IF THIS ISN'T A LIE... or a rumor. But Boxingtalk is very accurate.
I never liked this matchup, but it's going to get boxing attention at least... and I suppose that's good for boxing. Could be a stinkfest of a fight though.
I wonder what the purse they both agreed on. If anything, I'm guessing Floyd took more cash than we think and Golden Boy will take a large amount of ppv percentage buys (which will ADD up considerably).

I think you're exactly right. ODLH probably gave Floyd what he wanted or close to it, and Oscar is taking all of the PPV upside. Which could be huge. That ODLH is a smart fuck. I don't think it will be a stinker. Now that Floyd has his bigtime paycheck and since this is the biggest stage of his life. I would bet on Floyd being a lot more active, well until he possibly gets caught with something that might scare him. Damn, jumping up to 154, after three fights as a blown up welterweight to take on the champion. Can anyone give Floyd props now for at least making the biggest fight in boxing? Haha, fuck that, he's making too much money for props.

Can't take much from the Mayorga fight. Anyone that keeps his hands up is going to stop Mayorga's shots that come from left field. But everytime Mayorga threw a straight or an uppercut it landed. Sometimes with authority. Oscar isn't going to stop the jab or the straight right hand of Mayweather. When Floyd wins, give him his due instead of saying Oscar was a washed up fighter who was drained to come down at 147.

A battle of truly skilled boxers. I think this will be very close. de la Hoya is not over it yet. Mayweather is in his prime against a true legend and icon.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather have agreed to terms for a pay-per-view mega-bout in May. The agreement was reached late Monday afternoon.
"Oscar is really excited," said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, a De La Hoya holding. "Oscar knows he will go in as an underdog because he is facing the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world."
De La Hoya will reportedly make more than $20 million for the May 5 fight, while Mayweather's share is expected to exceed $10 million. The exact split of the purse was not disclosed. Golden Boy will promote the event.
De La Hoya had given Mayweather a Monday deadline or he was going to pick another opponent for the bout. Mayweather beat Carlos Baldomir less than two weeks ago to win the World Boxing Council welterweight championship.

i think PBF saying that he was going to retire after one last fight made oscar finaly make a decsion. PBF is the biggest fight out there and he wanted to make sure he didn't miss out.
i don't really like the fight being at 154 but i still pick PBF to outbox oscar. is mayweather sr still going to be training oscar for this fight.

No mate I love Floyd at 135,, not a fan of his at the higher weight, he is forced to turn on the jets because of the size disadvantage. no doubt he has great skills.. just not a thrill at 147.. Vs. Oscar he will be giving up reach for the first time in his Career , that could pose problems, not to mention Oscar is taller and stronger.
and can close the gap. fast.. Mayweather has always enjoyed a reach advantage up till now. he will have to be at a dangerous range to land . should be interesting . O0

Tell you what 1inch aint gonna make a world of difference...Delahoya at 33 has a shit load of mileage on him compared to Floyd who barely ever spit blood outof his mouth in his whole career....Floyd is to fast to smart and to defensive minded to let Oscar get him....Floyd 12 unanimous desicion....
And after that the critics will still bitch at Floyd .....And I will be here to defend his azz to the hill ;)

Lets just hope it goes through and neither PBF or ODLH folds.... I can assure you this, that the fight IF it goes through it will be because of ODLH and because ONCE AGAIN he will show that regardless of what happens in his life he will challenge anyone out there at any time, he wen't thru 6 Divisions and fought the necessary opponents to win the titles, (People say Ali, SRR, Duran ALL got gift decisions and people also say so did ODLH) he became a boxer for 2 reasons and 2 reasons ONLY to make his mom proud and to become one of the GREATEST fighters to EVER step foot in that ring...
