Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
Well people...the odds have been defied, the losses pushed to the wayside, & the comeback has been jumpstarted...as we...the glorious members of the forum prepare for yet another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds.
This weekened on the block we got two heads fresh for the choppin...question is:
Which one rolls first?!?!?
Certainly not Wlad's, correct?
Brock's neck has to be the one on the chopping block, right?
The baskets just down below waiting to be filled...but there is doubt amongst our ranks. There are those of us that believe this might be the upset of upsets...right? Right.
So let's discuss & compare some surface issues.
Calvin Brock
Brock's Record & Accomplishments:
First things first...let's get this out of the way & move on...because either way you look at this...whether it's different, neat, odd, or wacko...well...this one statement says it all: "Before I ever thought of becoming a boxer, I wanted to tap dance. It's harder work, more than people think. I sweat and train just as much as when I box. It strengthens my calf muscles, makes me lighter on my feet, and controls my weight."
Oh my. Anywho, let's get away from being the tapping banker...& just get down to the boxer.
Brock has amassed a fairly decent record. He's beaten quite a few journeymen & he's trounced a highly regarded prospect along the way.
Back in February of this year on the Fernando Vargas-Mosley PPV undercard he made his statement by knocking out lightly regarded Zuri Lawrence with a thudding left hook that most observers thought had pretty much killed the man or atleast sent him to coma-ville.
Brock's been boxing since the age of 12 & has compiled a pretty nice amatuer record of 147-38. Brock left boxing by the wayside for a bit to hone his skills as an accountant as he worked his pa-tookas off to become a graduate from Charlotte University. He did so with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and started working for Bank of America.
That didn't last too long as he jumped aboard the 2000 U.S. Olympic Team. Brock didn't do to well in the try outs & to my knowledge he never made it past either the first or the second rounds in the Sydney tournament.
For what ever the reason...it makes no damned difference now. After fighting through a string of journeymen, woulda coulda shoulda beens...Brock's back on top...tip top. He's standing on the highest peak awaiting to either put up a flag on the mountain that he's conquered...or quite simply...he's about to get knocked off the peak with no cam or supply line.
Trust you me people...I seen a lot of rock climbing flicks in me day...& it'll be a looooooong fall to the bottom. Painful too.
Brock's at an impass. It's win or lose for real this time...& it's gotta be win win for him. He's facing Wlad Klitschko for Christmas sake & due to popular concensus...Wlad is the man to beat. No offense to Brock or God Almighty...but they'd better start praying, IWO.
As a pro Brock's had plenty of knock outs...five of them in the first round...but the other have been some hard fought tustles & he just made the right pitch. I honestly don't see Wlad being the catcher for that glorious pitch.
If Brock wants to beat Wlad...he's gonna have to wear him down & hit him hard. Take him long like Purity & Brewster did. Take the punches, led Wlad gas out, & then strike hard.
That's the plan...but I doubt that Brock has the chin to take Wlad's jab even.
Many people, Brock fans & Klit haters, are hopking for a repeat of his February 25, 2006 bout. That's the one in which Brock fought on the Fernando Vargas-Shane Mosley PPV show & utterly destroyed poor Zuri Lawrence with that vicious counter hook in the 6th. I spoke of it above.
By HBO's admittance it came at the 2:58 mark of round six (TKO 6).
Straight outta their mouths was this comment: "The ferocity of the blow stunned spectators as Lawrence frighteningly sagged to the canvas and remained there receiving medical attention for several minutes. It was the first time in his career that Lawrence has been stopped. The impressive victory left many at ringside believing that Brock is the best of the young heavyweights vying for a world title opportunity."
That S*** aint gonna happen against this man...
Wladimir Klitschko
Record & Accomplishments:
From heir apparent to the next big bust to the come back kid...can he become the once vanquished king?
Sure as S*** seems like it!
As far as "come backs" go...it don't get much better than this.
Many wrote the Purity loss off as a fluke...no biggie...things happen along the way. Most boxing fans are a bit cruel...but they let that one slide...then came the devastating knockout from Sanders...then a bad shot with Williamson that Wlad just eeked out...then the shocker to Brewster. Since all that bad blood flowed down the river...Wlad got written off as a has been.
Some even said less. His biggest supporter, Larry Merchant, turned on him faster than a ho' turns tricks for crack rock...but loe' & behold...Wlad goes & does something no one expects...he calls out the biggest puncher of the division & the next big sensation: Sam "the Nigerian Nightmare" Peter.
He calls him out...takes everything that he has to offer...& he beats him!
Chalk that up as one career reborn!
But oh no...Wlad doesn't stop there...he goes to Mannheim, Germany on April 22, 2006 to take on the #1 IBO strap holder Chris Byrd & totally demolishes Byrd (for all his skills) & knocks him out, raising himself, once again to the top of the pile.
In the end...it's taken Wlad just 3-4 fights to prove that he's the number one man on board & that his ship is not to be sank so easily.
Many haters dub Klitschko as having no heart & even less chin...this could not be further from the truth. Wlad's issue have all arisen from his stamina...the fact that he generally comes outta the stall like a race horse seems to hinder his best abilities...& believe me...at 200+lbs...there are not better abilities, not even from the great James Toney.
Wlad has a jab that fires like a piston in a well oiled machine that cranks out nothing but power & pain for the duration of his matches. I see this one being no different.
That being said...this finally brings us to Wackster's Factors of the Fight:
Factors for & against Wlad:
#1: Power. This goes to Wlad. Brock can crack...but Wlad drops bombs. Brock get's TKO'd around the 8th...& that's a stretch.
#2: Stamina. Edge to Brock. If the great Manny hasn't worked magic here...we could see a repeat of the Brewster fight.
#3: Abilities. Wlad is the much more superior boxer...hands down. Wlad's got this one in the bag.
#4: Gameplan. Again...Wlad has this one in the bag. Given the opportunity...he out thought & outskilled one of the more tactical heavies in the game when he defeated Byrd. Brock will be no different.
Factors for & against Brock:
#1: Power. Come the fwock on. This is Wlad wer'e talking about. Sure Brock has power...but it's gonna be negated by Wlad's jab & soon there after Brock will be counting lightbulbs as Wlad hammers him with one of those vicious steel hammer hooks of his.
#2: Stamina. Edge to Brock here. If he can go the distance...Wlad will most suredly gas out & leave an opening.
#3: Abilities. Please...don't even get me started. Klitschko nails this one.
#4: Gameplan. Clearly agianst Brock. Brock loves to trade...this will be his downfall. If he could tie Wlad up a bit & use his mass against him...he might have a shot...but he won't & he'll be on the end of Wlad's fist all night long. Brock needs a bit more diversity to beat Klitschko.
IWO...Klitschko is the much more superior athelete & will pull a TKO late.
All that being said...break out the shot glasses & pour your poison of choice.
Cheers & koneecheewah bitches. Let's get this S*** crankin!!!

Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
Fuckin shame Rahman didn't beat Maskaev Shelly Finkle said they had him scheduled for this bout!!!
Wlad by a barrage of power punches that knock Brock the fuck out in the 3rd

I expect Brock to do a little better than you guys are giving him credit for. He does have a huge amateur background (something like 245 amateur bouts) plus has excellent KO power. I have never been too impressed with Klitschko, although he did look good against Chris Byrd recently. He should have been fighting Byrd's wife, it probably would have been more competitive. I see either a UD for Klitschko or an upset KO win for Brock coming in the later rounds after Wlad tires out. Ive never seen Brock really tested before though so this will be a good indication of how good he really is...

Lyle...What do you and Starr have a little something something going on here??? Whats up with the offline status and then weazeling in your posts??? :nono: LOL!!
Anywho...Wlad has to keep the jab moving and that phenom of a hook sneaking behind it and he will bust Brock up....I am not high on Klit at all till he proves he is not spooked(The mere mention off Sanders has Wlad Shittin still) Wacks you bring up a good point that he is chinny from stamina..I agree no ones chin can stand up to fatigue...like you wanted to see Floyd in a scrape I want to see Wlad in a slug fest both giving and recieving to see how rugged the giant is....
Brock looked lackluster to me against Lawrence leading up to the KO and was stinking it up against Timor Ibragimov...But lets see if he can chop Wlad down...
There is tiny part of me that feels Wlad will get tired and catch one....I'm not a fan of either man but I hate on none of them either..I just hope if Wlad is the Man at Heavy and he makes us erase all the past by spanking Brock or putting on a good tactical display...
If Brock wins by Ko it will really be no suprise because its been done by lesser men.....But would screw the division up further since he would probably lose the belt after 1 defense..Being a Heavyweight champ is a friggin revolving door these days... :coolclick: for the review Wacks

Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
CC Wack, great analysis as per usual, would ecpect nothing less. However,I only have one fight on my mind at the moment and that is Pacman Morales!! It's going to be my greatest fight ever"!!! Oh,I'm not too keen on either guy but for the stability of the division,I hope Klitschko wins. Maskaev KTFO them all out! ;D
-
Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
cc wacko...I think Klit is just to much for Brock. Brock's only chance is to hope Wlad gasses late in the fight so he can get a KO. But Im not seeing that happening, I think Manny will have Wlad well prepared and able to go the distance if neccessary. Wlad by KO 8th round.
-
Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
eh.. I did my first year of college in Charlotte where Brock is from and he has a good following there and trained with a fighter at the YMCA(no jokes please) and he was trained by
people close to Brock and knew Brock's father.
Calvin Brock is a fighter I want to see excel. But his stance leaves him so open to right hands when he tries to jab. Brock has heart, he showed it against McCline. But SH isn't going to give him any chances because once inside SH will tie up. And unless Jay "Stop it, you stop it Jay" Nady is the ref, I don't see Brock winning.
He'll become a better fighter, but as the champs go I would have wanted him to fight someone like Maskaev first.
SH will win the fight but Brock will win a few fans. Score Calvin an A for heart score SH an A+ for technique and score SH the fight.
-
Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
Wlad will have no need to hold on to Brock.....and BESIDES Brock is the one who likes to lean on people. Zuri Lawrence, Cliff Ettienne....Calvin was leaning all over those fools.
Wlad is going to blast Brock....I like Calvin, I wish him the best but he just reminds me too much of another NC native.....James Smith. Not great at anything but good at everything....too bad he's not good enough.
Brock-Rahman, Maskaev, Valuev, Peter, Briggs....he has a shot vs anyone not named Klitschko!
-
Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
Despite all the factors pointing towards a Klitschko win, Calvin Brock is one fighter that I do quite like, despite his snoozer last time out. It's good to see someone with a bit of character, an interesting personality, and not obsessed with the machismo that is prevalent in boxing. I want him to win, in the same way that I wanted Baldomir to win, but in reality, I have my doubts if it can happen. Anywho, I'll be logging come 3am or whatever it is that the fight is on, being very drunk, and very opinionated, and hopefully, hearing all about a cracking fight!

Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
Jab...Jab...Jab...RIGHT HAND..........Wlad by KO in 4.

Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
Well as I've said many time Wacko your fight logic baffles me at times.
You thought Toney vs Peter would be a mismatch in favour in of Toney, you though Baldimor would push Mayweather hard for 12 rounds. I could never see that logic, a fat out of condition nearing 40 yrs old fighter would wipe the floor with a much bigger stronger, hungry fighter with one punch KO power whilst the undisputed p4p number one in the sport, always in shape and at the prime of his career would struggle against an old, slow journeyman fighter.
Now you seem to be showing signs of weird logic again, this time the skilled fighter, Klitschko, has a proven glass jaw, stamina problems and a track record of folding when the going gets tough, and he is fighting an unbeaten, confident, solid all round fighter and you think he will beat Brock down. :-\
I know better than to disagree with you because your pre fight anyalsis is always much better than mine.
I will however pop up on Sunday afternoon to remind you how wrong you were and expect a reluctanct :coolclick: for my steadfast belief and bold proclamation that Brock will TKO Wlad in the late rounds. ;D
Wlad cannot handle intense pressure. If Brock can survive the early rounds, and not get overawed his time in the fight will come. If he can land and wobble Wlad he has a chance to end it there and then.
As all the heavyweights currently seem to like playing pass the parcel with these belts I expect another shock transfer next weekend.......
-
Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
Wlad can't handle "intense pressure".....what Calvin Brock have you been watching???
If Brock survives the early rounds it's because Wlad hasn't unloaded the power punches yet.

! Wlad will rip this kid in 3 rounds ! much rather see Wlad -vs-Peter II or Wlad -vs- Holyfield. Wlad -vs-Tua. Wlad -vs- Chazz Witherspoon ..just not a very deep divison ! Truth be told it sucks ass ! :D

Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
You should change your name to "I take anything Wacko says & totally blows it out of proportion".

Opinions do not always equate to logic. One has opinions that he juggles & discusses amongst friends & comes to conclusions...logic is generally written in stone...my opinions fluctuate...& they sure as shat aren't written in stone.

Wrong. Said that he'd give him a tuff fight...never said he had one punch KO power & you babe...are wrong. I said that my guy would win...but I wanted to see him tested.

Disucssions...opinions...again do not equate to Logic. Logic is decided...my opinions are not.
Klitschko does not have a glass jaw. He's been KO'd only once legitamately. I have followed both brothers well. You need to do some studying. Stamina is the main problem...lack of energy does not equal weak chin.
Brock is not solid all the way around. Seen him in person & talked to him in person & via interview.
When a man tells you that he has things that he needs to work on...that...again...don't equate to well rounded.

Disagreeing makes good discussion...but my opinions are not logic...& just because what I say is not what you say...doesn't make it any better than your thoughts.
Don't say things like that. Please. Seriously.

You can remind me all you want...seriously...if he wins...I'll be proud of him. I like Brock...but he's too limited to be taking this step up. In the event that they are mopping Brock off of the canvas & into a bucket by about the 8th round...you won't hear me chuckling over your bold proclamation...really.

Wlad can handle pressure...you just need to see more fights of his.
He does quite well.
Watch Brock's fights...more of them...got almost all of them & seen him first hand...he's not a pressure fighter. He takes punishment to gain openings...that aint gonna work against a man that is twice the athelete & twice the puncher.

I'll certainly take your cc for a week bet. :P

Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
Brock will crumble under Klitschk
Klitchkos far superior power will be way too much for Brock.
As soon as Klitschko finds his range and unloads it's over and over early.
Not really alot to discuss about this one really ;D
the big fella inside 5 by KO O0
-
Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
I picked WLAD by KO. If Wlad does not KO Brock then he will lose alot of fans and the HW division will be in again the sad slump state that it has been in, But if Wlad KO's Brock in devistating fashion then it will make waves. the worst thing we can do is have a boring decision for Wlad or even worse for Brock. Man if Brock wins by a boring decision then he mine as well start tap dancing to make up for the boredom.
-
Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
I favor Wlad in this one, but this is a much closer matchup than Mayweather/Baldy. The skill difference isn't as large, and I don't care what anyone else says, Wlad has a glass jaw. I've been on record as pulling for Baldy and HOPED he might have the power to KO Floyd. I KNOW Brock can KO Wlad. He has great power in both hands. It's not like Wlad has skills like Holmes or Ali. Please. He's the best in the division right now, but let's not make him into something that he isn't. Brock has more skills than Sam Peter, that's for sure. I think people think this is going to be a replay of Peter/Klit. Maybe, but Brock has a better chance to land the big one than Peter did.

Hillarious. Byrd's a hell of a fighter...he just can't punch. Unfortunately...a lot of boxing fans base everything on knockouts...& that's a crying shame...but it is what it is.
Either way...I'm sticking to my theory that Klit stops him & in grand fashion!

Go back through some of his older fights babe. He's gone toe to toe & hammered it out. Sanders caught him cold & he caught him hard. Many either don't know or won't admit it...but Sanders was one of the heaviest handed natural punchers above 200lbs.
Now? He's a total waste of talent.

Agreed. He comes in like that...he's fwocked. To me Brock get's a bit amatuerish at times & often fights down to his opponents level. Timor & his bro are highly overratted IWO.

Agreed. He sparks Brock out...I'm thrilled. Highly doubt he gasses out again though...Manny has supposedly helped him on that one.

If Brock KO's Wlad...it'll be a HUGE upset. Wlad has not been done in by a lesser man. I hate to disagree...but you need to back pedal & research the one man that has actually knocked him out...& I aint talkin about Brewster.
Brock is no joke...really...but he's just a bit to well rounded & not polished in one power.

Agreed. But Wlad could make the division great if he were the kingpin. He seems to have the desire to face the better fighters so far.

I don't think so. He won't lose fans unless he get's sparked & I doubt that happens.
I think a good 12'r is what Wlad needs to prove that he's back in the game...but that stoppage would ring oh so sweet in the doubters ears.
Brock is highly regarded...& stopping him would indeed make waves in the division.

Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
Wacko I just figured Brock-Rahman would be good because Calvin will need someone to LEAD him in the fight....he's no good as pressing the action he is sort of like Monte Barrett he needs someone to come after him so he can react.....McCline came after him and he fought great
Here's the full card
Wladimir Klitschko V Calvin Brock
Kevin Kelley V Manuel Medina
Laila Ali V Shelley Burton
Francisco Figueroa V Joey Rios
Derrick Rossy V Shannon Miller
Andy Lee V Dennis Sharpe
Denys Lozada V Reggie LaCrete

Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
....oh and when I say Calvin needs someone to lead the fight, this SOMEONE needs to not have the power of Wladimir Klitschko.
Rahman
Maskaev
Peter
They all like to mix it up but their power is not like Wlad's....they are either less powerful or less accurate

Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
The 7rd demolishing of byrd was exactly what i was hoping for. I still say wlad is the club over the division and since there's no one better yet i'll continue to stick with my prediction of an 8th rd tko for wlad. (calling him wlad cause lyle gets offended by clinchko).
-
Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
I don't get offended I just think it's stupid....call him whatever you want, he's a winner and he's the best in the division.

Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
Is this fight Saturday night on HBO or what? I hope Brock can pull it off...I think a lot of people are on Wlad's nutsack and I dont really see why. He's nothing special.

Such is the state of the Heavyweight division.

Let's get [/b] this S*** crankin!!!
Excellent write-up mate ! ;) Cool Click # 2292! ;)

Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
Wlad doesn't ALWAYS gas out....the 2 times he did he threw a hell of a lot of punches and moved around alot.
VS Brock Wlad will have to move or clinch because CALVIN wants to fight on the inside because of the reach and height disadvantage.
Brock will lean in on Wlad and if Wlad lets that happen A) it's bad, B) it'll make for a more boring fight and C) he should turn Brock and jab out.
I think the right cross ends any of Calvin's dillusions of winning pretty early on. Brock's chin has been tested by JAMEEL MCCLINE that's not a very good test in my opinion....sure he knocked down Briggs at the height of his career but those are basically flash knockdowns because the guys hop right back up and ALSO McCline didn't come CLOSE to hurting Wlad.
But I digress I will let you give the stamina edge to Brock but Wlad will prove you wrong....he went the distance with Sam Peter who brought more of a fight than Brock will

Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
I hope we get a clean fight from Wlad this time. I think he has enough to win it on skills alone. If he starts that hugging and kissing, I hope he gets KTFO.
-
Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
If he does any clinching it's because just like Sam Peter, Calvin brock is going to try and get on the inside and get his shots off.
I think Wlad gets too much shit for clinching but I think he should do more Lennox Lewis moves and also push away some as well, especially against a smaller fighter.
I understand where you're coming from Bx Wlad didn't use to fight this way....he doesn't use the hook much anymore either unless it's just off the jab and then he doesn't sit down on it.
But anyways he did use to be a lot more exciting.....but just like you shouldn't hate PBF for "boxing" you shouldn't hate on Wlad for doing what it takes to win.

I agree, and its not just his stance, he has an odd habit of tilting his head towards his right shoulder and at the same time not keeping the left up. He just looks open for a right hand.
-
Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
I don't think Brock moves all that well either....he doesn't look like a tap dancer in there he looks like he is more comfortable flat footed which won't help him vs any good athletes

Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
Klitch hit's so f*cking hard that Brock licks the canvas within 5.
Just too strong 8)

Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
...as I said before, the 1st right hand that lands will put Brock on his ass.

He is nothing special hes just the club until a legit champion shows up.
-
Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
"The Club"....yeah as in he's going to make Brock look like he got beat with one!
He plans to unify...I guess you blame WLADIMIR for Don King trying to protect his guys.
Shelly Finkle
King yells: ‘Klitschko is AFRAID to fight Valuev!' I'm standing right behind him and I say quietly: ‘Don, there is a lot of press right here, why don't we just make a deal and announce it right now.' But he said: ‘Uhhh... well... ummm... no.' So at this point, his fighters (Nicolai Valuev and Serguei Lyakhovich) can't beat Wladimir and I think he knows it.

Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Klitschko vs Brock
...apparently SOME people think Wlad is a less hairy version of Nicolay Valuev or a bigger John Ruiz and nothing could be further from the truth

Are you in fact trying to suggest that Wlad actually wears a skin coloured body suit so that he appears less hairy than Valuev, when in fact he is like a grizzly bear with a human face? And probably no claws (we can't see under the gloves).
