Former junior lightweight and lightweight champion Diego 'Chico' Corrales will seek a third world title in a different weight class under the promotional auspices of Golden Boy Promotions, which has announced the signing of Corrales to a promotional contract. "At this point in my career, it is important that I can go into a fight knowing that the business outside is taken care of," said Corrales. "I wanted to be with a promoter who understands us fighters and who I can be with for the rest of my career. To be part of Golden Boy Promotions feels great. I feel happy, energized, and ready to take on all challenges and make another run at a world championship." Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya stated, "I know that Diego always gives it his best in the ring, and our promise to him is that Golden Boy Promotions will give him our best outside the ring." I am very intrigued with all this and Diego need to fight at a weight that his body is more suited for i...If the Chin is all there than we welcome another stellar fighter to an alreay stacked Division of allstars...I'm thinking Jr Welterweight-Welterweight is probably the greatest its ever been....What do you think

Dont know if Chico could cut it at LWW let alone welter. For all i like his style and heart i just dont think he could get past guys' as strong as Castillo, Cotto, Margarito, Williams, Hatton.......etc, and then the is the welters :o
Ya gotta think that the LWW and WW division's are two, if not Thee, hottest pair of divisions in the game at present!

CC mate,you're welcome. Remember though,Chico will be more comfortable at the weights and think of how rounded etc he would be at the weight,that big frame would look meaty and that power too,I would not count him out.

CC back my man. I totally agree,Diego will suit the weight,remember,he is 6 foot tall,he should be more comfortable and those punches will have more meat on them! I totally agree,147 is the hottest division right now and I'm sure Diego is going there,making 140 would be hard for him too! I would love to see him fight Tony and I actually love Chico too and think he would drop Margarito but Tony comes on srong as the fight goes on and he would wear Chico down and stop him late in a fight of the year contender in my opinion!

If they stay the way they are at the moment no....but you never know how they may change up in the future....Ex fighters as successful as DLH promoting is great in first look and they have been great so far,,,EG as you mentioned even let their own guys fight each other....So far they have looked out for their men lets hope it stays that way

Whoa whoa whoa. Did i just read right. Did Diego (i can't count) Corrales just sign to ODLh's boys. Are we still thinkin the Corrales who let Castillo feel all guilty before turning up to his next fight 5lb over?
Are we still thinkin the Corrales who turned up with no idea what his weight was?
Are we still thinkin the Corrales who failed to make the weight by over 7%?
Are we still thinkin the same corrales who couln't look up without drawing impetuous glances a few months ago?
Are we still thinkin the same Corrales who got his ass whupped?

Corrales will NOT be a contender at welterweight, I couldn't see it possibly. Who could he beat?? He is practically shot, I don't see why this is such a great sign for golden boy.

I disagree,he's fairly young and I wouldn't say he was shot,just extremely weight drained when fighting Joel. He's fairly young but the first fight vs Castillo is pretty much as brutal a war as a fighter can be in, and since then he was brutally KOed in his next fight then beaten again against Casa... Not every fighter is much stronger as they move up, and being meatier and fuller isn't always a good thing, at all... Hatton was meatier and fuller against Collazo. Also how is his punch resistance going to improve, the guy has been KOed at lightweight and has never had a great chin, he won't be able to handle welterweight power at all imo.

VERY GOOD signing for golden boy IMO. He is a good fighter, however if he fights Margarito i see him getting destroyed.

diego coralles is a great fighter but i think he is sailing right between being shot and complacent.
last time he fought was a dissapointment for me. i have been waiting for him to fight then he showed up overweight and unprepared for someone who has inflicted beating on him more than mayweather and castillo.. thats complacency... and for his performance which is not even close to his usual display of firepower, may be a sign of him as being a real 'shot' fighter

i guess anyone who has that credit and can atleast throw a punch must be given a chance
even mike tyson whos over 40 and has been shot 16 years ago was given a chance
maybe even Tony Weeks, the referee of that fight deserves a CC for being in that fight alone

we know everyone deserves a chance but the point is coralles is not a viable fighter anymore like he usually is.. his last fight was even for free. i doubt Golden Boy can market him easily like he was before, maybe oscar is a fan of chico or just compassionate enough or just rich enough to sign everyone and gamble for their fate

You could be right,but then again,you could be just as easily wrong. PBF dropped him 5 times at 130,look how many bombs it took from JLC to drop him first time around! Like I said,with careful management,he could do well. Hatton's only 5foot 6,his frame was not made for WW,Chico is like 6 foot,I still think he can be a force.

No I heard Corrales owes Shaw 1 more match but Prince(Corrales manager)told GBP that Diego was free. GBP representatives said that if Corrales still owes Shaw a match,they won't sign him now.
