Hatton says: "Floyds last two fights have sent me to sleep"
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/6141112.stm

It has been all talk and no action between Hatton and Mayweather
Ricky Hatton remains hopeful of fighting American four-weight champion Floyd Mayweather.
Hatton will attempt to regain his IBF light welterweight crown against Juan Orango on 13 January in the States but could then line up Mayweather.
"It's a fight I would definitely want," Hatton, 28, told BBC Radio Five Live.
"I'm not scared to say he's the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. He has won world titles at different weights. Hopefully we can get it on."
Mayweather's trainer, his uncle Roger Mayweather, told BBC Sport earlier in the year that the fighter was interested in fighting Hatton, although not on his home soil in Manchester.
Hatton has now resolved that issue by securing a deal with TV network HBO to fight in the United States and he will take on Orango in either Las Vegas or Atlantic City next January.
Floyd came in to the ring dressed as Russell Crowe and he ended up fighting like Sheryl Crow
Ricky Hatton
However, this month Mayweather accused Hatton of demanding too much money and Hatton in turn insists that is not the case.
"He says that I've priced myself out of a fight but I wasn't even aware that I've asked for a price because my next two fights are done deals," Hatton told Sportsweek.
The Manchester fighter also suggested Mayweather, who defeated Carlos Baldomir last week to claim the WBC welterweight title, would have to raise his game if the two were to arrange a high-profile meeting in the ring.
606 DEBATE: Could Hatton topple Mayweather?
"The way Floyd is performing, I don't think he is in a position to be demanding money," said Hatton. "His last two fights have sent me to sleep.
"He is a wonderful talent but his last fight was very boring. They carried him to the ring dressed as Russell Crowe and he ended up fighting like Sheryl Crow."
Mayweather, who remains unbeaten in 37 contests, said he intended to quit after one more fight.

Re: Hatton says: "Floyds last two fights have sent me to sleep"
Honestly...I don't know where people come up with this shit.
The quote should actually read: Hatton says: "Floyd's last two fights have sent me to sleep...but just prior to that I had to clean out the cabinets & fridge...then pound back about 12 Guinness." ;D
-
Re: Hatton says: "Floyds last two fights have sent me to sleep"
Im getting fucking fed up with all this Hatton bashing. Im actually ashamed of you Wacko.
;D
-
Re: Hatton says: "Floyds last two fights have sent me to sleep"
Hatton DID NOT say "step up to me Floyd or I'll embarrass you by beating everyone the boxing fans want you to fight"....which makes Hatton look like a dope to me.
If I was Ricky I would say....Floyd doesn't want Tony Margarito, I'll take him out!....Floyd doesn't want Miguel Cotto, I'll take him out! Floyd doesn't want Shane Mosley, I'll take him out!
It's that simple, you discredit what Floyd has done by beating him to his next goal so Floyd can say "Well I beat ____" and Ricky can say "Well I beat ____ too and before you even got there"
I want Ricky to get his shot but I'm afraid the Collazo fight fucked it up!!!

Well I will say this...And all the Die-hard Hatton fans have to admit Ricky aint setting the world on fire...He fought once last year, Just scraped one out against Collazzo and then dropped down to 140 again to attempt to take an alphabet from a guy with 19 pro fights....Cmon boys fair is fair and Matty you know I have posted this in other places just as respectfully...Whats good for the Goose is good for Gander...Ricky needs to asses his Team and his Direction and they need to step it up..Cause the the Things they Accuse Floyd of there just as guilty and thats were I try to hang in there but then Credibility comes in...I am trying to see it both ways .....Fair is fair..
Plus I have to question how much of it Ricky really meant or is he Just Posturing for a Fight with Floyd...After Floyd fighting Delahoya in May(If it Truly Happens) it is safe to say Ricky needs Floyd more than the Floyd needs Ricky....Hopefully we wont have to argue about it and those Fukers will get in the ring and sort this S*** out............... ;)

Re: Hatton says: "Floyds last two fights have sent me to sleep"
Hatton has to realise that Floyd is not going to go after him. Hatton isnt all that important to Floyd. Floyd can move up divisions and fight up to junior middleweight, if Hatton wants the fight then its looking like he might need to follow. It doesnt look as though Hatton is able to do that.
Hatton is best off keeping quiet and actually getting back in the ring. Its been a very long time since he last fought!!!

