Calzaghe desperately needs to move up in weight...
He looks weaker and weaker and weaker with every single fight. At the weigh-in, each of Joe's hands looked bigger than his waist! He's been struggling to make 168 for years, but now it's gone too far because he has no strength left.
You could tell it was just pitter-patter stuff tonight, a far cry from the days he was banging harder than heavyweights. In his early career he looked like a really big lad, strong. Now, he just looks weak and skinny, and his punching is getting sloppier with each fight that passes.
Move up to light-heavy FFS.
Re: Calzaghe desperately needs to move up in weight...
I think his performance a few months back contradicts what your saying DD. However I do agree, he would benefit greatly from a move up. I didnt think Bika would be able to out strength him but he did.

Maybe you're right he HAS to move up.
But if he does - whether it's justified or not - he WILL be accused of running from Kessler.
It WILL leave a permanent mark on his legacy (unless Kessler looses soon)
Calzaghe might actually be caught between two chairs here. But it could well cost him the chance of ever reaching anything near real ATG recognition.

man the worst thing he could do is move up in weight!!
his hands are getting worse and worse and if he moves up in wieght 8 out of 10 of the light heavywieghts he would fight have taken much harder punches then joe can dish out, he'll either have to be softly softly or if he tried to impose his power at that wieght he'l hurt his hands and either way he'll get walked through and beaten...
plus theres the factor on how well he builds the muscle and if he really hits well enough without the hand problem to whether he can hurt a light heavy wieght , to be fair hes not a devastating puncher at all
peace

Despite his Popeye muscles, Lacy isn't all that strong really ;) Very short and muscles like that don't usual equal functional strength you can use in teh ring... he just didn't want to be outboxed by the likes of Wright, Taylor and Hopkins etc so went into a weaker division.
He throws a left hook well but that's about it ;)

yeh i agree man!!
have you noticed how they have started talking about two big name fighters recently.. this is body head's opinion
notice how nobody has mentioned winky wright!! he is plenty smart enough to duck winky!!
he knows he wont escape with his titles
bernard hopkins- whats with mentioning his name when hes retired and im sure they have a pretty good idea he wants the wbc heavyweight crown or nothing!!
and jermain... wel fuck knows why they have said jermain...
can calzaghe make middlewieght.. cos jermaine wont come to supermiddle just for joe c!!
i think this is the closest fight theyve mentioned that might happen but most likely wont!!
he might be overlooking jermain like hes an easy win just like bernard did.. could be silly
i think jermain would outbox him...
they were both excellent amatuer boxers and both great undefeated professionals..
only thing is jermain is young and healthy trains hard and will fight the best!!
calzaghe hasnt been tested in his last twenty fights like bad intentions has in his last three!!
and joe is getting on and has injury problems i say taylor outboxes joe c
peace
Re: Calzaghe desperately needs to move up in weight...
His muscles are irelevant as far as Im concerned. If Calzaghe is as weak and fragile as DD suggests then Lacy would have walked through him IMO and he wouldnt have to be superman to do it.
Re: Calzaghe desperately needs to move up in weight...
Just have the defence and foot work to do it... ;)
BHB, I'm talking about why Lacy fights at super middle, and not middle

fair enough that is a good fight but its no superfight!!
he better face a true great before he retires if the best he can do is woods
then he wont have cemented a big enough legacy
peace
Re: Calzaghe desperately needs to move up in weight...
He could fight Woods and Hopkins at light-heavy, be cool..

Kessler could move up in the forseable future.....that is a fight that must happen just to shut up the Kessler fanatics!!
Re: Calzaghe desperately needs to move up in weight...
I hope Calzaghe fights Woods next, then Kessler at 175.
He'd take Kessler out at 175 because he wouldn't be quite so weakened.
Re: Calzaghe desperately needs to move up in weight...
Trinidad, man. Heard these rumours?
Trinidad is a blown-up welterweight and Joe walks around at 200+ FFS.
Re: Calzaghe desperately needs to move up in weight...
bollocks. fight kessler at super middle and unify the division. someone's O has to go.

Absolutely. Beat Kessler, then move on.
