Evolution is a scientific attempt to explain the origins of our universe according to entirely natural random processes. Any explanation of origins in our universe must automatically exlude the possibility of divine intervention.
However if you believe in God, you no longer are limited to trying to explain the impossible through random chance alone.
Evolutionary theory thus becomes redundant. The universe didn't need to wait 10 billion years before the big bang explosion had finally settled and all the debris had formed into planets handily with their own gravitational systems.
The earth didn't need to be hit by a mysterious disappearing planet around 4 billion years ago which knocked a huge chunk of it out into space to become our moon, another planet didn't need to hit Venus to start spinning it the other way all these things can now be explained as how God made things to be.
Apes didn't have to hang around in trees for a million years before they became intelligent enough to climb down and start walking upright.
So my own belief is that if you belief in God you automatically should no longer believe in evolution.
Imagine saying well yeah I know Michaelangelo existed but I don't think he sculpted David to look that way, I think what he actually did was dropped a huge marble slab out of a high window, then tying a rope around one end he dragged it through the cobbled streets of Venice for 15 years until it started to take a man like apperance.
Then he proceded to throw rocks at it and leave it out in the rain for another 4 years until the features started to become recognisable.
Finally when it looked like David he polished it off and gave it a rub down, stood back and thought to himself, 'Good Job' :P
No he doesn't
Ive given my explanation in the creation v evolutions thread.
Believing that God created everything is pretty limiting, don't ya think?Quote:

so if there are ghosts, there's another dimension, and possibly a heaven and God. No? Possible?
The thing I don't get about ghosts though is that people reprt them doing silly things like driving a remote controlled car!
I mean why would a ghost want to that?
the real question is, do ya believe in the easter bunny or santa claus?
I truly want to believe in a superior being and an afterlife, but what little intelligence I have gets in the way of that - and what kind of creator would just leave you in the dark? One that doesn't know what the fack he/she is doin :-X
I believe there is a Creator. I also believe that the evidence is overwhelming. I believe we have to be brainwashed into NOT believing in God. Every civilization throughout the ages believes in some form of a higher power, and they all have some form of an afterlife. It is only in recent times that people have become "too smart" to believe in God. Supposedly science has evidence, unfortunately the evidence is actually theory which isn't science, it's philosophy. The "scientific" explanations for the orgin of life don't fit the definition for science, they DO fit the definition for religion though.
I don't have a problem with people that don't believe in God. I just have a problem with people that won't accept that they are operating on faith not fact, just as much as any Bible believer. The atheists feel they have more evidence for there religion, and that is not the case. We are all in the faith boat, there is nothing but BELIEF for both sides of the argument.
Have you really done any research to find out how "in the dark" you are, or is this purely your own opinion?Quote:

Is it possible that you are a creature that is only able to perceive 3 dimensions, but that more than 3 dimensions exist?
Are there colors you can't see?
Are there sounds that the human ear can't hear?
My point is that you are very limited in your abilities and making judgements based upon your very limited observations is niave. Most people that claim to be intelligent have no problem believing things they have never verified. They believe that there are other planets in our solar system, they believe that pluto exists, but they have never seen it themselves, they simply read it in a school book or were told by a teacher and they accepted it wholeheartedly never requiring the teacher to provide evidence to them, they simply took there word for it. It's humorous how much of your "intelligence" was acquired this way, but in the case of God, you would require mountains of evidence and a personal visit. When is your trip to pluto scheduled? When were you personally visited by Abe Lincoln, or any other historical figure you "believe" existed. Don't mistake "intelligence" for a conditioned response. You have been PROGRAMED not to believe in a creator, and you want to label it "intelligence". You call it what you want, but here's what the Creator calls it: Foolish
"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God."
Why is every other planet in our solar system not crawling with life like this one. We have life in nearly every square inch of this one, and we can find no evidence of it on others. Even the basic requirements are missing. Why is that? Life is a miracle, and we haven't learned how to create it nor preserve it. We can only copy what we already have.Quote:

I have a degree in biochemistry and a masters degree in chemistry so I like to say that I understand science. I have heard of quantum physics but won't pretend to know anything about it.
Tell me more.
and tell me more about these multi-D beigns. What passages?
It's amazing how much of what we're learnng has already been discovery thousands of years ago.
Edgar Cayce's readings revealed a great deal too. He uttered things that we couldn't possibly comprehend.
Everything you just said can be turned back around on ya though, and while I want to believe in what you're sayingQuote:

As far as pluto lol, Nasa has pretty much proved to me it exists, along with 8 other planets so that argument is a bit inane
I am going to give you some references for you to learn more about it. They are Biblical based teachers, and they present the information and reference it to scripture. If you have a technical mind, you will probably enjoy them. Just warning you that it's from a Christian world view. Anyway the basics are that we live in a 3 dimensional creation. Time, Space, and Matter. Each one of these items are actually finite, not infinite as science once believed. We are only able to think within the confines of these constraints. Time is a part of the creation and therefore a dimension. A multi dimensional creature would be able to enter and exit "time" like we can enter and exit a room. Think of our existence as a piece of paper. If you draw to stick people on the page and they are 1 dimensional they can only percieve things that are on the 1 dimension they are on. You could be above, below and around them, without them ever being able to percieve you. It is really mind boggling stuff. But science real observable testable and demonstratable science has proven these things. We actually are nothing more than DNA, basically dna is information. A string of commands just like a computer program. It is really amazing stuff. Anyway here's the link.Quote:

There is a devil too. The Bible clearly says that the Earth is under control of the devil. You are stuck behind enemy lines, and you are caught in a war. The devil hates God and can't do anything to Him, so he goes for what He loves. You and every other human that was made in the "image" of God. You weren't left in the dark, God spent 2000 years of our time compiling 66 books penned by 40 different authors and has millions of His people walking around with the message that you can be "redeemed" or purchased out of the slave market of sin and death. All you have to do to receive the gift is ask God. You never have to attend church or do any other of the man made requirements. Would it interest you to know that the Book of Revelation is patterned after a hebrew eviction proceeding? The breaking of the seals, the opening of the scroll (title deed) to Earth. It is a legal eviction of a trespasser. Very interesting when you understand what the proceedures mean.Quote:

But if you've NEVER questioned it, you are a sheeple which is worse than being the devil himself (http://www.sheeple.net!)
Also theres so much going on in science, eventually they'll be able to create new hearts from scratch through stemcells, the things you see in the matrix where they hook you up to a machine and have you learn kung fu or how to speak another language, is in the near future. Life extension technology is JUST around the corner and because of religion (not faith) this process is being slowed down dramatically...
With my own 2 eyes I seen a man who was quadriplegic, absolutely helpess but because of a chip connected to his brain he was operating a computer. Just by using his mind, this man fully operated a computer and the majority of people out refuse to believe this exists because they're deadset on an archaic mentality. He started balling because never in his life would he thought to himself, hey I want to get on the copmuter! Well through science he can do just that now. No faith or religion could give that to this poor chap.... And if he lives long enough, he won't need that chip or a wheelchair.
We'll never be gods, but we can get damn close through science and thats where my faith lies at this point - it's real, it's here, it doesn't leave us in the dark... There'll be disasters along the way, but they're worth it
Hell look at the risk we're all at right now with terrorism... all this because someone had to fabricate a book that entailed 72 virgins
Worth it? hell no O0
Angels, demons, fallen angels, unclean spirits, etc.Quote:

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they [were] fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also [is] flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] to them, the same [became] mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown.
Sons of God= Angels, and daughters of men= human women, giants= nephillim, mighty men of old=greek mythology or half gods half men.
I've definitely questioned it. I once held similiar opinions to yours. I think you are blaming God for what should be blamed on the devil. Did you realize names have meanings? Satan means deceiver, or liar. The devil is referenced by several different names in the Bible and each one has a significant meaning. Mainly- liar, deciever, ensnarer, murderer, theif.Quote:

Scientists have pinpointed the gene in the human body that causes the aging process and are doing thier best to manipulate this gene, combine that with being able to create any body part or organ from scratch using stemcells and I have a feeling 100+ years isn't a big deal
Still far fetched because it's not here yet.... but look how far we've already come in 100 years
It can go further
Right, but that is assuming we didn't start out at 900 years. If that were the case, look how far we have regressed. Also stemcells hasn't produced anything. The researcher that provided this groundbreaking evidence admitted he lied. Stemcells so far is nothing but a dream. They talk about potential, that means there is nothing yet. In addition just knowing which gene doesn't have an effect on anything. We know pluto exists, but we can't travel there. That's about how far away science is from doing anything with these genes.Quote:

So you're saying don't try? Thats the archaic mentality we all should fight against, don't try because your complascent with religion? No offense but thats not my fault and I shouldn't have to pay for it
Not saying we shouldn't try. Just saying I am not impressed by what could be. Did you know that in the 1940's they were predicting that by the time 2000 we would all be traveling in flying cars and stuff like that? We have made some advancements, but nothing like the predictions. I think the same will happen with stemcells and dna manipulation. It may help out with some type of disease or situation, but it will never catapult us into being able to avoid death, or extend life beyond the 120yrs we see now. They hype it up so that the public will support huge government tax dollars going to fund it. Basically the companies want the general public to foot the bill for research because they have no real evidence that it will work. If they did, they would keep it secret until they perfected it, then patent it and mass market it. Pfizer didn't ask for public funds to develop "viagra". That's because they knew it would work and they could make a ton of money off it so they invested their own money into it. When private companies aren't willing to invest in something that means they aren't confident in getting a return on their money. That means they don't really have a reason to think it will work yet.Quote:

Almost as fucked up as saying the devil turned my father into a drug addict :)
It not working out would have nothing to do with my faith, I would like to see it work. I just know that the whole reason is for money. Companies don't beg for the government to fund their research if they think it will work.Quote:
