well he fought crap that guy was coming on in later rounds i really liked calzaghe but my estimation of him has gone down now really disappointing

same here everyone has a bad day every now and again, a wins win tho, scrappy fight but joe deserved the win, any thoughts on if he fights kess?

im just really disappointed well if he fights like he did tonight kess will beat him if he gets his form back calzaghe wins

Don't over react... I doubt Kessler is that strong and he will box with Calzaghe rather than hold, butt and spoil.

Joe will be a completely different fighter if he fights kess , he always performs against the top guys

yes I mean the world beater Bika is a lot then we gave him credit for but he's not in the league of a Mundine or a Kessler. But I've been hearing so long how Joe was so complete master boxer etc etc etc and had to hear that Calzaghe would knock out Roy and etc and I kept telling everyone when Calzaghe has a next fight against a halfway live guy he will struggle and look ordinary.. no one believed me. I'd love to see him fight Kessler.

After watching Calzaghe tonight, I don't think he could beat woods. He was tough and stood infront of Bika who is a very strong bloke... but he couldn't move him and was definetly weaker in that respect.

If don't have him being better than Woods in the skill deparment and his team would have to work a miracle to move him up and get him strong enough for Woods, who is skilled on the outside and inside and strong on the inside.

people assume that because Calzaghe was able to out box, fight and muscle Jeff Lacy, with his bulked up physique that he would be strong enough to stand with Woods, who's build really denys his strength.

I expect Woods to UD him based off seeing Calzaghe fighting some one is is probably a 175 fighter, granted Calzaghe will gain strength if he moves up, but enough?

Well, there's a fair bit of criticism heading Calzaghe's way tonight, and personally, I think it's somewhat unfair. Much as I hate all the commentator's cliche's it takes two to dance the rumba, or summat like that. Basically, Bika came in in the same manner as Kabary Saleem came in, looking to spoil and to rough Joe up, in the hope to ruffle him, and somehow find a winning punch. At the end of the day, Joe showed a lot of grit battling with Bika, who looks like a proper brawler. I think the cut an early fouling disturbed Calzaghe, and as happened with Saleem, once he feels he's being fouled, he goes in and fould himself. He matched a roughhouse fighter at his own game, and while he didn't do it in a perfect way, as a boxer, he did what he had to do, and took what was, eventually, a comfortable win. It won't convince the critics, except to show he's not just a boxer.

im big calzaghe fan but mate he fought poorley where was all combos he only threw like 5 combos all night bika was stronger calzaghe didnt move him with his punches on other hand bika did move him bika was physically stronger and calzaghe won by about 8 rounds to 4 maybe 9-3 but to be honest not impressive at all im very disappointed

calzaghe wasnt at his best tonight but bika did do abit of cheating. headbutts and a low blow. i didnt like calzaghe showing off. he shouldnt do that. he's a much better fighter than that. hopefully better performance in his next fight

I wonder who still thinks Calzaghe would beat Roy and Hopkins and all that other unneccesary hype they gave him after beating Lacy.

Maybe if they hadn't blown Calzaghe up out of proportion like he was the second coming of Ali, Tyson and Whitaker with Roy Jones mixed in all in prime form then maybe dissapointment wouldnt happen.

He definitely didn't fight the right fight against this guy, but he took the same kind of damage that Beyer did against this chap, and he survived it to go on, continue taking him on at his game rather than boxing, but my point is that Calzaghe showed that he's not just a boxer, but that he can mix it with the street brawlers as well as any of them. I'm not defending his choice not to box, which would have made it much much easier, but in all honesty, he roughed it with a very rough man, and he won. Yeah he didn't combo enough, but he dropped his game to his opponent IMO. And yer I'm a Calzo fan, and I'm not sure that'll waver with this one. And, honestly, you can't tell me it wasn't entertaining.

Did you see RJJ's last appearance? Badi Ajamu was nothing more than a regional fighter who had the chance to grasp a payday with both hands, but even he rocked Roy, and personally, Joe's performance does not cast doubts on him the way RJJ's did upon him.

im not here to be to harsh to joe, but theres some criticism to be given out..
i knew as soon as i saw him trying to look good and mix it up with this kid he was gona hurt his hand and when he threw combo's you couldnt see there was no power cos joe kept holding back because of his injury!!
fair play to joe things certainly werent going great cos bika was a tough cookie who was strong and fought dirty as hell...
but still i wasnt impressed with that fight as i just dont think joe lived up to the motivation he was expected to give to giving a show... he jus didnt find his rythym.
i was going crazy at the commentators, they kept talking crap (itv this is) duke is a tit.
and they kept saying untrue stuff either to patch up something stupid they had said earlier or so that the casual fans that were watchin wouldnt be disapointed or think badly of joe because at the end of the day theyr still there to promote itv boxing and to promote joe calzaghe and make money for itv
if anyone would care to tel me what lennox and the hbo team said about the fight i would be greatful i think they would have been alot more critical...
also who was commentating with lennox? i cant imagine lampley or merchant would have attended the fight?
but one good thing is he won this fight and he better look good in the next one...

This was hardly a surprise was it? Considering all that went on around this fight and what went on before it (lacy) this had anti climax written all over it. I suppose Joe's there to be shot at now and thats the way it goes. He got it totally wrong from the start and never really got it back on track exept for maybe a small period in the middle of the fight. Calzaghe totally fought to the level of his opponant and considring the type of opponant Bika is and the tactics he employs this really wasnt the wisest of moves. Calzaghe came to fight Lacy, I don't remember him leading with his head or clinching every five seconds... I didn't say he shouldn't of fought hard... just that it is very hard to box well against a tough guy who can do that.

If we are simply talking about brawling, Calzaghe got the better of it and that's why he won. ;)

The only people who really knocked Bika where skeptics and brit haters who wanted Joe to sit on his welsh arse waiting for a super fight... anything for them to whinge at.
I expect calzaghe to UD him... but, like I said... he is very strong, in the top 10, rated off his credentials... not hype like a certain other JC opponent, who could argue that he should have gotten Beyers belt and motivated to steel all that JC has ;)
