Mundine v Lacy for WBA strap!!
;D
no it hasn't been announced but with Kessler upgraded to Super Champion and both Mundine no.2 and Lacy no.3 fighting once more this year it stands to reason. It would make for a good fight if Choc stood and traded but I'd say he will be on his bike for that one.
On the undercard of Calzaghe v Kessler would be the perfect lead up to a rematch or intriguing matchup which ever way you look at it.

Re: Mundine v Lacy for WBA strap!!
Mediocre fighter (Mundine) against an overfighter (Lacy). As much as I dislike mediocre, he does does hold a win over Antwuan Echols. Who's better than anybody overrated has faught, so I guess mediocre wins.
-
Re: Mundine v Lacy for WBA strap!!
I like Mundine. When you consider he began as an Aussie Rules star his counter punching awkward style is highly impressive.
He doesn't have enough of a punch to hurt Lacy but he certainly has the skills to tie him up and frustrate him.
He gave Danny Green a boxing lesson for 12 rounds, I think I scored maybe 2 rounds for Green that entire fight.
He also gave a spirited showing against Mikkel Kessler.
His only real blot was being sparked by Sven Ottke but I feel he's come a long way since then.
Not a good matchup for Jeff this one I don't think.

Re: Mundine v Lacy for WBA strap!!
I pretty much can't stand Mundine.
He's a turd of a human & a fairly dirty fighter...that being said...I think that he's got all the tools to give Lacy a damned hard fight.
Not sure that he could stand up to the power of Lacy though.
If Jeff would iron out his defense issues...I think that he'd be a damned impossible fighter to beat.
Honestly...I'm gonna have to lean towards Mundine pulling out a split decision over Jeff...either that...or the exact opposite (providing that Jeff is back to being Jeff now) & being a moron trying to trade with Lacy & getting blown out.
Mundine by SD.

I gotta say I know even the Aussies hate Mundine but what I've seen of him I really like the guy.
Not a being a fan of Danny Green seeing as he threatened to sue me for putting his fights with Beyer on eBay made me see Mundine as some kind of warrior for justice. Oh how I smiled when he gave Green a beat down!
Since then I've really liked the guy.
I've only seen two of his fights, Green and Kessler but he wasn't dirty at all in either of them as I recall.

Re: Mundine v Lacy for WBA strap!!
Mundine is outspoken, nothing wrong with that. I think he just goes a little overboard sometimes.
I dont see him as dirty. I see him as a poor mans Roy Jones Jr ;)

Poor mans Roy Jones? Maybe Roy Jones the rapper. Or Roy Jones the basketball player. But Roy Jones the boxer, he's far. And I mean far from that. Damn you Mods. Some of the things you guys post boarders on straight stupidity.

mismatch here, mundine destroys this clown with a easy points desicion.
neck up violient demise.

Re: Mundine v Lacy for WBA strap!!
Mundine would win i think, i see it much like the green fight.
-
Re: Mundine v Lacy for WBA strap!!
i think lacy would blast him out. and he would be determined to show a good performance as he would be coming off the calzaghe loss. but then again that added pressure might work against him.

Re: Mundine v Lacy for WBA strap!!
I wonder if you asked the same question 7 months ago, how many people would have picked Mundine. I would say noone.. And I still think Lacy could beat him, but he would need some sort of game plan to say the least.. Mundine definetly couldn't handle his power though imo, and Lacy is a better puncher/fighter than Danny Green.. Though there defence is equally horrible.

I'm not sure that Lacy is any stronger than Green to be honest. Green when he forgets about trying to box and just resorts to brawling is a handful for anyone.
Look what he did to Beyer in their first fight. In the rematch though he tried to box Beyer and came unstuck. He made the same mistake against Mundine as well.
I think that was Lacy's problem against Calzaghe, he just wasn't physical enough, he should have got inside Bika style and really roughed Calzaghe up, instead he allowed himself to be bullied by the weaker Calzaghe.

It is the brand new WBA ranking.

This time it was not about Kessler - just wanted to info you with the new WBA ranking in this thread about Mundine vs. Lacy ;)
Strange that Sam Saliman is rated so high and the same to be said about Tsypko (after his defeat in France) - and who the heck is Dimitri Sartison?
-
Re: Mundine v Lacy for WBA strap!!
Got nothing to do with it Royal. :)
Make a new thread for it then... ;)

Re: Mundine v Lacy for WBA strap!!
As I seen it this fight is not good for Lacy – Mundine is faster than Calzaghe and he has better boxing skills than Lacy. Lacy would outpoint him badly winning 9-10 rounds. The only way Lacy could win this fight is by KO and I do think that Lacy is too slow to KO any top SMW – he hits hard but because he is so slow most top boxers would see what is coming and then you could hit like a mule but with no effect. UD Mundine.

The funniest part of the Royal thing is that Saddo must have reset his Posts when he got to 100 so he couldnt get his dirty little revenge on all of us....
With that being said I think its pretty fair of Saddo and the rest to Give Royal a probationary period of sorts to see if he will behave.....Question is will he do something positive with his opportuniy...
I am pretty Biased for LAcy and I havent seen Mundine fight so I cant really comment but I just want to know definitively who the hell My boys fighting!!!!!! It bothers me cause if he is fighting on the undercard of Winky Wright in Dec, the closer we get to the date the possibility of him fighting anyone good is diminishing as the days go on.. :-\

Fair, but I do think that sometimes we get some "fake Royals" just to make "war" and "action" here on Saddo's - it is so easy to blame it on Royal ;) - that being said I do agree that I have not always been correct on this forum

Yeah well look what lots of people have done to Beyer. Look what Bika probably would have done to him, christ watch him "win" the title from Eric Lucas in the first place... Beyer clearly lost that fight, it was a terrible robbery imo. Lacy would probably KO Beyer, or would have had they fought.

Bika would most likely have lost 8 rounds to 1 or 2. Bika did better against Joe than the four rounds against Beyer.

Yeah well it probably helped Beyer the fact that he didn't actually have to worry about fighting him for that amount of time, and he could rely on a TD to save him after 4 rounds of which he really shouldn't even have been ahead on the cards.. Bika was using his head against Calzaghe to, but he didn't have a ref who would just give him the fight if he felt like it.

Now did you just say that this fight is not good for Lacy and then go and say Lacy would outpoint Mundine badly?...that just came across as strange
Another thing that's strange is Royal's obsession for white guys with tatoos....watch out Dog The Bounty Hunter, Royal The Booty Hunter has you in hs sites!
Danish ARE GREAT....World Domination near....everyone soon speaking like Tonto from Lone Ranger...or Tarzan if you prefer that anaolgy

Re: Mundine v Lacy for WBA strap!!
Also Jeff Lacy is still a good fighter, he'll KO Tsypko and if a Mundine fight happens Jeff would win
-
Re: Mundine v Lacy for WBA strap!!
Mundine was a rugby star not Aussie Rules. Green Vs Lacey would be heaps better to see. Lacy would not be able to catch Mundine. Green is quicker than Lacey. Mundine also has power from his speed. Mundine would win this very convincingly. Green would also beat Lacey fairly convincingly. ;)

Honestly...I'm gonna have to lean towards Mundine pulling out a split decision over Jeff...either that...or the exact opposite (providing that Jeff is back to being Jeff now) & being a moron trying to trade with Lacy & getting blown out.

Dont want to get into a slanging match here but if you met Anthony and spent 30 minutes talking to him i'm sure you would change your whole opinion. He is a gifted athlete who could represent his country in a number of sports. He is a role model to the Aboriginal youth of Australia. His message has always been no drugs, no drinking and no smoking. As for being a dirty fighter, thats just laughable. He is a walking headline because he says what he believes and wont back away from what he believes. From what i've seen of Jeff Lacy, Mundine does to him what he did to Danny Green, a boxing clinic.

I doubt he was faking. After all that bullshit he was talking, the last thing he would want is to be layed out by a feather-fisted like Ottke.

A classic case of under estimating your opponent. Every boxing fan in the world knew the only way to take Ottke's title was to KO him. The Mundine Game plan was to walk right thru him, take him out early and not let it go to the judges. It is a known fact that Mundine did not one mile of roadwork in his prep. He was confident Ottke could not hurt him, what he failed to realise was Ottke was a very experienced, seasoned professional with a great amateur record as well. Mundine's lack of experience with only 10 pro fights and no amateur fights at all, found him out of gas after 9 rounds and Ottke knew it. Mundine had two choices after round 9, try to last another three rounds with Ottke all over him and take a loss and a beating as well or hit the canvas the first time Ottke lands a half decent shot. I firmly believe he chose the latter. Anyone who saw the Soliman fight, two fights earlier, where Mundine was spent after 8 rounds, had Sam had any power at all that fight would have ended the same way.

Weren't you trying to justify to me not too long ago that Mundine was a good fighter on Kessler's resume?
