Now that I have the boxing theatre set up...most of my bwoy's come over on the weekends now when there is a PPV fight.
Honestly though...I really enjoy this site more than I do my friends company. ;D
Same here, they like it, they come round for the 2am big fights over here, but they don't watch it religously like I do, they'll miss fights and not worry, I on the other hand can't miss a fight. I haven't for nearly 2 years and I don't plan on doing.
:coolclick: Cheers. I'm on the same lines...nice to see that I aint the only one. I can't say that I haven't missed a fight in 2 years...because there is just some crap that I REFUSE to lower myself to watching...but I can say that I haven't missed an EVENT fight or even minor event fight in over 10 years. ;DQuote:

I think I converted one of my friends...at least he watches fights with some regularity and he watched
most of the fights I gave to him...he is not into it like me or most of the people here, but it is pretty
good for someone, who didn't watched boxing at all before... ;D
Btw...nice question...have cc...
My friends would not watch at all if I didn't ever rope them in to coming over to watch a PPV fight that I paid for. Even then though, they end up talking through quite a bit of the fight and kind of ruin it for me. (this has only happend 2-3 times--generally i've learned my lesson and just lock myself up in the house and watch by myself---though i can usually persuade my wife to watch with me if it's a big fan-friendly one (Pac/Morales III, for instance)).
cc. all the way around!! For those who struggle with the real world that tries to have boxing take a back seat!!
I'd like to interject this question...kinda goes along with the one posed.
Wouldn't it be the shit if we all lived within an hour of each other?
I don't think that I could pack us all in the boxing theatre...but we could knockout a wall & all watch the projector from my back yard.
That shit'd be like a drive in theatre...just without driving in. ;)
Seriously though...it would be cool as all get out if we lived close to each other. I'd love for us all to be able to watch the big bwoy's together.
That would be awesome Wack. Like have a big BBQ before the fight and everyone discuss boxing...all the different opinions would be crazy. Lyle would show us a Wlad tattoo. With your connections you would have a couple boxers there yourself. Tito would make an appearance or something...and then we would all watch the fights on a crazy projector. Awesome.
It would be great...that is until busted out his Wlad tattoo.Quote:

I wish I had a friend who was in to boxing. (that sounds pretty gay, but I am serious. I hate having to come to the internet to talk about boxing. I wish it were mainstream like football, where any dude you ran into could hold a pretty good discussion. )
Honestly...it doesn't sound gay at all.Quote:

if i had more friends that were in to boxing i wouldn't be on here that much. they'd rather watch that corny WWE shit
I have a friend who constantly says he wants to be a fighter and hits his bag hours a day, but somehow cant throw a punch properly, he'll at least watch fights over here but he doesn't really pay that much attention to all that is going on. My house has become a bit of a squatters situation though and I have control of the remote so all friends are force fed boxing.
Some do some don't but none follow it like I do...For me boxing is more of a lfestyle....Kind of like Wacko has his theater to watch his fights I have my shrine....
A room in the basement I watch fights on tape and dvd and have all my memorbilia and stuff.....
I can't get enough of the damn sport or like many this website....I mean I have some knowledgeable friends (about the sport)...No one like you guys....We get into our game here...sometimes to the point we actually argue like the disagreements were personal lol...That is only because most people don't have the passion for the game like us...
So like I said I get into some good conversations and debates with my boxing fan friends but come here for my hardcore fix on the game...Damn it I sound like I am headed for a 28 day program when I put it like that lol
outside the gym not many. I have Doctor and Attorney friends that think its fashionable to be associated with a Prizefighter, but they know shit about the sport.. outside the gym I get my boxing gossip fix from you guys .. I hear lots of stuff for the first time right here on Saddo, I Love it ! 8) O0
no offence but you'd have to get that itch fixed before i'd hang around for a Mayweather post fight interveiw with ya mate ;DQuote:

there's really only one person outside my gym that I can talk to about boxing
ESPN doesnt do much for boxing, so I don't blame america for not following boxing that much anymore. it takes effort to be a boxing fan these days and thats one of the things thats endearing about it, at least I think so!
I did see that the mayweather/de la hoya and pacquiao/morales got a whole half a page together in USA today's sports section, though
Its certainly a niche, thats why you gots to pay $50 to watch a fight, or $500 for a good seat!Quote:

The only guys I can talk to are the guys @ my barbershop. Thats only once a month. Balletto and Spina go to the barbershop(Manfredo Sr. goes there too... I see him the most ;D) I swear.... Sucks!! Guido(my barber) is the only other person I know that can hold an intelligent boxing conversation ;D
I have a few mates who get together whenever there's a big fight is on sky.
The thing is they only know a few British fighters... Vitali Klitschko... TYSON! ::** Oh and Mayweather (not by name though, he's known as "the proper fast bloke who matrixes every punch")
When ever a fights on, one mate (the one with Sky ;D) phones me up to ask who these guys are and are they any good.
So far theyv'e seen Lacy get his ass handed to him. Tzsyu fight like a 45 year old. Tyson get completely emasculated buy Lewis AND Williams and then the same with Williams and Klitschko.... Plus a few other club fighters fighting at the Elephant and Castle.
They much preffer UFC :D
I can't hate on the UFC as I won't do that to any sport but I just cant get into it... Something more majestic about boxing... The history... The nastalgia, I guess ;)
Man, not one of my friends like boxing. Its funny because whenever they ask me to go out when theres a fight on I'm like na man I can't tonight I'm watching the fight, then they will ask who's fighting and they never usually know who either one of them is, except PBF and Oscar. I think the only time they will watch a fight is if I'm going to the Wing House (its kinda like hooters but the woman are hotter and what they wear is better) so they can look at the girls.
I have a few friends that watch it. Luckily, I have a girlfriend that actually enjoys boxing. She used to train a little, so she understands the principles and gets into it. She even likes to play Fight Night 3 with me. How cool is it that I get to watch Pacman v Morales tomorrow and still get some that night...
My friends will go to watch a big boxing show, if we go in the cheap seats, to see Calzaghe or Maccarinelli, but whenever I start talking about american fights, or British boxers that aren't world champions then i see that their eyes glaze over, and that's the reason I ended up on this little forum, spitting opinions like they were orange seeds.
;D thats how we all found this place I recon ;)
Nope, all my friends think im wierd because of my blind following to boxing. But forget them, i kinda enjoy being the only one in my group who likes this sport. Gives me personality ;D
Unfortunately nobody.
Was brought up boxing all my life, from recording the big fights for my dad who worked evenings. When the big fights were on SKY i would go with him to his mates places where a few would gather to watch the big fight in the early hours of the morning. There would be a big help yourself dinner on the table, everyone boozing and giving their authority on the upcoming fight or dissecting a previous fight. Inevitably people were up out of their seats visually demonstrating their points and arguements got heated. I was the only kid there and they used to tell me about the old days when they were single and worked together, and how they used to all go to the cinema together to watch the big fights and listen on the radio. The highlight was me putting on the gloves and hitting various palms (at 8/9 with about 8 coaches all giving advise at the same time). Those were great times, these guys lived boxing and had a great laugh. I can only imagine the evening if the forum members got together to watch a fight and had a few beers. It would be hilarious. Now the only person who I can have a decent discussion about boxing with is my brother and you guys.
Occasionally I run into someone who claims he is a "boxing fan" and how he watched a recent fight. I get all excited and go on for about 15 mins about the fight, fighter, style, competition etc and then see's that the guy doesn't know what the hell I'm talking about! The false hope is killing me.
What good is there watching a great fight without someone else knowledgeable to talk to. I've tried watching it with mates, but they drive me crazy saying things like "that guy will win because he's bigger" or "he should just punch him in the face!?!" Trying to explain the intricacies of boxing to a layperson is a nightmare. I wish I could find "gang" like my dad had!!
(But I have a secret plan in motion........)
I have some friends that are casually into it.
One of them actually asked me if I was going to get the Pikachu fight this weekend.
I'm sure he meant well.
I know exactly what you mean... I hate coming across "Boxing fans"... False hope was the perfect phrase... A relitives new boyfriend came to a family party and started talking about the HWDiv. I was like, wow I have someone to talk to... Then he began to say things like "that giant guy" and "the russian"....Whhich one?????Quote:
