Did anyone else see this? Merchant is doing his job asking good questions, and Mayweather gets all huffy and puffy...

.....Mayweather just needs challenge
Are you sure Merchant was asking good intelligent questions? I am no big Mayweather fan,BUT i have seen alot of Merchants interviews, his questions have a lot to do if he likes the boxer or not. I remember him still very clearly him interviewing KT about his KO of Zab. How many times then and after can 1 KNUCKLEHEAD keep calling that fight CONTRAVERSIAL? ;)
True, maybe not a 'good' question at the time.
But it is a question that I would be interested in Mayweather answering. People were booing and leaving the fight. I wonder if that is something that bothers PBF, or he does he not give a crap.
HAHa cheack this one out

Trash talk that bastard Larry Merchant all you want.
Hell, Merchant even ignored me when I went to meet him in person.
But I'll guarantee you more people will miss him when he retires than when Floyd does.
not if PBF goes into announcing...Quote:

larry merchant makes me sleepy with his voice. but no nothing about boxing? i don't think so, and i thought it was a pretty relevant question to be fair.
I like Foreman, he's fun to listen to.
I like Roy too but people don't like it when he talks trash about them as a commentator.....Wlad made fun of him.
Merchant can be an asshole but he's a harmless old man.....he's just grouchy because he has to climb up in the ring after the fights.....Kellerman needs to take over for him ASAP
Floyd is right, he knows a fair bit about boxers but not an awful lot about boxing ;)Quote:

Personally, you shouldn't enter the ring as a Roman Gladiator and then run around it like Duncan Norvell.
floyd wasn't right at all, floyd is full of shite. and larry merchant knowing about boxers but nothing about boxing wasn't even what floyd was implying. mayweather was making out that larry does'nt know what he's talking about and he's always negative when it comes to mayweather. the question was relevant and larry was right. i wouldnt exactly call it an exciting fight.
It was out of context what he said... but I can't disagree with it... ;)
One thing about Merchant is that he hates everybody equally, he shows nobody favortism, he alway's will be a critic to any fighter unlike George Foreman when he had his favorites that could do no wrong and those he did not like who he would never give credit too. Merchant may be a hater but he does not discriminate, he will never stab you in the back he will stab you in the front.
Merchant will be missed more than Floyd, I guarantee that. :)
Merchant does more than you guys think, it's easier said than done to commentate.
Also Merchant isn't above talking trash about HBO showcases. ;D How cool is that!
i agree with you mate . he will always get critisized by the fans becuase they cant face reality. there were too many people on this forum that thought baldo could win but in reality it would bever happenQuote:

in the ring Flyod looks like one of the smartest people i seen in there in along time, but outside of it you ask him a question that hes unsure about he will just insult you, and claim that you know nothing about boxing, and to ask him 'coz only he does. Same as the Youtub link that showed flyod talking to some guy ona sports, show, and he was asking about how flyod was the champ after he only beat gatti who floyd claimd to be a papaer champ, and that hatton ahd beat 'the man in kostya' so surly he was the champ, and why shud hatton have to come to the states ot flight floyf.. bla bla legit question, totaly had floyd shock so he went for the insults:P
I agree with this too. It was funny to see that old bastard get called out. i was wondering when someone was gonna do it intelligently (i can see James Toney just cussing him out)...Merchant's interview questions do depend on whether or not he likes the fighter that he happens to be interviewing and I have heard a number of racist remarks ("...and now Bowe will enter the ring to the sound of tribal drumming, no doubt reminiscent of and a tribute to his African heritage..." - this was a comment by Merchant on Riddick Bowe's entrance music in the second Holyfield fight. The music was Phil Collins 'In the Air Tonight'. Definitely an African tribute song...lol) and somewhat condescending questions in certain interviews. I thought it was great what Floyd Mayweather said. Merchant doesnt know shit about actual boxing. All he knows about is watching boxing and talking shit to make the people who he doesnt agree with or like to look bad. At the same time, his stupid comments and drunkenness can sometimes be highly entertaining, so I dont hate Larry. He's a good part of the show. He just needs to be put in his place sometimes.Quote:

anyone remember the mccullough zaragoza fight when wayne lost and mid interview with merchant and wayne an irish fan stormed the ring and said "you were robbed wayne"
merchant sparked him cold and carried on with the interview hahaahha classic ;D
yeah maybe we should start a thread of stupid things Merchant has said and done...
LOL that's a fantastic idea. I remember during the first Hopkins-Taylor fight he was tearing into bernard the WHOLE time.Quote:

merchant is listed in the official "hall of fame"
to say he knows nothing is complete rubbish.....
if merchant knows nothing about boxing,....then neither does anybody in this forum !!!!
anyway,... the facts stand :
1. the crowd started leaving way before the end.
2. the crowd hissed and boo mayweather.
mayweather had no answer.
in my opinion only 1 person came to fight that night , one guy chased and the other guy ran.
not 1 hard punch landed on baldomir,.... sure he was jabbed to bits, but pbf never mixed it up all night.
dont get me wrong,...... i was up for floyd, i hadaround 500 euros on him that night, but what i seen was poor.
compare it with the undercard matchup with the ghost,... now thats boxing.
i dont think there was 1 person other than floyd that called that match "entertaining"
hope he retires soon, ive lost a lot of respect for the "p4p champ".
if he does only have 1 more fight, it will be against somebody easy... another 1-sided matchuo to keep his record in tact.
such a shame that the golden weight bracket holds such amazing names and fighters, and they never meet each other.
if floyd dosent care for the money then lets see him match up with a reasonable fighter, no excuses.
Merchant decked a fan in the ring? ???Quote:

Although Lampley does make the fights exciting sometimes, he is the one who really doesn't know anything about boxing.
Someone had to say it.
I think Jim Lampley is ok. Steward is good because you know he knows his shit. He's like the Yoda of boxing now that Cus D'mato is dead and Angelo Dundee and Eddie Futch are about two steps from being dead. Max K, he is kinda annoying sometimes; i dont know about him. I like it when Roy Jones comments because i think he's funny. Merchant is entertaining just cuz he gets people riled up and he says some stupid drunken shit sometimes that is good for a laugh. Otherwise he's pretty much a dick. I would say James Toney would be an entertaining commentator but he's kinda hard to understand sometimes. And in his case i dont think it has much to do with being hit. I just dont think he knows how to talk too articulately. He's a character though, i love that dude.
Merchant was asking question we all want to know. Oscar Delahoya said the same thing recently. He said he wants to be in the top ten p4p again, and Oscar then added, but he will not get in the top ten p4p by fighting guys like Baldomir and Gatti. The truth comes out by a true legend of the sport who fought them all. When Hearns and Leonard or Delahoya came out years ago starting their careers I thought, how good are these guys they have not fought anyone. But then they proved it by fighting everyone. Hearns record is a whos who of the 70s and 80s welts to middleweights and even lightheavys. Oscar fought everyone from 135 to 160. instead of getting mad at an old man in Merchant, Floyd should get to fighting great fighters. Merchant was correct to challenge him.
I'm not bashing on Floyd anymore.
Truth is Mayweather would prefer to fight more on the inside, However his hands are really fucked from my understanding , Floyd had to move more in the Baldo fight because of the intense pain early in the fight. the talk of retirement has more to do with his hands than anything else. I can totally understand where he is coming from. when watching the fight you can see openings he didn’t take because it would hurt him more to land a punch then it would Baldo to take it. what’s he going to do? if you got bad hands you got bad hands. I am all for him retiring if he can't perform to the best of his ability. And I respect him for it ! O0
nice one. . . i find PBF a little uptight and teste, but as a boxing fan that doesn't bother me. so long as he is sweet in the ring, as a great boxer, i'll be happy to see him take out the competition and become a true great.Quote:
