Couple surprising things about that, 1) it went to the 12th. :o 2) and Briggs had something left in the tank to get the KO!! :o

Well Wlad is the #1 guy now.....and Wlad would have beaten Briggs had Shannon been man enough to take the fight

One of the worst fights I've ever seen, can't believe I sat through the whole thing. Believe me, it going to the 12th has nothing to do with the conditioning of either man, they were both in terrible condition and stunk the place out thoroughly.. Both were gasping for air in the 2nd round despite having done nothing, that's literally how bad it was.. Sergei is truly just an indication of how bad Brewster was, either guy was ripe for the picking all night, it's like they both just agreed to go through the motions for the most part.. the KO was more just a result of exhaustion by Sergei, although Briggs hit him with a couple of good shots to score the initial KD Lyakovich had nothing left and Briggs very very little.. He was too exhausted to jump on Sergei when he rocked him, Lyakovich showed very poor survival skills.. Just a terrible fight.

Don't let the media fool you Shannon wanted and wants the Wlad fight. He actually wants Samuel Peters!

Oh I'm not fooled which is why I know Briggs will get starched in his next fight either by Wlad or by Sam Peter

Man, I was really hoping that Lyakovich would keep hold of that belt and shut out Briggs. I mean, if he's a boxer doing bum of the month, then I'm not sure he should really be getting a world title fight. Anyhow, I can't believe that he isn't being hailed as the saviour of the Heavyweight division, cmon, there must be a Briggs fan somewhere?

I'm definitely a Briggs fan. We came up in the amateurs together,sparred alot and we are friends to this day!

Not a great fight by any means, both guys looked like they had the weight of the world on them which certainly did not help their stamina...Asthma or not Briggs has got to learn how to breathe, amazing how no one has addressed this issue throughout his carreer...Liakhovich is garbage Briggs did nothing to earn the KO Liachovich just asked to be KO'd and Briggs should have done it much earlier...Lyle is right and Shannon gets wrecked by Wlad unless Shannon fixes his stamina issues...I do like Shannon's chances against Maskaev though I believe that would end quick with a Briggs KO...

I think even if any of that was true or came to fruition... He wasn't really 4 rounds up, the fight was SO bad but still Briggs did win enough rounds, Sergei was up 1 or 2 rounds at the most imo... And even still, the fact that there were 2 KD's by Briggs should have gotten the UD... Even if Sergei wasn't absolutely out.. I don't really understand what you mean at all come to think of it... Lyakovich was out of the ring for a good 30 seconds after the 2nd KD, but even if he wasn't the 12th round was so much more decisive than anythign else in the entire fight I think it still would have won Briggs the decision if it went to the cards.

you may be right but dont forget its a round by round contest a point is a point. He was held on the shoulders by 2 people at ring side and kept from rolling back into the ring. Dont get me wrong.. they both stunk the joint out. Its just an interesting angle based on the rules i think. they should both have there purses withheld for being bums! Briggs looked gassed in the second and had rounds where he threw 5 punches and landed maybe none!! Again what if Sergei WAS ahead by 4 points?????

I don't care if he was ahead by 20 points and was being hand-cuffed to a table to keep from getting back in the ring. The "White Wolf" is no longer champion. And that's not a bad thing. Sad part about it is Briggs being champion is a bad thing.

Ok so apparently lykovich just had a one in a lifetime performance against brewster or brewster just blows really bad, I was rooting for lykovich cause he showed a lot of heart in his brewster fight. God why can't wlad and vitali have been made as one person, we'd have an awesome boxer who could unify and take the other 3 belt holders out within a year, this way we're just left with people that we know can get ktfo on any given night...I want to see wlad get rocked by calvin and pressured just to see if he keeps his composure if he does I'll be sold on him once again

Brewster MADE Lyakhovich look exciting because Brewster is

Boring ass fight!!
But the ending was fun, it seemed like Briggs had 30 lb. weights in each arm he had his hands down throughout the entire fight...

The fight versus Brewster was great, and you can't fake that. Sergei showed tons of heart and tons of stamina in that fight. He was fast, a good boxer and threw combos...

This fight was horrible, both guys were barely throwing punches. Not holding, leaning on each other, the most they did was make facial expressions at each other....

I think Sergei was exhausted, not ko'd. He wouldn't have been able to get back in the ring regardless, and the ref should have stopped it after the first punch when he got up. Sergei didn't do anything but take punches. Briggs won but he didn't do much either. It was really a piss poor performance by both guys...

Briggs finally got that lead right hand off!!! Hopefully he gets a little bit more down in weight he needs to throw morel ike he used to.

Most boring heavyweight fight in years ! Id never watch either fighter again if I could help it !
George Foreman could have beat both these bums from his rocking chair in Houston . wouldn’t even have to make the trip to Arizona . . even Riddick Bowe right now. would have beat either of these chumps. just a shameful night of boxing all around !

The Mayweather fight bored me stiff. never seen such chicken shit run for your life tactics. Mayweather is a snuff queen ! $49 to watch a fucking track meet. Horrible watch.

Nope, it all started with his jab which he didn't throw for most of the fight only occasionally.

Well now that he's champion, he should carry himself like a champion. I can't believe that he's just 34, I mean Lennox was SUPER when he was 34, Heavyweights at this age are still very competitive and if Shannon can make a turnaround with his weight then, I strongly believe he can be the face of the heavyweight division. Got Lucky tonight but hopefully this is a wake up call

Shannon has asthma and according to him thats what sets him back during his fights, hes said he tires out.

The punch that wobbled Lyakovich didn't look too hard. I think it was total exhaustion that did him in. he fell through the ropes on his own. He had nothing left. Strange since neither fighter threw anything of note through 9 rounds. This was a terrible fight with an exciting enexpected finish. The boos were warranted. Like one of the announcers said " The one guy acts like he's scared and the other guy acts like he's glad of it". Classic line.

Nothing stunk about that finish as matter of fact the ref should not have let Sergei continue after the first knockdown he was out and non responsive, look at the video...both guys were pathetic but Briggs hurt Liakhovich with EVERY shot he hit him with, Sergei was shot by the later rounds but Briggs was too busy gasping for air to put anything together...just one look at Sergei's face tells the story he was completely busted up, either Briggs hits that hard now or Sergei is that bad, take your pick...Te expectation were too great for this fight and both guys got drained by the "moment" more than the actually physical activity.....it happens quite often especially in the heavy's...

Funny really, I mean they didn't do shet! for the entire fight but some how they looked liked they had both fought there hearts out for 11 rds. when in reality they were ball room dancing the whole fight..... ;D

Briggs knocked him out with 1 second left. 2:59 of the 12th round.

One of the most dramatic ending to a heavyweight fight I've seen :o Too bad there weren't 11 rounds of that.

Put the 11 rounds of the Brewster fight, with that ending, and you have a perfect Heavyweight fight ;)

....wonder if Lamon wants a shot at Shannon, I would like that fight....or Sam Peter or Wladimir Klitschko.....anything that involves Shannon getting his dreads knocked around so he looks like someone is swinging a mop in the air is good

I dont buy the asthma excuse, they have all types of medications for people to take so that they can control it. It is just an excuse to not get into proper cardio condition.

....sounds to me like Briggs was able to carry his power so late because he wasn't pressed to do anything he was being outboxed then he just hit the guy pretty solid and it was enough to end it.

Sergei seemed pretty tired as well
