margarito vs. the welterweights
Antonio margarito is considered the most dangerous fighter in boxing. I've heard he just isn't geting the fights becasue most of the boxers in the welterweight division just don't want anything to do with him.
I sure he will get the fights soon if he is as good as people say but is he good enough to compete with the likes of PBF, miguel cotto, ricky hatton and all the other top quality fighters today.

antonio margarito is not even close to being the most dangerous fighter in boxing, thats something that bob arum said a while back to promote his new guy now that pbf severed ties with him (dont forget that it wasnt too long ago that arum said pbf is the best fighter hes seen since ali) and a few people actually bought into it
the only fight that margarito tried to get, and didnt, was against mayweather. after arum made the "boogeyman" statement, a bunch of welterweights went on record and said they would be happy to fight margarito, but for whatever reason he opted to fight clottey instead (possibly to keep the false hype going)
the reason that margarito is having a hard time getting a fight with a big name is that margarito hasnt EVER fought anybody, and recently lost to a guy named daniel santos (a total nobody who also said he would be more than happy to come back down in weight to fight margarito again) not to mention hes lost to a few more nobodies earlier in his career
the whole margarito hype machine has cooled off a great deal recently, and with good reason ;)

Re: margarito vs. the welterweights
In this months isue of boxing monthly, i read margaritos the most dangerous boxer in the world. thats why i mentioned that.

That was a perfect statement, I can tell your a Las Vegas hustler, CC. Beware of El Gamo though, Margarito can do no wrong with him.

Re: margarito vs. the welterweights
I think Margarito needs to stop waiting for Floyd and just start fighting some solid guys, which he's starting to do with Clottey. People that haven't seen much of Clottey are underrating him, I just watched the Baldomir fight which he was on his way to winning until he got stupid and dirty. He's very solid, can counter, solid punch, very sturdy, and rough, which I guess is a nice way of saying dirty.
Santos said he would come down to 147 ??? If you've seen the second Margarito fight I think you'd have to agree that seems pretty unlikely. He cuts weight to make 154 and then comes in at like 168-170 so I don't see him going to 147 any time soon.
-
Re: margarito vs. the welterweights
what about a fight with baldomir.

cc back, bro
and yes, me and el gamo have gone many rounds on this topic (so many, that i think that we may have an unspoken agreement that were gonna leave this issue alone until we see how margarito fares up against clottey, at the very least)

Margarito walked up to PBF during an interview it's caught on tape if havent seen it here it is.
It's short but you can clearly see & hear what happends. PBF uses the $$$$$ as an excuse to not fight Margarito. I sait it before and I'll say it again why did PBF choose to fight Sharmba Mitchelle for his Welterweight debut? ? ? why didn't he fight a REAL Welterweight. There were soooo many names out there he could have fought but he didn't. As usual he took the easy route.

Theres an interview on MaxBoxing not sure if its still there but Sugar Shane Mosley said and I quote 'I am not ready to fight Margarito I need a couple of more fights at Welter then I might face him, but whats PBF excuse?' end of quote.
Carlos Baldomir in an interview shown on tv (Republica Deportiva on the Univision station) and I quote 'Margarito is a good friend of mine we've talked and I explained to him what my plans are I don't plan on fighting him anytime soon, At this moment I'm here to make the best of this oppourtunity that I have tha being fighting PBF for a BIG showdown' end of quote so basically saying hes looking to make the most money he can before his ride is over.
So thats 3 of the top fighters around that clearly turned down a fight with him. Then you have Paul who I personally have began to like in the ring he and Margarito almost have the same style very aggressive and look for the BIG punches. I mean look sat who hes fighting Jacy Kuhn ??? why is Paul fighting him, Margarito couldn't get the BIG fight now but just because of that hes not gonna go fight some nobody. The Paul comes out with his gym war storys now wether its true or not what happend between him and Margarito thats just that a 'gym story' you know how many of those exsist where a reg. boxer comes in and gets the best of an already established fighter. Just send an e-mail to any writer out here in the L.A area and ask him what hes seen or hear. He'll end up sending you a book on that.
Williams is in almost the same boat as Margarito they are both trying to get a BIG name in the ring they both wan't their shot now tell me whos been standing in line the longest & whos been there in the top welters for a minute now? I can assure you if Mragrito fights Paul and beats him we'll end up with the same crap that he got for beating Cintron and Kyvelos. That he fought kids who still were green and over hyped it's the same excuse that people used when Calzaghe beat Lacy.
Anyway, I always end my Margarit posts like this.... Hes never claimed to be the best, all he want's is his chance to fight the best.
-
Re: margarito vs. the welterweights
margariton ain't all that. every since he beat cintron people have been actin like he's the best in the division. he can't stop PBF juduh mosely or dela hoya
-
Re: margarito vs. the welterweights
Margarito is a solid guy but he was clearly out boxed by Santos in their 2nd fight. I feel Margarito deserves a shot at Floyd but he may be left waiting behind moremarketable guys like Cotto, DLH & Mosley. Magarito needs to make fights with the likes of Judah & Collazo to improve his status.
-
Re: margarito vs. the welterweights
Margarito is very much comparable to pre-Calzaghe Lacy... only he has looked more impressive vs. competition. Against Cintron he looked like he had it all, but I still think he is too slow, and has too weak of a defense to hang in there with Mayweather... but I can see him having a very good fights with Hatton, Baldomir, and anyone else around this weightclass who isn't based on speed.

Yeah bro, the thing I hate is folks get on Hattons case for retreating back to 140 after a bad time at 147, but Margaritos fans forget thats exactly what he did after he was out fought by Santos...
-
Re: margarito vs. the welterweights
CC in 24 Mick, pretty much nailed it. I have NEVER said Margarito can do no wrong, but I do want to see him get his shot at the big time, maybe with Mosley?
In relation to the Santos fight,I had him up by 1,he was fighting a guy 170 pounds plus whom whenever he fights,he gets butted(I counted 6 butts),it was just a bad styles match although like I said,Tony looked like he was ahead and he was coming on strong. That's history and the fact is,that was at 154,Margarito is a WW,he bulks up to get to 154. And at WW,he is a force in my opinion.
-
Re: margarito vs. the welterweights
What bothered me about PBF was/is that he was saying no one knows who Margarito is. Bullshiet! We the boxing fans know who he is. Another thing that bothered me is that when Tony confronted PBF at a press conference. Yes Tony went up to his table and asked him why he was ducking him ;) I swear I heard PBF pissing on himself. PBF stuttered and said I am not ducking you. (this is a business) If the fight between Oscar and I does not fall through, I will fight you. PBF went on to stutter some more and was blushing.
I repeat! PBF said he would fight Tony if the De La Hoya deal did not go through. We the boxing fans, already knew that Oscar was not going to fight PBF for several reasons.
PBF es una gallina.

Re: margarito vs. the welterweights
hahahahaah,CC Danny, that is 1 thing I totally agree with,ANYONE can see the apprehensivness in PBF face, his voice etc and look how he looked over his shoulder at the end!! ;D And EVERYONE can make out he says he will fight Tony,so we'll see.CC Mick for yesterday's points.

True. PBF kept looking over his shoulder cus he knew Tony was lurking. PBF looked like he just commited a crime and was hidding from the law or something.
I.. I.. I.. I.. am no.., not du.. du.. ducking you. (piss sound)
PBF wont fight Tony because PBF is phuking scared. All those claims PBF was making about fighting anyone they put in front of him? Guess what? The man went right up to PBF's table and said what up? Here I am biatch boy. Did PBF even stand when Tony came to his table? I think he did not. Gamo do you remember if PBF even had the balls to stand up and face his accuser?

Re: margarito vs. the welterweights
Oh my gosh, that is so fooking true. Look at Floyd at all those those shows he goes on and runs his mouth about Tony has done nothing etc etc yet when the man was in front of him,he wanted to shake his hand!!! LMAO,just thought of that! Your'e so right,he didn't even stand up!!

I think it's called showing class, outside the ring they are people, when things don't have to do with jobs they don't have to disrespect each other and things like that. Actually it was a very classy thing to do Mr bubbletape.

Re: margarito vs. the welterweights
Normally I'd agree with you Maj,but PBF and class? In the same sentence? I don't think so and like I said,he;s been on talk shows and interviews and has said Margarito is a no body,a bum etc fair enough, but at least say it to the man's face! And that was to do with their job.

Ok fair enough that he might of studdered....But hey thats an awkward moment and totally not the Forum to be bringing signing a fight up what did he expect Floyd to whip out his Cross pen and ink the deal there????......Please, PBF said that he would make the fight with Margarito happen so you all need to chill the Fuk out with this Boogeyman Horseshit.....Tell you what what are you gonna say if Clottey takes it to him???? Everyone is fast to taunt us about how Baldomir is gonna beat Floyd and Blah, Blah..What are you PBF fans gonna do when he loses :beat:...I dont want to here the non-sense that Floyd picked Baldomir and avoided Tony....Baldomir has 2 recognizeable top opponents on his resume (Judah, Gatti)...Thats more than we can say about Margarito..
When Floyd Beats Baldomir, Then Oscar, if Margarito is still around late next year than I see this fight happening...I will make a prediction that Tony will live and die at Floyds doorstep till they fight instead of staying active..He hasnt fought in a year already and I bet after the Clottey fight he pisses and Moans about Floyd some more and in the mean time wont fight until Late next year when his fight with Floyd comes off ....By that time Arum will have him hyped him from the Boogeyman to The Terminator:
I am Arums Cyborg Boxer from the Future sent here to..Blow smoke up everyones.......I mean to Terminate Floyd Mayweather jr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fiar enough, you make valid points,Baldo is the champ(even though Floyd has never shown interest in the Ring belt before) and Tony needs to stay more active. You overblow the whole Tony waiting for Floyd when Tony stated clealry,at least a month ago,,that he was moving on from Floyd and was going to stay active. As for Clottey beating Tony, well I'd say Clottey was beating Baldo's ass and Floyd's fighting Baldo so he can't be that bad and second,a NAME does not neccessarily mean they are great fighters,Baldo beat Gatti, but Cintron and few other fighters Tony has beat are much dangerous than Gatti.
And when Paul Williams beats another NAME,then I guess that entitles him to shot at Floyd too?(and who made Mayweather the man at calling all the shots?)
Finally, that boogeyman nonsense is done and suted(even though I never heard it in the first place),and I think it got Tony's name out there, got it's just done, that's all.
-
Re: margarito vs. the welterweights
The 1 thing I will say is that PBF is the most complete fighter I have seen in years and definitely, talent wise,by a fooking mile, the best fighter of this generation, nothing blinds me to that fact. If he was to fight Tony,I'd make Floyd a big favourite, but it's just a fight I really want to see! Forgive me if I beat around the bush with the whole scenario,I just like both fighters alot and want see them get it on but I see where you are coming from,Tony needs more fights, fair enough.