Why is he talking smack??? He is saying what 90% actully think, so if he is asked about Floyds fight what do you expect him to say " oh i was loving it i was on the edge of my seat for the whole 12 rnds ??? Mate hs is saying exactly how he feels and how hundreds of fans felt who actully walked out before the fight was finished, so to have an opinion and an honest one in that you have to have achieved greatness in the ring, well damm me and the rest of us on here, most of us on here were saying the same thing after the fight, i dont understand how it is smack?? If Floyd went out there and totally smashed Baldomir up and it was a great entertaining fight, Hatton would be the first to say that was a great performance and thats why he is number 1.
-
Re: Hatton says: "Floyds last two fights have sent me to sleep"
i don't think he's 'talking smack' at all. he's telling it like it is and he's simply saying what his agenda is. it's not like he is saying anything really disrespectful or in bad taste. if anything he speaks the truth.
-
Re: Hatton says: "Floyds last two fights have sent me to sleep"
Anyone can be beat and these two fighters are beatable
with that said, I do not think Hatton can close the ring fast enough to get to Floyd. If it happens it would be a 12 round boring win for Floyd
hint
Always bet on the boxer
-
Re: Hatton says: "Floyds last two fights have sent me to sleep"
I don't think Floyd could keep Hatton at bay for 12 rounds.
No chance 8)
Hatton would drag him into a war and bully him ;)

If the fight with Oscar happens then you could well be right that Ricky would need Floyd more than the other way round. Reason being Floyd will have been in with a legend and his stock will go through the roof !
I for one am not over the moon regards to the promotion and management side of things that Ricky finds himself in. When in the states for the MAB fight it would have been great business sense to hook with Golden Boy at that point, thus enabling him to make better fights when in the states. For me Fight Acadamy, and Sports Network before that, did not, and have not done Ricky's talent the justice it deserves.

Exactly what I was thinking... And that was hardly an entertaining fight until Hatton was almost put to sleep, if he hadn't been hurt his detractors would say it was just as boring a win, but since he was almost KTFO and arguably lost that's just as much fuel for the flame. Hatton is basically being stupid wth these comments, saying MAyweather is in no position to demand money... Hatton is in no position to demand a fight let alone money and Mayweather has no reason to take it since Rickys fighting an average light welter and he's fighting the biggest star in boxing.

Re: Hatton says: "Floyds last two fights have sent me to sleep"
This fight would could be exciting , but all depends on ring size⦠in a fast ring (24-26 footer) Hatton is fucked .and the crowd is fucked . Hatton would never be able to cut it off ,and would chase to no avail and lose a boring decision .. In a standard 18 footer, Hatton would have a better go of it , Hatton would be able cut the ring off and force exchanges. Giving him a better chance to win . And giving the fans their moneys worth.

De La Hoya is a big star but i think he is also on his way to becoming a washed up star. Floyd beatin him now only proves that he is capable of doing what felix Sturm did with one hand. Don't get me wrong, De La Hoya is not as washed up as Gatti and Mitchell but a win over a very very over rated Mayorga doesn't quite cut the mustard for me. Its clever promotion by mayweathers team because i actually think he will wipe the floor with Oscar. I doubt Oscar has the heart for it and after a few rounds of chasing shadows and eatin right hands, i think he will lose interest pretty quickly. He won't be up for it like he was up for Mayorga!!! And Floyd is a zillion times better than Mayorga.
As for hatton.....He's fucked up signing a deal with Hobson and maybe even HBO. Juan fucking Urango????????? He's gone in a big stupid circle since beatin tszyu. 18 months wasted. props to him for fightin Collazo bcos that was a tough fight. I'd be interested in seeing how floyd wouldd do against Collazo. Southpaw with similar hand speed and good skills. Probably better than Judah and Baldi anyway. sadly folks i think this is gunna be one major fight that will never actually happen.

I thought the point of boxing was finding a way to win the easiest way possible, or at least the smart point in boxing.

It can be.
There are people who appreciate Floyd for it and people who don't.
But it won't be present. 10 years from now when nobody else comes close to him we'll see how much he is missed and how brilliant he is. imo its up to the opponent to make him fight a different fight. They haven't so it's their fault not his :)

Alright. I don't think Oscar would win.
But you present your case and I'll present mine :) Why do you think Oscar would win?
-
Re: Hatton says: "Floyds last two fights have sent me to sleep"
You can think that if you want to Gyrokai
Majesty, it just seems that Floyd doesn't put the effort into his way of fighting just in my opinion....Willie Pep feinted and moved and did everything Floyd did but with more effort....like he worked for his money and the way I see Floyd, sometimes he does really good, works really hard and is impressive but sometimes he just seems like I'll do as little as possible to get by.
Not 100% the truth just the way I take it sometimes...sometimes I think Floyd is awesome other times I see him as boxings version of Terrell Owens
Oscar CAN win because he's fought fast guys and defensive guys before, he can move decently, he has a good chin, good stamina, and awesome power.

Your right about the Terrel Owneds comparison... Only Floyd doesn't have any teammates or coaches to let down so his attitude only serves him for the better. I don't really understand how you can admit that boxing is about finding the easiest way to win, and then rag on Floyd because it doesn't look like hes putting as much effort into doing so? Isn't that the whole point, expending as little energy as possible and using his skills? Toney, Whittaker, Hopkins all fought somewhat the same way.. With Toney and Hopkins it still made for entertaining fights because they didn't have the footspeed that Mayweather does, they would still have to trade punches and have a high output to school their opponent.. I think Whittaker is really the most similar to Mayweather in this regard... And he got loads of criticism for not being exciting in his day..
