i think its gotta be peter
Povetkin
are we on about all time or current ??
I think, judging from those options, current.Quote:

Yeah, I'm going with Sam Peter too. He did enough to win last time out, whatever the haters say, and Brock sounds like he had his arse handed to him last night, so IMO it's a bit of a no-brainer.
I think Peter can clean out the division.
of all time
jimmy young
jerry quarry
earnie shavers
razor ruddock
now sam peter thats about it :-\
Hah. Haters, for what.. having eyes? Don't be ridiculous, Peter did not do "enough to win", he did enough to let the real haters come out and start saying he won though, apparently.. It's boxing, nobody who knows the sport should have had that fight scored for Peter.. He won at most 3 or 4 rounds, even 5.. and then add the point deduction... And you still thought he won? It doesn't make someone a hater to see the BS in a decision like that.Quote:

It was Toney that was rocked the most, he who was struggling to stay upright at times, and survive Peter's bigger shots. There's more to boxing than just connecting, there's got to be something behind punches too, and Toney just didn't have anything there that could truly hurt Peter IMO.Quote:

I would say some attention should be paid to Alexander Dimitrenko, he's young, he's undefeated, and he's fighting often.
Sam Peter needs to learn how to set up his power punches
James Toney needs Evander Holyfield to train him and drop that fat off of him!!!
Others to consider
Chris Byrd - he's older, doesn't move as well but he's still good
Lamon Brewster - hasn't fought for a long time but he's still a good fighter
John Ruiz - ugly as sin but still tough because of his ugly style
Ruslan Chagaev - a relative unknown (Ruslan-Peter would be AWESOME!!!)
So what your saying Lyle theres not much hope, I agree cc
...I'll just say it makes it interesting.
It's competitive on that level...the guys fighting for title shots...they have close fights
Peter-Toney
Austin-S. Ibragimov
I'm sure Ruiz and Chagaev will have a close one too.
In all honesty I think if given the chance Wlad would dominate the division
i say toney by a mile....
toney beat peter...
peter has had a shot at vlad.. but was genuinely unsuccesful and couldnt take the win...
whilst james on the other hand has had two shots... one a draw.. which i felt he won..
the second he won blatantly but the title was given back to ruiz because he failed a drugs test...
then he won the bout with peter... but it was a bad decision!
toney is gona be the champ sooner or later..
and in my opinion i believe that apart from toney there is only one other fighter that compares and that is vlad.. its a toss up between vlad and toney imo and i still would like toney's chances against vlad.. toney will fight them all if thats what they want...
but at the same time if toney and vlad never come together at any point there is noone in the division that can stop either of them.. vlad and james will tear through the division untill its just the two of them left...
and then again vlad might decide enough is enough in the coming years and retire on top...
while toney will probably still be this good in ten years time.. im not even joking even though it sounds rediculous... lol
there is no match for toney when it comes to natural skill that he was born with...
long after the current contenders and champions loose the power and youth that brought them to their peaks james toney will still own god given awesome skill!.. i truely beleieve that lol
Peace
James Toney will be fucking 48 in 10 years!!!
Wlad won't retire until he holds all the belts unless he's very badly injured some how
James Toney has skill but the older he has gotten the more lazy and boring he has become...he lays on the ropes he waits to counter and he doesn't have the pop needed to drop the big boys.....Toney has become the PBF of the heavyweights!!!
I rate James Toney as probably one of the best nonnatural heavyweights since Ezzard Charles but he had his 1 shot....making it to another title shot will be VERY difficult especially considering he can't fight for the WBA belt yet due to the suspension because of the drug test.
and if Wladimir and James Toney ever fought Wladimir would squish him like a fat little bug!
haha hell no lyle ... thats crazy talk ,Quote:

exactly..lol
but point bieng.. yes i know that james is 47 or 48 in ten years time.. and i dont beleieve he has become lazy atall, toney has never been lazy he used to weigh around 220 in his high school football days and hes been struggling to make weight his whole life...
i mean its crazy unfortunate that james has let him self go to an extent but i beleive that james is on the right track back to the top and he looked better last fight round and he'll keep looking better and better..
hes not as exciting as he once was but that is his weight... or not so much weight but just his size holding him back.. he still has the stamina... most of the handspeed if he were to get in better shape he could have the footspeed again!
i see the two best out there without a doubt as vlad and james...
i will not allow eithers chances dismissed as both are such great fighters...
i think the outcome is a sd or ud in a very complex fight... i wouldnt think it would be a bad decision..
i definately think it would be a hard decision to call ... probably some tough rounds depending on who your watching closer in the fight..
but as i say all this.. alot of it would depend on james's shape and how his camp has gone etc..
i mean theres a few good things going on for james...
i hear hes either looking into or actually working with a nutritionist,
hes got a film role or two on the way which he will need to be in shape for and would definately motivate him... if he keeps on picking these great fights then that'll motivate him to train harder ...
i truely beleive with his experiance skill and if he were in the shape he was in for booker and evander he would dominate the heavyweight division...
i know mackie shilstone usually works with althletes who are already in great shape and betters them to amazing levels.. but if james were to get in great shape and to sort out his nutrition... and then work with mackie... i certianly think some conditioning work and if he could gain some more power he could be amazing... lol
i might have gone too far in thinking optimisticly.. but there are some good points none the less
Peace
His workrate has diminished, his training sucks....do you watch his fights???
Thinking optimisticly is putting it lightly!!!
oi!! ;DQuote:

one.. his workrate is getting better and its probably a motivation issue rather then anything else, like i have previously explained im extremely optimistic about toneys future and his gain in motivation for the future!
his training is not all bad.. he trained pretty well for the peter fight... with the right nutrition and the right motivation... and the right fight... the rematch for example... i believe over the course of his next or next few fights he can be back in shape...
and also... not starting shit here... and if i type swears it is only a way of getting across how strongly i feel about the matter.... i fucking hate it when people ask me did you see the fight.. have you even watched the guy fight bla bla bla..ARRGHHH :P >:mad lol
yes i have seen him fight... and im sure you'l admit fights are bound to look different in my eyes then yours...
for example... person who hates toney../ person who loves toney.
one person will say he didnt get off all night , he didnt have the workrate he didnt fight his fight set his own pace and followed the other guy all night and lost himself most of the rounds...
another might say fair play.. he wasnt getting off like he could do.. but hes a counter puncher.. he landed effective shots he countered nicely.. he looked good..yada yada
and im the first to admit like everyone should if its your boy in there... and its a close round..
nine out of ten people will call the round for theyr favourite fighter.. cos thats who youve been watching the closest and you can name twice as many things your fighter did in that round then you can name that his opponent did?
can you feel me?
peace ;)
umm punchstats show peter 327 landed 772 thrown james toney 218 landed 647 thrown wouldnt really call that bs decisionQuote:

hold on a minute peter outlanded toney by over 100 punches plus threw more than 100 punches more than toney but toney won i dont get it i know punchstats can be misleading but come on 100 more punches thrown and landed ??Quote:

total punchstat numbers cant define how the bout went...
the only way to score a bout by punchstat is to look at the numbers round by round
Peace
Sam Peter. Toney should retire already before he gets anymore brain damage. I'd prefer to remember him as a middleweight.
Laikhovich will be the best contender if he gets his shit together perhaps.