PBF says that fighting Baldomierda is a huge risk.
There is no risk!
Baldo has like 13 ko's out of 60 fights (wow! He is deadly as sin) LMAO
The risk is and will be for a long time against fighters like Hatton, Cotto, Margarito, Paul Williams. PBF's plan is to fight those fighters who are not a threat or a danger to his would be legacy. He is like the school bully who beats up on those he knows he can beat but he leaves the real tough guys alone. He can not fool me but if you are fooled by his hand pickings and believeing that he is taking the most dangerous fighters on, you are wrong.
So what if Baldomierda beat Gatti. Any of the fighters that Baldo or PBF beat for that matter would get mopped by Kostya Tszyu.
BTW doesnt Tata mean grandfather in Spanish?
Cus that is who PBF is fighting El Tata.

It will be funny. I know, I know.

Once Margarito beats someone the stature of Judah or Gatti then you can say Baldomir isn't threat.

So what would it prove if Margarito went after Judah and Gatti? Not a damm thing. One was beat down like a clown by Kostya Tszyu and the other was beat down by an old man with 12 ko's. Margarito would stomp a mud hole in both of them and then punch it dry. Not many people want to fight Margarito. Not even the so called greastest of them all. How do you expect Margarito to get any real fights if he is being ducked? And dont come at me with all this jive about Golden Boys calling out Margarito cus it was just that! JIVE. Even Ishe Smith jumped on that one cus he is a Golden boy. But please....

Listen man Corny as Hell...
Cotto huh??? How many fights has he had at Welter???
Hatton- this is my favorite cause it shows how ignorant you are.....PBF offered to fight Hatton on 2 different occasions in which Hattons camp said they werent ready for Floyd yet...
Paul Williams-Bright prospect.....But like all the Joel Julio nuthuggers who proclaimed he was gonna murder Floyd...Well Quintana outboxed him by a mile and Floyds on a whole different planet than Quintana..Now when you mention Julio's name around here....you can here the crickets outside and a pin drop.
Margarito- Shoot I am tired of rehashing this with you guys.... I'm sorry Floyd wants to fight the TRUE AND UNIVERSALLY RECOGNIZED WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD and make a cool 20million to fight Oscar Delahoya...Instead of 8 million for Margaburrito..Cause I know you being an Einstein and all, routinelly gos to work everyday and is content getting paid less than half for being the best in your particular Business ::**
Floyd will get your boy in the ring next year and I cant wait....

Clottey and Cintron would beat Gatti. ;)
I am downgrading Gatti and yes I have to upgrade Clottey and Cintron.
Sure I would love to see Margarito beat the crap out of Gatti and Judah but do it in the same night. That simple.

Re: margarito vs. the welterweights
And the day will come and that day is near and just around the corner, where PBF is going to have to do 1 of 2 things.
Either..
1.- Step up
or
2.- Retire.
I don't see him stepping up and thus he will retire with out having fought the dangerous fighters out there. The legacy will be (I avoided dangerous fighters/fights to stay undefeated)
If and when and that's the huge if, he decides to step up and fight someone really dangerous, he will lose ;)
Kostya Tszyu is a bigger king than PBF.
Hatton took out a king. Hatton is a bigger king than PBF.
-
Re: margarito vs. the welterweights
Margarito is going to be in trouble one of these days.
Mosley may not give it to him
Cotto MIGHT
De la Hoya would whup his ass
Williams needs to lock his defense up and he's good to go
Baldomir is tough enough to beat him
Floyd would whip him, he's too fast

Scratch that. For giving me the finger I will sad click you ;D oh and I did not even see the post where you called me a jackass. LOL
You can't debate with out trying to get crazy on the net? Like you are tough when you attack posters? You big internet gang banger you ;D Now stay on topic or don't post at all.
Learn to debate with out attacking peoples personal opinions and all will be fine.
It was not me that sad clicked you earlier but I did now. Just goes to show you, that others don't like you internet gangbanging tough guy routine either.
The only ones that sad click me are the PBF nut huggers and the Peter Manscaredo Nut huggers. LOL

Oscar has trouble with a nice fast jab. Just look at what Felix 'The Cat' Sturm did to Goldie. Just think what PBF would do with that advantage.
And Taeth. You don't have to go around insulting me. I have not attacked you personaly.
Have a sad click for not knowing how to debate with out attacking posters opinions.
