd bout with Williams). He will be going in with the head and elbows and will have Fraudley running round the ring pissing himself.
Skelton perhaps isnt the best technically, but he is a hard, hard man and will bully Fraudley into defeat. I expect a win for Skelton: either a UD (even allowing for points deducted for use of the head lol) or perhaps a stoppage due to a cut.
Matt isnt the fanciest boxer, but he is 100% committed and thats why I like him, even if he is a bit dirty at times. I doubt there will be much support for Harrison on the night, given his track record. Until Scott Gammer gets a bit more experience, Matt is probably our premier heavyweight (even though we all know he isnt 'world class').
Lmao at the american wrestling comparisons ;D

i dont think so audley does lazy sissy jab and does nothing i mean punch he got knocked down with by williams was punch that almost missed i think skelton wins easy unless miracle happens and audley actually fights good

Re: Skelton v Fraudley - 09 December
I cant see any possible way that Harrison wins this fight.

Precisely, so if you look at the styles of Danny Williams coming in to his bout with Audley, and that of Matt Skelton before he went all "Strictly Come Dancing" to beat DW himself, you've got to admit that they are pretty similar. And Audley was confident going into the DW fight, and if you add in the morale draining loss against Guinn as well, it makes a very strong case for a Skelton win IMO.

from what ive seen from audley he will lose i was impressed with skelton in 2nd williams rematch i think he will easily ud audley
-
Re: Skelton v Fraudley - 09 December
Soon as he catches Audley flush the "Front" will slide away and he'll be reduced to a scared little boy ;)
Really think Skelton will go all out for an early assualt.
A leopard don't change it's spots and Audley simply does not like getting hit ;)
He''ll melt ;D
-
Re: Skelton v Fraudley - 09 December
If Skelton is still fooling himself that he's a boxer, Fraudley wins on points.
If Skelton comes out like a maniac with an all out thug attack, he either gets a TKO or he makes Audley quit.
-
Re: Skelton v Fraudley - 09 December
What beat danny was condition not mat. Ive got a lot of time for Skeldons spirit. But hes not a heavy puncher , also style wise he will struggle with a southpaw
