10 Favourite Dinner Guests from all history
Right, imagine that you having 10 people around for dinner. Who woud you choose if you had a time machine like Bill and Ted's. Don't post an answer immediately, as this needs some thought. You couldn't have too many people form one discipline or field as the conversation would only be about that subject. What would you want to talk about? Who would stimulate new ways of thinking by another, who would you like to meet?
One proviso, they all have to be real people who actually existed.
Here goes, a starter, in no particular order.
Gautama, the Buddha
Hannibal the Great
Leonardo da Vinci
Genghis Khan
Jesus Christ
Pharoah Akhetanon
Charles Darwin
Joseph Stalin
Nelson Mandela
Raleights (or Violent Demise as long as he's not vegetarian)
I would also ask Hitler, but only for coffee as I would nto want him around while I was eating.

Re: 10 Favourite Dinner Guests from all history
Wasn't Babe Ruth a cantankerous fat drunk?
I'd much rather chill out with Timothy Mcvay
-
Re: 10 Favourite Dinner Guests from all history
Elvis and Bruce Lee.
Two good calls - forgot them!!!!!!

He wasn't cantankerous....he was a "party animal"
“People sometimes got mad at him, but I never heard of anyone who did not like Babe Ruth.” Ernie Shore, Ruth's teammate when they both played for the Red Sox, would say of Ruth, "He was the best-hearted fellow who ever lived. He gave you the shirt off of his back."
Now how can you be a "mean drunk" when you spend your sober hours giving homeless children shoes and what not.
The Babe just liked booze and women...same as anyone else

The very idea of Oscar Wilde deep in conversation with Mike Tyson just cracks me up!! ;D

Too many psychopaths only spoils the broth and I would like them to enjoy that before it all gets too messy under a swirl of booze. There are one or 2 hard living dudes or even dudettes among those men! Bound to have a few scenes. Mr Hitler didnt even drink and he was prone to ranting about the perils of alcohol. A few smokers there too and Hitler hated smoking even more!
It would be a very entertaining meal!!! ;D :P

Shitttt H!! i was looking over these giving some careful thought to who i would invite and you took at least 2 or 3 that i would!!
pacino
de niro
definately....
its between roy and lenny cos you couldnt invite both!!.. i think i'd go more lenny as he a bit more of a showman and hes a funny chap.. plus he gone now so it means more rather then roy who you never know i might still end up having dinner with one day! lol
will come up with mine some time
peace

Re: 10 Favourite Dinner Guests from all history
right so after careful deliberation ....
i came up with this... but having given a chance to think of all my heroes... i think it would be a little different...
1. My buddy craig. cos he's ma man and were very alike so i'd want someone to share the experiance with
also its a witness that i had dinner with 9 other great people of history ;) :P
2.James Toney.
Because James toney is james toney, enough said.
3.Felix ' tito ' trinidad... does his enterpreter come with him in a package? cos u know he always had the same guy!! think he was a close friend of tito's? but yeh he's my favourite fighter of all time.
4. James Caan. I dont know about you guys but when i first saw the godfather i pretty much thought sonny was one of the coolest cats i ever seen!
5.Len Mclean.. A real hard bastard who lived a great eventful life and was a true gent/monster/showman .. all in one.
6. Robert De niro. it was a tossup between de niro and pacino because i didnt want my entire list taken up by my favourite actors.. lol but both men have done some outstanding films that i have loved over the years and are to me the best actors out there, pretty much them marlon brando amongst others,
and what you know.. they all featured in the godfather trilogy ;)
also he's extremely rich so he can bring the beers.
7.Saddo. Although i get the distink feeling that its one of those dont take candy from a stranger things, and it may be highly likely that saddo will put butter on his fingers and finger my bum bum...
also i kinda have come round to the idea now....
He is still a legend, enough said.
8.The showstopper.. Shawn michaels... because hes the man ;)
9. Dave chappelle. Just an ingenuis comic hero of mine, its between him and ricky gervais!
they are evidently just incredibly smart in theyr writing and could probably write great material until the day they die.
10. I really struggled thinking of this one, but after noticing there aint no bitches at this partey...
sooo im afraid i will go with the first immensely hot chick that comes to mind and say stacey Keibler..
plus the party starts at 7 and finishes at 10, but its blatently obvious you would tell stacey it starts at 10.05 and hit that shit!! lol
peace

Thought I'd bump this one up for the new people who missed it the 1st time around.

Re: 10 Favourite Dinner Guests from all history
Hitler .
Muhammed Ali
Steve Coogan
Saddo
Roberto Duran
My Ex Girlfriend
Sir Viv Richards
Kevin Keegan
Ian Botham
Stalin
I think we'd find a common theme you'd have Coogan to lighten the mood and you'd get great anecdotes from Sir Viv and Roberto .
I'd like to see a verbal joust between Ali and Hitler i think Hitler would find Ali a little to quick witted .
Steve Coogan is a gamble he's a comic genius but comedians are not normally as funny as their alter Egos .
Stalin because he was just plain Scary i've heard stories of battle hardened generals shaking with fear and wetting themselves whilst waiting to see Stalin .
I'd love to challange Ian Botham to an eating conversation .
I'd like to be reunited with my old Football side that romped to the local under 12's and under13's titles years in a row just to see how the mixed bag of undereducated overskilled boderline genius degenerates have turned out .

I could already see Atlas doing his pre-dinner 'Teddy Atlas Plan'
Saying Scorceses got the reach advanatge, while Malcom would be to smart for the rest but Dundees experience would be a key factor in the dinner.
But he wouldn't count out Marciano has his Susy Q never fails him.
;D
