Hell Tommy was a nightmare for any fighter everin his prime he only lost to the absolute elite.....His straight right was one of pure devestation....A freak of nature to be as tall as him and be a welterweight.......At prime in a P4P situation (Cause yhey were never at the same weight in their primes)....Hearns takes Jones apart...Tommy was fast and those long arms with the power he had would keep jones away...Fast enought to catch him strong enough to hurt him....I couldn't see Jones toe to toe fighting him either
Hearns was a nightmare for anyone unless they could manhandle them

Tommy Hearns was one of the most powerful fighters EVER! Daxx is right, he only lost to the likes of SRL and Hagler, who where 2 of the best fighters ever. P4P i would take Hearns. Only thing that makes me cautious is the chin, GOD if only Tommy had the chin!!!!

If you are talking p4p, then maybe, but if you are talking in actual terms, then I don't think so.
Even though Hearns is taller, RJJ is physically bigger & stronger.
RJJ is probably even quicker than Hearns & I think he would be too strong for Tommy.
As said previously, Tommy didn't have the best success against elite fighters (Duran excepted & he was past it) & RJJ was an elite fighter.
I take Roy to KO Tommy in about 8.
duran wasnt past it because had one hell of a fight with barkley in 1989 one of his best performances plus before he lost to hearns he had just lost close decision to hagler and didnt he beat davey moore in 83 ??Quote:

I debated a similiar subject 2 weeks ago with this guy Dennis when he said Tommy Hearns would beat Gerald McClellan....I said no Gotdam way not in this lifetime or the next..I mention the Logistics on the weight and overall physical disadvantage Tommy would be at...Not to mention Gerald had a cast iron chin and Oh by the way is regarded as one of the hardest hitters EVER in Boxing history...Then he used the Duran KO as an example....Yea Woopdy DO!!!!!! lets see a 6 in height disparity reach disadvantage...During the Referees instructions in the middle of the ring it Looked like Rocky was looking up at Drago or a highscool senior staring down a 5th grader in a school yard!!!!! I asked him how the heck was he going to utilize the same strategy seeing that Gerald is an inch taller and had a hell of a reach himself..... ;)

Ive been around steroids and I can tell you roy juiced, he moved up real fast did not put fat weight on like mm, he looked more like a small e holyfield, look at him at hopkins or toney a skiny but cut fighter
If they had ever fought I would pick Roy to win actually.
Hearns' prime was at 147(and potentially 154 if he had stayed)
Roy's prime was the time between 168 and 175. if Hearns had fought Roy at any of those weights he would have been crushed imo.

Well good assesment of Tommy and his resume..The problem is with me at least is comparing fighters that peaked at different weight classes....Roy at Supermiddle, Light Heavy....Tommy Welterweight, Junior Middle, Middleweight....This fight isint even realistic...Roy is physically bigger and stronger than Tommy..Not to mention Faster and Quicker Reflexes..That is a great equalizer and advantage especially when you are already bigger than your opponent... ;)Quote:
