Alex Arthur v Sergio Palomo - ITV 1, 11.05pm GMT
Evnin All,
Another night of British boxing brings us to Scotland, and to the headliner of the evening at Glasgow's Kelvin Hall.
We got Alex Arthur at 23-1, and a scottish favourite, with an undefeated streak since his solitary defeat in 2003 by TKO to Michael Gomez in 2003. Good to watch, should make for an exciting fight.
Sergio Palomo comes in with a record one better, at 24-0, but hasn't really fought anyone of note so far in his career, while Arthur has accumulated titles at every level from regional up to European.
If anyone's interested, I'll do an RBR, otherwise, it's just me, the TV and margaritas :p

I'd be interested if you wanna do it.
How good is Arthur, world class level? Only seen him once and it was early in his career against a guy that was overmatched.

Aye, I reckon Arthur might do reasonably well at a world level. There are a lot of big names out there in the Super Featherweight division for him, if Frank Warren can make it happen. At the end of the day, you've got to look at whether FW will be willing to let one of his moneyspinners take the risk of losing his sparkle against someone truly world class. He's come on loads in recent fights, and I could see him getting a World title, but FW won't want to lose his meal ticket.

Lol, aye Amir Khan is only making strides on his unbeaten record, instead of actually doing anything interesting. We're waiting on the ringwalk right now, and Jim Rosenthal is making his usual promo for the pre-fight films and features. Let's get it on already, i got a bath waiting before the PBF v Baldomir bout later on. And yes, I have Radox!

Re: Alex Arthur v Sergio Palomo - ITV 1, 11.05pm GMT
OK, his Palomo chappie not looking to nervous, though it seems he thought he was being sent to war in Iraq with the camo gear. The spanish army couldn't afford desert camo. Arthur is hurting my eyes with that white outfit.
Round 1:
A Scot, a Spaniard, and the ref has barely a grasp of wither language. Good start from Palomo. Good shots from angles. Arthur dodges, good right return. Palomo immediately looking to work the body. Good left hooks from Arthur. Palomo looking to come in, and get out quickly. Arthur establishing the jab. Good right uppercut from arthur. Lots of movement from Palomo. Good hooks out of the corner from Palomo. Left hook from Arthur, Palomo countrers. Great left hook drops Palomo, 8 count, and there goes the bell. Palomo stunned in the corner.
10-8 Arthur

Re: Alex Arthur v Sergio Palomo - ITV 1, 11.05pm GMT
Round 2:
Arthur up and ready. Palomo looking for work on the inside, more body shots. Another Arthur left hook stumbles Palomo, and the gloves touch down, another 8 count. Arthur throwing 1-2's looking for the finish. Palomo throwing back body shots. Another good left hook by Arthur. Jab catching Arthur on the way in. Palomo swinging wildly,Arthur jabs through. Right and left hooks catch Paloimo, but he replues. Palomo stuck on the ropes, loking to tie it up as Arthur tees off. Good straight right from Arthur. Arthur warned for pushing off with the bicep. Arthur cruising.
Arthur by 20-17.

Re: Alex Arthur v Sergio Palomo - ITV 1, 11.05pm GMT
Round 3:
I need to pee, so hopefully Arthur makes this a short one. Palomo seems to be running away, and Arthur is much the better fighter. Overhand right well from Arthur, replied by a right from Palomo. Wild left hook catches Arthur. Body shots in the clench from Arthur. Italian ref is splitting them over anything. Good right-left by Arthur. Palomo swinging, but hiutting gloves and arms. Good pair of left hooks from Arthur, to body then head.
Comfortable for Arthur
30-26.

CC for the rd by rd ;)
always said the gomez loss is the best thing that could have happened to Arthur 8)
Palomo is game thouugh and i think he'd have beaten a pre Gomez Arthur... but this improved version is catching most of his shots on his arms 8)

Re: Alex Arthur v Sergio Palomo - ITV 1, 11.05pm GMT
Round 4:
Perhaps Palomo settling a bit after a catastrophic early start. Arthur's jabs are even carrying authority, pushing Palomo back. Good body shots by Palomo, and a left hook to the head catches Arthur, but he's not faed. Coming back with harder punches of his own. Good right catches Palomo lunging in. Palomo's left eye starting to mark up. He's got the skintone of a scotsman, markin so easily. Arthur comfrotable, dropping the guard a little, but still chasing Palomo.
Arthur again. 40-35.

Re: Alex Arthur v Sergio Palomo - ITV 1, 11.05pm GMT
if Arthur is in the shape he claims then he should go all out and blitz him..
What's he waiting for?
Power difference is crazy.
Seen this type of fight before though ;)

Perhaps, Arthur starting to show his guard's dropping a bit htough.
Round 5:
Palomo hitting clear air again and again. Arthur with mor hard shots. Good straights, a right has Palomo on his knees. Palomo on his knees. Arthur knocks him down again with a huge right. Arthur flurry, ref steps in, good night, it was coming for Palomo. The game spaniard did well to last that far. Arthur's big nose is glowing red again, caught a few times, but a very comfortable win for Arthur.

Re: Alex Arthur v Sergio Palomo - ITV 1, 11.05pm GMT
After knocking Palomo down, can't believe Arthur lans over the ropes to talk with Frank Warren. 1:31 of Round 5. Looked very impressive really. Let's see if Warren's promise of a World Title fight in the new year comes off. If it does, could be interesting, as Arthur's size and power at Super Featherweight could cause a few of the champs problems.

Re: Alex Arthur v Sergio Palomo - ITV 1, 11.05pm GMT
yeah just keep him away from Guzman and he'll do fine...
if Harrison gets his act together that would be a great all scottish matchup ;)

Re: Alex Arthur v Sergio Palomo - ITV 1, 11.05pm GMT
Alex Arthur: "I've got a long journey home, so I wanted to get it over quickly. At the moment I'm coming up really quickly in Frank's stable, and I'm right behind Joe Calzaghe and those guys.
"I feel really strong at the weight, and if I wasn't comfortable anbd felt strong, and wouldn't be fighting at the weight if I wasn't. The right hand was a fantastic shot.
"Whenever FW calls up, I'll say yeah Frank"
"The fans here in Glasgow were great, the best fans in the business."
FW said: "It'd be great if we could get it in Edinburgh Castle, i think we could have a world title in the summer."
