Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
OK....
So I was watching Wlad vs. Brock last night and got to thinking about the deviations that Wlad came across during hes career....
Ross Purity
Corrie Sanders
Lamon Brewster
Last night as Micahel Buffer announced Wladdy I started thinking about his loses and thought to myself 'You know I would really like to see Wladdy avenge his loses'
So IMO, Yes I would like to see Wlad fight both Purity and Brewster maybe not in his next fight but before he reitres afterall part of being considered a great champ is that your able to come back and avenge your loses......
I know about both Brew and Purity not being top dogs at the moment so thats why I'm saying not now but before he retires...
Do you feel that Wlad should get back in the ring with Purity and Brewster (Sanders is retired) before his career is over?
Wadda' ya think? Should he?

Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
Unite the titles is more important. Someone has to do it at this division.
Hasn't been done since the early Tyson days. Wlad has the talent and size to do it.
Look forward not backward.

Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
According to boxrec Sanders has soom kind of comback planned. Personally i think avenging the Brewster loss makes sense - the other two arent worth the time and he gains nothing by reversing them.
-
Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
He needs to avenge the loss to Brewster if Lamon still plans on fighting, his eye got pretty fucked up from Sergei.
Purrity has ALWAYS been a bum, no need to fight him....he beat Wlad when Wlad was 22...he's 30 now and Purrity wouldn't last a full round with him.
As for Corey Sanders...it would have been good to get a rematch with him but Wlad wasn't ready for it until just recently. Corey was a good fighter, a tough guy with a sneaky left cross
The Brewster rematch should only be done if unification bouts aren't availible

Good to hear that about Corrie don't know if you've seen any of his fights other then the Wladdy fight, hes an exciting Heavy. Fucken hands of stone... :o

Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you....
Brewster may be out of the fight game completely after the fight with Sergei as I thought that he
suffered a detached retina in that fight. The Boss was, and to a certain degree still is, a gatekeeper
journeyman with a great chin that ran Klitschko out of gas.
I think that Wladimir has shown, over the past few fights, that the stamina question that ominously hovered
over his head for such a long time has been effectively done away with; e.g. Peter, Byrd and Brock.
I'm sure Sanders would jump all over a rematch for a big pay day and a chance at regaining a title. It just
seems highly unlikely and too risky of a fight to take. But I'm pretty sure that Vitali put the finishing touches
on Sanders' career.

Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
I voted no.
I'd be more impressed with him saving the division by unifying the titles.
The Brewster loss was a fluke IWO.

Fluke or no fluke, it still goes down as a loss.... And I agree about the Unifications but what about before his career is over?

I never said that it didn't...but that loss came more from Wlad's stamina issues than him getting knocked out like everyone tries to press it.
Watch the fight again...Wlad gasses out. Brewster caught him in the 3rd & Wlad just went all silly putty face & clocked his ass right back.
If he really feels the need...I'm sure that he'll call Brew out...but I just think that it's not necessary any more...I mean...who is Brewster anyways? He's lost out to Etienne for Christ's sake & he was also losing to Wlad before the steam ran out of the engine.

Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
....yes because people ask that of a great champion. IMO if Wlad-Brewster II comes to fruition and Wladimir KO's him it takes him up a little bit...people will start comparing him to Lennox because that's what he did!
Wladimir is a unification, avenged loss, and a couple title defenses away from being Great depending on how good the title holders and mandatories are.

Thats what I was goann get to next,
Lewis avenged his loses to McCall & Rahaman and was able to unify..... I just think that if Wladdy beats Brewster it would def. add points to his career......
-
Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
CC Mick!
I think Wlad has enough time left in his career to become a great...but that will only happen if he unifies the titles!!!
-
Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
Perhaps Brewster.
But Corrie sanders would be good given how good Sanders looked against Vitali even if not in best shape.
Sanders because he is great to watch such a rugged guy with courage and fast killer left. The sniper indeed.
-
Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
A Sanders fight is HUGE RISK and little reward....I doubt it happens but if Sanders comes back, beats a top tier guy I'd say Wlad take the fight and whip him.

The difference being that Lewis won or regained titles with those wins. Its a nice string to your bow to have "defeated every man he has faced" but I really dont see any point in it.

Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
I wanted to throw this out on several of these threads...because something set in for me today...as it often does on various occassions from time to time...
We all got a good thing going & agreements...disaggreements...differences...favori tes...fans & fanatics...we all really do get things sorted out here.
I think it's good that we can keep the forum together on such a tight note...even those of us that don't often get along...generally we often make one another see each other's points of view & that's a good thing because we all live & learn off of each other. Even though we agree to disagree...we all learn something from one another...& that's a damned fine thing.
I know that's a corny thing to say...but fwockit...ya'll have called me wacko for worse reasons than that.
Keep up the good work people...our joint get's better & better everyday & wer'e all gettin closer & closer as a community.

Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
UNIFY them avenge to Punky Brewster, then Corrie Sanders than Ross Perot.
I was at Vitali vs Sanders and I was screaming out DO IT FOR YA LIL BROTHER!!!!!! THEN like a hundred people started cracking up.
-
Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
if wlad cared about avenging the losses he would have chased a rematch with em soon after (like ali and lewis). he should move forward now and try and unify. personally i would try and avenge the losses straight away. it reminds me of kostya tszyu, and why he never bothered to get rid of his big dirty 1 loss against vince phillips???

say lewis hadnt revenged both of them losses to mccall and rahman his legacy wouldnt be as good as now i dont think
-
Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
Yes but he won titles in both fights so there was a poi t to them. If Brewster had a belt then hell yeah he should be gunning for him.
-
Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
I first want to see him unify the belts and then maybe go back and fight Brewster and proove that fight was a fluke.
-
Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
i think he should. just to prove he's better

I completely agree with this 100%.
Lewis would not be The Lennox we know if he would NOT have avenged his loses. I myself have questioned why he never fought Rahman a 3rd time.

Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
I voted yes but do not agree with Purity....Why bother? Purity is no one and it would mean nothing if Wlad beat him...That was a long time ago.....
Yes to Brewster because he is still very active and was WBO Champ not to long ago...
Sanders?...Again why?....IMO it was an upset....Sander fast, tough, strong yes but no real gain if he beats him....Vitaly beat him to tears....A win over Sanders would just have people saying that he beat an old man who was not the fighter he was in their first meeting.....
Unify the belts....get more wins against top tier guys and that will make all his other loses seem unimportant and as growing experiences if he dominates from here on out
-

Good points Daxx...

Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
Yes, But he needs to Unify belts first.
-
Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
As of Today........... People seem to think Yes, as long as he unifies the div. also....
Yes...... He needs to avenge his loses, afterall thats what a great Champ does. 10 (52.6%)
No........ Theres no need for him to do so hes done enough and no one will remember the loses. 4 (21.1%)
It doesn't matter..... If he does great and if he doesn't great it wouldnt make a difference IMO. 5 (26.3%)

Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
I dont think there is much reason to believe that Wlad has become so much better that he could beat Sanders. Sanders has the style to beat him. Sooner or later the left finds its target. Wlad cannot play the tall man game because Sanders is almost as big and very fluent and fast.
Not much hope he would beat Sanders.
-
Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
I don't think he's going to. He could have fought Brewster again but he fought Byrd(Rematch) didn't he? I don't think he's into avenging his losses if he doesn't have to.
-
Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
It doesn't really mater if he does or if he doesn't, it won't change his place in history.

Really?
You don't think people will say, well he was good champ but he lost to Brewtser and didn't have a rematch?
You don't think great champs need to clear up their loses?
You think Lennox would be Lennox would he have not rematched McCall? and or Rahman?

I think for the majority of boxing fans it doesn't matter one way or the other right now especially since Sanders is retired, Puritty has lost 6 of his last 10 fights and Brewster is out of the belt picture. If Brewster shows he deserves a shot at the belts then that is a different story but to call him out at this point when Wladimir has a good chance to unify the division would be ill advised.

Great champs do need to avenge their losses if they lost to great fighters in the process.

Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
Brewster was a fluke? And Sanders was a fluke also? how many fluke punches is Vlad. allowed to absorb before he was really knocked out?
-

Thought I'd re-bump this one since IMO it was a really good talk... 8)

Really... I mean, IMO a loss is a loss regardless of how you paint it...
There are some exceptions like Jessu Chavez loosing to Diaz. ::**

as a boxer of coure one thing you will always want to do no matter what is avenge a loss....
but i question wlads heart...
alot of people have spoken about his chin, IMO his chin isnt that bad, hes been down alot becaus he lacked the heart to stay up and slavage the round... he has been putt on his ass many a time and gotten back up like he has never been down... he has been top dog for a long time but has fought no other champ... lacks heart IMO and thats why he will never be great...
-
Re: Last night I started thinking about Wladdys career and his loses, Do you........
Wladimir has heart, if he didn't have heart he would have quit after losing to Sanders...he would have quit when he didn't fare well vs Williamson....he would have quit when Peter knocked him down....and Wlad wouldn't be out to prove anything to anyone.
when asked "Who do you want to fight next?" by Larry Merchant Wladimir responded with "Well who would YOU want me to fight next?"....Wladimir also said he'd give anything to get a unification shot.
Wladimir's heart was questioned by Brewster and everyone else just because he doesn't HAVE to box but Wlad responded #1 with a KO and #2 by saying, "My job is tough but I love my job!"

Whoa! Preme I must say a bit surprised by readin that you think Wlad has no heart....
I think the guys got a lot of heart. Why else fight he has money, hes well educated why continue to fight?
Really I can't see/understand your view.
