No chance.
Five years ago I would have said yes. He has been in too many wars (just like Morales) and it has started to show. Pac would finish him off just like he did Morales. I think both MAC and EM beat Pac five years ago. This is not to take anything away from Pac, but they cant fight toe to toe like they used to.
Yes he can, it's within his abilities IMO. He avenged his loss to Morales, his draw to Juarez, and with such an adaptive style, you can never put it past him. But even then, it's a toss-up. The fight can go so many ways IMO, pac-man's power and speed was enough to dismantle barrera the first time, I'm not 100% convinced he'd do it this time. I just want to see it happen! I don't know, but I certainly wouldn't give Barrera any less than an even money shot.
I think MAB is a lot like Morales. Hes been great, but now this should be the decider as whether hes still great, or slightly losing it.
Pac too young and too strong
more importantly is very hungry for more victories
i don't think barrera can do it anymore. pacquiao is too quick and busy for him now and marco is no spring chicken. i think pac man would be all over him more than in the first fight.
on their first fight, pacman just beat MAB down with his left hand and now that he got the right hook working, it would be even easier than the first fight. HBO guys are just full of crap sometimes. on their first fight, they clearly said MAB should retire and the fighting style was just overmatched. but now they're saying pacman would have some trouble against MAB, are u kidding me?? what makes them think MAB would be better than the first fight? he's couple of years older and slower. Pacman is just too strong and fast for him. MAB just couldnt see those lefts coming. it'll be exactly the same results. i rather watch pacman against JMM. i think that fight was more unsettled. lets see what happens if JMM doesnt get knocked down 3 times in a round
My head says not a chance, but how can you count out a fighter like Barerra.
At this point in his career, I do think MAB has more left in the tank than Morales did.
I look at it this way. If Barerra wants another shot, he should get one. Considering his career accomplishments he deserves one. He did give Pac the fight that launched Manny into the public limelight. Manny should return the favor.
Pac strong like bull
I mean anything's possible but I doubt it. Its not like he could just go out there and control Pac with just his jab and some movement like he did against Juarez. You can't compare Juarez and Pac, its questionable at times whether Juarez is even conscious, not to mention Pac's so much faster of hand and foot. Barrera would have to box and move and jab but he'd also have to get Pac's respect. Would have to be almost a perfect performance. But I doubt it happens anyway.

so i think marco can still pull out one last show stopper and upset the pac man
Id love it if he did, I really really would.Quote:

For Pac vs Barrera, I gotta agree with whoever said cant give barrera less than 50 percent chance. He HAS got a lot more in the tank left than morales and IMO is a lot smarter fighter and copes a lot better with rematches because of this and his ability to adjust.
I agree with you to a certain point, True Marco did get a beating from Manny a few years back but, you got 2 analyze and realize that Marco is not the same fighter. In my view he has improved alot since the Pacman fight I mean just look at all his fight's since then, he is a way more versed fighter, boxer, brawler he can do it all. And he is pretty damn good at it too he can counter, lead and adjust to each fight. While Manny has also improve alot he uses both arms now he doesn't rely so much on his left so he is more well rounded in that sence too but, I don't think he is gonna be able to beat on Marco. Barrera is just a much better fighter than Manny expect Marco to use the same kind of agressive toe to toe type of counter punchin in wich Marquez handed a beating to Manny a few years ago. I think this fight will be alot like The Winky vs Trinidad fight were Marco will use his superior Technique to beat Manny and frustrate him. ;DQuote:

PAC can beat MAB.
Who is the third mexican legend fighting at the moment?
Juan Manuel Marquez
Very few seem to be giving Barrera a chance, and that is very understandable in the wake of the 3 round demolition of Morales. IMO Barrera has a lot more left in his tank than Morales and more fundmentally is able to hold back from going to war and stick to a boxing plan. Morales fought admirably this time in terms of going down swinging, but it was the completely WRONG way to try and beat a Pac who can very well beat you to the punch...
Barrera can beat Pac, but the fight needs to happen sooner rather than later...
JMM is the only one... MAB had his chance.
I was going on Barrera's first fight with pac, he couldnt box him because pac was all over him. I also think pac has improved since then.Quote:

MAB beat JMM init?
PacMan could even move to lightweight and dominate there.
welterweight if he is up for it!
Just think: Ricky Hatton Vs Pac Man!
8) ;D
I think unlike Morrales, Barrera has more left for some reason. He boxed well against Juarez who hits probably harder than Pacquaio, but is nowhere near as skilled or quick. However Barrera chances are pretty minimal right now because I don't think he can go to war with Pacquiao like he may have been able to earlier in his career.
Good points, CCQuote:

Pac has got better. No doubts about this. But a rematch would be a different ball game entirely IMO, no 3 round blowouts against MAB!! ;)
By the looks of it most people are going with Pacquiao on this, and I’d say that’s the safe bet. On the other hand I also agree that Barrera has a little more left than Morrales, but it’s going to be extremely difficult for Barrera to win.
Yes Barrera is a modern legend like Morales, but Pacquiao will be non-stop relentless attack, the only way I see Barrera winning is by keeping his distance and punishing Pacquiao with counters and not get drawn into a toe to toe encounter.
Allthough if Barrera manages to keep his distance and frustrate Pacquiao and hurt him a few times with sharp precise counters and body shots, he well could afford to go toe to toe in rounds 11 and 12 as they only way Barrera will win is by points decision.
That’s my case for Barrera.
My heart says Barrera can do it, but my head says Pacquiao.
Marquez,Nope....Barrera another nope.Pac just too strong.
The right time for barrera to beat Pac was right after hes last and final win over Morales, to me barrera was P4P No1 in the world then. Ill rate a prime barrera and morales over Pac atn, unless pac keeps doing these special proformances over prime fighters ill reconsider.
But right now, pac seems in his prime, fast, strong, hungry as hell...
You could see the difference in barrera with his first fight with Rocky, and then his second, I question if he has the heart and hunger anymore? can he go to war one more time?
I think he cans till beat him. But he will have to want it more than lifes it self andget back to his old ways.
The recent win for Pac was very impressive, but lets get it into a little perspective. Pac beat a Morales who hasnt fought in a year and a morales who was coming off of a first stoppage. Instead of raising his will to box, he sought to trade and came off the worse again. A stategic kamikaze from the off. Morales fought a very flawed fight.Quote:

Its not about my heart, my head says MAB can beat Pac...
manny pac, eric morales, or barrera are pound-for-pound over any other fighters. manny's first. i'd love to see eric move up and meet mayweather at 154Quote:

And that is so funny. ::**Quote:

beating pac is like a matador taming a bull without the sword for barrera...pacs is a freak of nature,he runs 12 laps around the oval (400m) without breathing hard,he is in his physical prime..the scarry thing is he is still learning the game..the only way to beat pac is a jmm type combined with valeros raw talent.
I think some people are seriously under rating Barrera's ability.
Anybody has a chance in boxing.Barrera can still do an upset on Pacquaio given his abilities and experience. I cannot discount Barrera. He is still a world champion right now. That means, he still has some left in him.... and maybe more.
CC, agreed.Quote:

Barrera is not to be underestimated. Pac would start as favourite and rightly so, but Barrera has a fair shot of beating Pac if he comes in with the correct gameplan.
Even though Pacquiao is on fire at the moment, I think this could be a tough one to call. My head says Pacquiao will win because it’s the same story as Morales without taking anything away from the two great Mexicans I feel both Morales and Barrera have seen their best days gone. So with that in mind I can see Pacquiao stopping Barrera.
But as I thought with Morales or rather hoping that he may have one last big performance left in him. I can’t see Barrera going toe to toe, he will have to stay on the outside and circle Pacquiao and keep a stiff left jab in his face, with the occasional flurry, aswell as going to the body with his lethal body shots and slow Pacquiao down. Easier said than done though.
I still see this as being an interesting fight and I believe Barrera deserves a rematch.
It will be very difficult for Barrera to win but nowhere near impossible, he has the tools, ability but more importantly at this stage the experience and knowledge to beat Pacquiao, but I have to say I see Pacquiao stopping Barrera in the 8th round.
Just like wacky mentioned in another thread, MAB looked like he wanted out of that fight after the 3rd. Neither Manny nor MAB are who they were in 2004. Manny is on the rise and peaking while Barrera has seen better days. I would not say MAB is shot, but the human buzzsaw is just too much for Barrera. Manny destroys MAB early.
Well...you gotta look at it realistically...he's already cracked him...& hard & we all know that Barrera is a tuff nut to crack...so mentally (all metal plates in head excluded ;D ) Pac has the advantage.Quote:
